It's hard to say, because there's musically beautiful and lyrically beautiful...two completely different things. For lyrics, I think Jeff Mangum (Nuetral Milk Hotel) and Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie) have penned many beautiful lyrics. Musically, Radiohead & NIN have composed several beautiful songs.

knows petras secret: she farted.
most powerful song - eraser (downward spiral by NIN) gives me shivers everytime.

funny thing too is that im listening to a song from my days past this very second. its very pretty.

slow like honey - Fiona Apple.

L3ggy

Special Operations FOX-HOUND
Ghost Town - The Specials

Stairway To Heaven - Led Zeppelin

damn im more into jazz/rock fusion but errr "most beautiful song" sounds to me like an easy mellow tune to enjoy so in that case i'd go with New Slang by The Shins.
PS: Any Frank Zappa tune would do just fine heh.

I've been asked many times and I have an entire garage filled with beautiful lovesongs or harmonic melodies. It's hard to put a poll on this one but for me the vote goes for...

John Newton's legendary Amazing Grace

other songs from my "mile high"-list
Louis Armstrong – What a Wonderful World
Jeff Buckley – Hallelujah
Wham! – Careless Whisper
Prince – Purple Rain
John Lennon – Imagine
Ben E. King – Stand by Me
Paul Anka – Oh Carol (the original, I think, he does it best)
Unchained Melody (the Elvis Presley and Righteous Brothers versions)
The Beatles – Let it be
Johnny Logan – Hold Me Now
Dolly Parton – I will always love you (the original) och Heartbreaker
Simon & Garfunkel – The Boxer, Bridge Over Troubled Water
Michael Jackson – Man in the Mirror (masterpiece)
Celine Dion – Pour Que tu M’aimes Encore, It’s all coming back to me now (eeh... I prefer all)
Richard Marx – Right here waiting for you, Hold on to the night
Bette Midler – The Rose
Stevie Wonder – That’s what friends are for
Mylene Farmer - Dechechantée
Motown Originals – What Becomes of the Broken Heart (any version is fine)
.......

oh carol was neil sedaka

what? no one mentioned eric clapton-tears in heaven...he wrote this song for his son who passed away

the song i really like right now is photographs and memories-jason reeves...the song was also in a shot at love 2

Beautiful song...I'd have to go into the Opera or Symphonic field or the Jazz field. I like rock/pop music...but I don't consider it "beautiful"..

I'll go with something like "Take 5" by Dave Brubeck or Beethoven's "Symphony No. 9"
