Yes the bowl lineup is particularly weak this year. The Rose Bowl should be a good one with TCU/Wisconsin, The Capital One with Alabama/Michigan State, the Sugar Bowl with Arkansas/Ohio State and the Cotton Bowl with Texas A & M/LSU. Besides these and the NC game, the rest are pretty much snoozers

I personally think the Fresno State/Northern Illinois matchup in the Humanitarian Bowl is a good one. Those are 2 very good mid-majors who woulda qualified for a bowl even in a BCS conference. And that Sun Bowl matchup between Notre Dame and Miami gots me excited. I'll probably watch at least 25 of the bowls, at least a good portion of them.

You're so right, HM.
I traveled downstate to L.A. for the '99 game. A sea of red, for sure.
Of course, a big reason I and so many Cheeseheads were able to get tickets was because UCLA ticket holders were selling theirs in droves. '99 was the year of the Miami nightmare. After the gut wrenching loss to the Hurricanes the The Rose Bowl felt like an empty afterthought to both the Bruins and their fans.

Speaking of that '99 nightmare, I remember that Saturday very well. Kansas State (who btw had the best college kicker I have ever seen, Martin Gramatica) lost to Texas A&M in the Big XII Championship, knocking K State out of the title game as well. Tulane actually finished that year undefeated, coached by Tommy Bowden. That UCLA-Miami game was one of the best I ever witnessed. Cade McNown, future NFL star QB!! I remember rooting for UCLA cuz it woulda sent Arizona to the Rose Bowl (who at the time I actually preferred over ASU). That was disappointing for Arizona, and they ended up playing Nebraska in the Holiday Bowl.

I have NEVER seen an invasion the likes of what the Badgers have mustered on So Cal...The only thing comparable I've ever seen is a Christmas Island red crab invasion.:dunno:

:rofl2:

Me too. I watched the game with a very good friend of mine who's a die hard UCLA fan. I have never seen a man suffer more :1orglaugh

I have also never seen a game in which a team missed more tackles
And yet McNown almost saved the day anyway.

as an aside: Gary Beban was interviewed on a radio show up here last week and noted that he strongly advised McNown NOT to sign with the Chicago Bears due to the organization's inability to develop young quarterbacks.

I'm with the rest of you guys there are some great games out there this year such as the Rose Bowl which I think is going to be a great game along with the Sugar Bowl and correct me if I'm wrong here but this will be the first time Arkansas will play Ohio State. The National Champion I hope will be a great shootout and Va.Tech and Stanford these guys here should be knocking snot from each others noses. For the rest of the games :facepalm:You know i is always fucked up when you screw over a 8-4 team (Temple) and go with those 6-6 teams no matter what kind of contract you have with the conference you just told those .500 teams it is okay to be just average and a great team well not so much great but a team that finished two games better you can't go bowling, hey this is what we get with no playoff

Could have been worse could have gone to double overtime with the score 0-0 :dunno:

i think the teams would have just shot themselves before second overtime. which would make for good reality tv ;)

so....anyone think Florida will be pursuing Mullen with Meyer stepping down? Or will Meyer return in two weeks? Maybe Charlie Strong? Oh! Shannon is available!

Wannstedt and Meyer gone...can I please repick my bowl game selections??:weeping:

I thought he resigned but he was still going to work with the Ath.Dept.:dunno:

2 things Pitt and Wannstedt.:1orglaugh Besides...I thought he resigned HC but is staying there in some other capacity.

I think it was one of those deals where he was perhaps asked for his resignation. That way, he appears to maintain dignity and could also pave the way for him to stay in another capacity in the program. I've read articles that phrase it both ways so who knows what really happened? :dunno: either way, his days of coaching the Panthers (or probably anybody else for that matter) are over.

I predicting sometime in January it will be announced Urban Meyer will be the head coach of the Denver Broncos.

Wow....really an interesting thought, Will. The timing is rather coincidental when you think about it. Do you have any sources to back this up or is this just speculation on your behalf?

That's why I'm waiting until closer to the deadline. Too much can happen between now and then.

You can count on it...:yesyes:

Can't say I'm too upset about Urban Meyer leaving. First of all, if its what he really wants, then good for him. Secondly, all the fucking arrests has been pissing me off, I can no longer throw the fact that our players aren't criminals in the faces of Vols and Noles fans.

As for a replacement, here's who I'd like, in order:

Bob Stoops
Charlie Strong
Kyle Whittingham
Brian Schottenheimer
Dan Mullen
Chip Kelly
Steve Spurrier

Of that list, I'd rate Mullen as the most likely. No way does Spurrier come back. He'd have to give up his membership at Augusta and no way in hell does he let that happen. :D

It's going to be Mullen. He's proven he can win at a school that simply put, does not win. I'll be enjoying the mushroom cloud rising from Starkville, though.
