i missed this. i saw cris carter was on espn. but LOL
it's about time

ESPN could have Mike Golic and Mark Schlerath do all the NFL analysis and I would be happy. Those two are by far the best ex-player analysts IMHO.

Chicago signing Rex for one year isn't terrible especially if Kyle Orton or Griese win the job. Rex is to much of a gunslinger. The only reason they offered Briggs anything was to gauge his interest in staying. ESPN getting rid of Salisbury is okay by me, because they still have plenty of people to take that job. So who is going to be the first overpaid free agent? my money is Randy Moss

I find the ESPN football analysts to be the worst analysts of any sport. I think ESPN has a solid collection of NBA talent (Mark Jackson/Stephen A Smith my personal faves, Legler next)...but, on balance, the NFL analysts seem weak. I do think Mark Schlereth is the best one. But I find all of the NFL talent express bias in favor of the players that play their positions (something I particularly hated Salisbury for doing shamlessly) but they also level their "criticism" for players whoio play positions on the opposite side of the ball...WR Analysts are much more willing to criticize Defensive Backs, for example...

It seems to me that most of the ESPN Football analysts (Keyshawn/Darren Woodson, others) are a little too "player friendly" and reserve criticism for coaches and owners.

I don't find this same attitude exists for analysts of the other Big Sports. The Roids/HGH scandal has opened up current players to criticism from the analysts. I can still remember ESPN's hockey analysts who were, all things considered, the sharpest and the fairest (yes, even Barry Melrose, too)...

Is there any validity to the ESPN Fan Wank Dream of Randy Moss signing with the Cowboys?

Is there a Cowboy fan here who will defend the logic expressed by Jerry Jones for trading away Marion Barber in favor of draft picks? Why not deal Julius Jones instead? Barber is much better then Jones.

yeah, its actually a safe move re-signing him for one year. we'll see how it plays out

Jerry Jones had already expressed serious interest in Moss. He played extremely well this past season and "behaved" as well, so he'l get his money. I think a smart move would be dumping T.O. and signing Moss if the two can't co-exist. T.O. (as well as Moss) tends to wear out his welcome pretty quickly!

Julius makes for a good #2 RB, but Barber is a great fit for the tandem with his powerful and shifty running style. The only way they get rid of him is if they trade up for McFadden (the Jets, if he's still available?)

the raiders already got their main man

i hope they can put together a good draft

That sucks. . . at least for my fav team. . . the price just went up for the Bears' re-signing of Tommie Harris:mad: Fuckin Al Davis!

LOTS of action already in Free Agency. I like the Jets signing of Faneca. there line is getting solid, now its time for a RB or QB. Samuel went to Philly, Porter (WR) to the Jags. . . Jets' Vilma to the Saints, Jenkins (Carolina) traded as well. Lots more happened as well

Patriots let Asante Samuel fly away to the Eagles. Samuel led the team in INTs I believe. He was a pretty effective player. I know there was some bad blood between him and the team over last summer...but c'mon...how does this make the Pats stronger? I wonder if the Pats are going to just put in a mediocre season next year to get out of the spotlight from the quest for perfection, spygate, etc...basically a time-out year???

I'm interested to see where Michael Turner lands. I thought he was a great RB backing up LT...

I think Aaron Rodgers will do well. He looked good when he came in for Farve during the 2nd half of the game against Dallas in November.

Atlanta signed him and released Dunn.

Wow.I seriously thought he'd be back. We'll see what the Packers do now

same here. Rodgers did look good in limited action, so it should be interesting. Apparently he was holding out on his decision to retire to see if they could sign Moss, put he resigned with the Pats

on a side note, Titans signed TE Crumpler. I thought this was a nice move!

Thats what I was thinking but I didn't want to say it

yeah, he almost did the same last year, and I heard it mentioned on ESPNEWS yesterday that the Moss signing (it wasn't yet determined) was going to play a role in his decision. I wonder if Green Bay didn't want to just so they could "move on"? then again, 10 Million a year is a lot to spend for a WR that could be a pain in the butt!

seems like a selfish way to decide, but when you carry the team for so long, he's probably earned it

i can hear belichick's speech now. "tom, randy, teddy, my fellow patriots... last season we had a great run but lost a tough one. we were scrutinized under a microscope every single week, and we managed to pull out the w. when everybody said we cheated, we went out there and proved that we dont need to cheat to whip their asses. but in the end it was all too much. we cant go through that again. which is why we are going to take a time out year. its like a vacation while on the job. always look on the bright side."

the patriots will NOT take a "time out" year.
