Satyr and everyone...

I think I'd like to see a Hawai'i versus Kansas matchup somewhere. That would be a 70-68 type game filled with action.

I'd like to see Illinois versus Boise State. Boise is not a crap team. That could be a great game.

I do not want to see Michigan versus Florida...I think they've played a couple of times in the last 5 years...

The BCS has rendered the tradition of all Bowls as meaningless...I don't think the Rose needs to carry itself as this old-school grandpappy bowl anymore. Wake up Rose Bowl and go for the compelling matchup. USC versus Georgia is a great Rose Bowl..yes USC is Pac10..but get away from Pac10/Big10 unless it's #1/#2...

I agree; Kansas and Hawaii would be a score-fest. In fact, Hawaii could score on everyone with ease except USC.

The Rose Bowl should start marketing itself as Best Possible Match-up after the Championship game; while they score with the Pac-10 fans, bringing in possible National Champs would be a big draw.

The conferences around the nation need to end their play-off systems and just go with conferences wins, because the play-offs tend to screw them out of better bowl games...

Boise State should play on New Year's eve in a "name" bowl but I think they play in the Humanitarian Bowl that is conveniently in Boise. The catch is that bowl gets the WAC champ, but that's undefeated Hawaii. The opponent would be a team from the ACC...most likely the number 5 team (Wake Forest).

I love this plan though! Feeding MAC and Sun Belt Teams to teams like MizzU and WVU does seem that fair though. But if it is anything like NCAA Basketball, which I doubt, it could be interesting.

This may be sacrilege but a USC vs Illinois Rose Bowl is about as exciting as attending a Needlepoint Convention..

Completely agree. There needs to be a Bowl Selection Committee which can match the teams that aren't in the BCS so that every bowl has a compelling matchup.

Take Arkansas for example. They just knocked off LSU in Baton Rouge. They had a decent season. They MAY have the Heisman winner. They should be rewarded with a quality opponent. Say the Texas Longhorns. The Pigs vs the Cows used to be a HUGE RIVALRY back in the old SWC days.

Boise State is a quality team and they should play someone decent. Maybe Auburn. I'd watch that game.

The Big10 is down this year...maybe so. But people want to watch MeatChicken nonetheless. I don't know where the #2 Big10 team goes..so how about Meatchicken plays the #3 ACC team in the Holiday Bowl?

I like Cincinnati...I'd like to see Cincy play an SEC team. That would be a great physical matchup. Or, Cincy versus Florida State...that would be cool too.

The point is that a panel of ex-coaches and journalists could arrange some compelling matchups between all these bowl teams and we'd all be intrigued for the minor bowls. How about if the Conference that wins the most Bowl Games gets an extra $1mil from corporations. That would surely create greater conference allegiance amongst fans.

There are too many bowl games too...there should only be 40 teams rewarded with a bowl game. We can't REALLY scrape the bottom of the barrel for "success" like we do now. Some 6 win teams are simply awful...

My[/B] Top Ten Teams, week 12, end of the regular season in a year that there were so many different schools in the top ten...

1. West Virginia 10-1 - The Mountaineers were all over My top ten, at the end of the season, they sit at the top; is that a blessing or a curse?

2. Missouri 11-1 - The Tigers had one of those magical seasons, and their win against Kansas put them into My Championship game against WV.

To a great extent, yes. I'm thinking Oklahoma's going to take down Mizzou, so despite appearing less than stellar OSU may yet make the title game even if they aren't ranked 1,2 at this point.

I'd like to see USC v Florida/Georgia in the Rose..assuming Ohio State goes to the National CHampionship. I do think Okie is going to beat Mizzou.

I may be crazy but as the week went on I found myself getting more and more confident about the game. In their first meeting Mizzou lead after 3 quarters @ OU, before uncharacteristiclly turning the ball over twice in the 4th quarter to blow it. In his last 4 games (3 of them on the road), Daniel is 121-169 (71.6%) with 15 TDs and only 1 int ... Tony Temple didn't play in the 1st OU game ... the sooners RB Murray (13 tds, 6.0 avg.) is out ... their top pass rusher English has missed 3 games with an injury and may not play... Prediction ...

Missouri 41
Oklahoma 28

No pass rush from Auston English = Huge game for Chase Daniel

All of the above is true, sp00ner, and makes for a very solid argument that may very well play out that way. But it leaves out a couple of less tangible factors that it appears the linemakers feel will be decisive including 1) oklahoma's longtime dominace of mizzou, including winning 6 of the last 7 meetings and 2) all of the pressure is squarely on mizzou.
