Wow....really an interesting thought, Will. The timing is rather coincidental when you think about it. Do you have any sources to back this up or is this just speculation on your behalf?

Just speculation. But I am hearing stuff on the radio about Meyer being upset about the college game. I guess he's been losing recruits to Florida State. Maybe he takes a look at the NFL.

So another words now that he might not have more talent than almost everybody else and might actually start losing he quits so he doesn't look bad.

Talent wouldn't have been his problem at all...He has by most accounts a Tim Tebow clone coming in next season.

I think it has more to do with his health, family and he's been coaching 25 years...

I mean, the guy's only loss was the SEC Championship game last season and there were people actually bitching he didn't go undefeated...after he's already won 2 Championships in 6 years..

Can't say I'm too upset about Urban Meyer leaving. First of all, if its what he really wants, then good for him. Secondly, all the fucking arrests has been pissing me off, I can no longer throw the fact that our players aren't criminals in the faces of Vols and Noles fans.

As for a replacement, here's who I'd like, in order:

Bob Stoops
Charlie Strong
Kyle Whittingham
Brian Schottenheimer
Dan Mullen
Chip Kelly
Steve Spurrier

I bet it will be Tyrone Willingham, actually.

Wait...what are we talking about?

Alright...just remember your post if he's coaching somewhere else by about this time next year.

Lol losing recruits to Florida State. Have you seen their defense the last half decade? Their best quarterback this millenium was 28 years old.

If he's coaching in college next year, I will....

My main point is he's not running from the college game because of some notion that he can't compete nor recruit anymore. There's just no evidence either of those suggestions are remotely true.

If he was quitting just to take an NFL job...why all the histrionics? Why wouldn't he just have resigned from UF and gone right to the NFL?

It's clear he's had health problems and was diagnosed with some heart issue last season...faced with that...it's understandable him wanting to reflect on the lack of time he's been able to devote to his family. That just makes more sense IMO.

But the practical reality is the guy has coached 25 years and he's still relatively young....it's hard to believe he won't be back at some point in his life because frankly, he probably doesn't know how to be a guy just sitting around his family all the time.

If we could just get our hands on James Wilder out of Plant City,Florida we will be good to go

You already got him right?

As I understand it he wanted to go to Miami but Shannon was recruiting him as a LB but FSU told him he could play RB...

A friend of mine was at their game against Lakeland last night and from the sounds of it early on Wilder was putting on a performance. I don't know how the game ended up but he was pretty impressed with Wilder.

Tony Posada (6-5 325) is one of his OLinemen at Plant who committed to Michigan.:2 cents::nanner:

Now that Florida and USC are having issues, I think Florida State could turn into the best program in the entire country. But, it's going to take 2 or 3 years. I'm predicting an Alabama-like turnaround.

That is great i know it was a toss up with Miami and i heard he was a great player all around

I'm really hoping it happens that way we still have a way to go but if we can beat South Carolina that will be a great stepping stone for next season

Will Muschamp's gonna be the new UF coach.....

I wasn't too sure about him at first, but now that I've thought about it, I like it. I like that he's a defensive guy. I wonder if he'll bring Major Applewhite to be OC.

Hopefully he control the players off the field and filter out the criminals so they can go to Florida State instead like they used to.

--Never mind about my questionable Pitt/Kentucky pick. Hartline just got suspended.:2 cents:
--BAD NEWS: MY Spartans got hosed out of a BCS bowl bid. WORSE NEWS: We face 'Bama in our non-BCS bowl game.:(
--Cam Newton wins the Heisman, the O'Brien, the Maxwell, the Habberdasher, the Dynamohum, the Blameless, and the Laptop Trophies all in one evening.
--Bobby Petrino just got a 7-year contract extension as Arkansas coach. This guarantees at least a 12-point win over the Bucks in the Sugar Bowl.
--And lastly, Syracuse coach Doug Marrone has kicked frosh LB Malcolm Cater off the team for burglaring. This after the team's punter underwent brain surgery. Maybe Cater could use brain surgery.

I wish Urban Meyer had kicked off more players who did stupid shit off the field.

I don't care even if they guy turns out to be a future Heisman winner like Cam Newton. Go to class, pass, and obey the law or GTFO. Let shameless schools like Auburn and Mississippi take in those kids.

Muschamp is a great coach. He did a great job at Auburn during his tenure there, and did even better at Texas. If he can find a great offensive coordinator like Chizik did, Florida will be contending in no time.

 It still baffles me why people think Auburn did something wrong. The fact is, Cam Newton did make some minor mistakes at Florida. Who hasn't made mistakes. As for the pay-for-play crap, Mississippi and yes, Cam's stupid father did commit a serious infraction, but Auburn knew nothing about that. The SEC was informed of the scandal before the season even began, but as the allegations were against Mississippi, they had no reason to tell Auburn that Cam should not play. Everyone should also remember, Auburn declared Cam ineligible and the NCAA cleared him to play! What really pisses me off is all those idiot Heisman voters who intentionally left Cam off their ballots. Personally, I didn't care if he won it or not, but those voters allowed themselves to be swayed by hearsay and ignorance. As such, those 100 or so moronic voters should never again be allowed to vote on anything to due with college football! The same goes for those fools of the FWAA and leaving Cam off the All-American team. These are the same idiots who rescinded USC's national championship from the 2004 season and stated that there would be no champion for that year. My overall point here is this, let the NCAA do their job and stop listening to all the gossip the media spreads. The fact is, the media never wants a story to die. The longer they keep it alive, then the majority of the gullible public will tune in, and just give their hard-earned money to the media business.

All I was saying is that Auburn in shameless for bringing in a guy who obviously doesn't give a shit about going to class and had problems at UF. My post had absolutely nothing to do about the NCAA allegations. And I said Mississippi (not Mississippi State) referring to them bringing in Jeremiah Masoli after he got kicked out of Oregon.

Congratulations to Cam Newton winning the 2010 Heisman Trophy award.
(The implosion continues at Bama and how their season last year has been completely overshadowed.)

I like the University of Florida's choice in hiring Will Muschamp. I wish him luck.
