If you red the quotes from Jerk-Off RR, he blamed the University because he didn’t know that some time forms for players existed. He is a douche.

Look at it this way HM. You are only 12 games (7 losses) from the start of the Les Miles regime.

If I had my druthers I'd much prefer Jimmy Harbaugh over Les. Both are great "Michigan" men but Jim is what UM would need after RR.

Fairly, RR has not just been disappointing...he's been a disaster. He hasn't accomplished anything except for put UM on probation faster than he could win.

I think that is unprecedented. I have to be honest, I supported RR as a candidate to replace Carr as far back as 2003 or 2004..

While I think he is still a good coach I'm getting convinced he was just not a good fit for UM. That is an often overlooked intangible.

You have to be able to relate to the culture of a university, it's town and the kind of student/athlete inclined to go to the school.

I think he's tried hard but I don't know if RR ever understood the difference between taking over a program like UM or any other preeminent program from what it was to take over at WVU.

I think he sees no difference and that's why he an UM are in the circumstances they find themselves in today.

Can't lie. I have a long time friend who predicted in 2 or 3 years Rich Rod would be fired and UM would be on probation.:crying:

This is a dark day.:(

It's nice that you believe this is really a big blow to Michigan. In the grand scheme, this is nothing.

The Dome had the Kim Dunbar scandal, ucla had "parking gate" and SC turned a blind eye during Reggie Bush and OJ Mayo and will be giving up basically all football wins in 2004 and 2005 on the hopes that that will suffice the NCAA, not to mention the self-inflicted hari kari that the SC Hoops program committed this year....

Come back when you have something REALLY SCandelous...:sleep:

This a really big blow to Michigan. Just like winning only 3 and 5 games in respective years is....

That is EXACTLY the problem...it's mentality (I feel) with RR and his staff that has UM in the position we are in.

IT IS a big deal at Michigan to have the worst season in school history, IT IS a big deal at Michigan to push the envelope and get caught up in violations. IT IS a big deal to miss a bowl game for the first time in nearly 30 years...

I don't think RR had/has a correct appreciation for these things and that is precisely why Michigan is in this predicament.

We've had an incident with our BBall program but the UM Football program prides itself more than anything on being above reproach. Or at least we did.:crying:

I wonder did the SMU fan take it like this when they got the death pently in the 80's:dunno:

You would think if Michigan was going to hire somebody they would have hired a person that knew how to cheat better, like the people at most other universities.

Yeah...hiring cheaters is not really our strongest suit.

I don’t know if it is so much about his cheating, the charges are pretty minor, but it says a lot about his organizational skills an institutional control.

FYI: Our biggest fear in Ohio is that Hairball will be the next coach of the school up north.

Exactly. Coaches get paid to win, not educate and not to see athletes through education. Plain and simple.

Yeah...hiring cheaters is not really our strongest suit.
The sooner you realize that there is no longer a connection between "Student-Athlete," the sooner you will win again :dunno: If you truly care about Student-Athlete than quit Div1 sports and join the Ivies :wave2:

We were all recently banging away on Dirky for his Notre Dame sentimentality with respect to joining the Big 10. Now, you've fallen into the same sentimental trap...:nono:

Every Uni with BCS aspirations does what Michigan did. Most do what USC did (pay off star athletes). If Michigan doesn't bend rules, well, enjoy the Citrus Bowl every year

Not true...UM competed well enough to keep it's alumnae happy without bending the rules.

You may be right but I certainly hope not. I love the game too much to accept the conclusion that one must cheat to succeed :(

To me the Big 10s biggest obstacle is location, not whether they're the most successful cheaters.

Here's to Michigan for their previously clean record. I hope this is just a mini detour off an otherwise admirably straight road :hatsoff:

Maybe, but if it was up to me colleges and universities would get out of the sports business altogether. That's what it has become, a business. It's not about education anymore. It's not about enriching the athletes lives. It's solely about the money and winning at any cost that they can get away with. It should have never got to the point it has now. It cheats people that try to develop higher education in this country, it cheats the people that don't get those spots that get taken up by college athletes that don't care and it screws over the athletes who make millions of dollars for the programs and get almost none of it. Not that I blame the student athletes. They are just doing what the system forces them to do to make it into their chosen profession and dream. Even if they don't want to be there they don't have much of a choice.

I would just as soon seen some true independent leagues that operated on the level the NCAA does now or for the NFL to have a true farm league. The athletes would get paid what they deserve, or at least closer to it, and it wouldn't make a mockery of itself or pretend to be something it isn't.

OSU President Gordon Gee wants Texas in the Big 10

Big Ten expansion: E-mails hint eyes are upon Texas
OSU's Gee says UT president 'would welcome a call'

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

OSU President E. Gordon Gee, above, has talked to Texas President William Powers about the possibility of Texas joining the Big Ten.

A decision about expanding the Big Ten might be months away, but e-mail conversations indicate that the University of Texas is an object of the conference's attention. And the school's athletic director isn't making a commitment to stay in the Big 12.

Ohio State University President E. Gordon Gee sent an e-mail to Big Ten Commissioner Jim Delany on April 20 saying that he had spoken with Texas President William Powers.

"I did speak with Bill Powers at Texas, who would welcome a call to say they have a 'Tech' problem," Gee wrote in an e-mail that was among several obtained by The Dispatch through a public-records request for documents and correspondence related to Big Ten expansion proposals.

Texas Tech is one of Texas' rivals in the Big 12 conference. Ohio State officials declined a Dispatch request to explain the "Tech" problem.

Today is supposed to be D-Day for USC. The NCAA is supposed to unleash ~HELL~ in terms of suspensions, fines, scholie reductions, vacated NCs, Reggie's Heisman, etc.

I think we all know why PC bailed to Seattle. He didn't want to coach at SC with the stigma of running a dirty program. Well, considering how many former SC players are being caught with various drugs now (my count is 5?) I'm guessing the dirt within the program ran way deeper than many thought.

Perhaps give the John Wooden situation at the moment, maybe SC will be sparred its day of reckoning one more week?

The Pac-10 is also making noise.

The Pac-10 set to invite six from Big 12:

Texas
Texas A&M
Texas Tech
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Colorado

i remember a while back when notre dame was being investigated a commentator said "notre dame broke some ncaa rules so Middle Tennessee Tech has been put on probation lol. if USC broke the rules i expect to see SDSU get scholly's taken away :rofl::rofl:

Wow. That is a thorough article. It seems to suggest that the Pac10 seems to be stepping up to the plate and thinking BIG. Texas seems like the big Domino. Strange to see how little Nebraska is considered in all of this talk. I guess ratings and dollar potential rules over tradition....

I can't think that the SEC would be all that interested in A&M. I bet they would welcome OU and OSU.

If the Pac10 grabs Texas and the Oklahoma schools...I'm guessing the ACC and Big East will have to quickly partner together to prevent the SEC from raiding the ACC?

The Big 10 would also immediately swoop in for ND, Rutgers..maybe Boston College too? :dunno:
