From your keyboard to God's ears, my friend!

Well thank you sir That game of couse will not decide the winner of the Big 12 South but the Texas-Oklahoma State game will

I know this sounds crazy but the best Big 12 game last season was OK State and Oklahoma I know the final score was 61-41 OU but if you guy watched it,It was very very very entertaning and hard hitting for lack of a better term it was Bedlam

Michigan will be the most interesting team to watch this year.

Watch them do what :dunno::1orglaugh Just kidding this year will be very intresting i think they will be 6-6 at best two more years I almost hate to say this and they will be competing for the Big Ten title might even be a champion game by then:thumbsup:

Well, Percy did have over a 100 yard rushing, and though he wasn't fully healthy, imagine how you would have faired without him. Oklahoma didn't even have Murray at all, who would have had a major impact during that goal-line situation.

DeMarco Murry is not an average player!!!! Probably more talented than Adrian Peterson!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zIVl4CaSEo

Florida was 12-17 on 3rd downs(mainly Tebow scrambling for), which is very telling statistic. Tim Tebow saved your butts in that game, especially in that final drive, 3 for 3 on 3rd downs(mainly Tebow scrambling). Just imagine if he didn't convert 1 or 2 of those 3rd downs, it would not have been a Florida victory. But :hatsoff: to you guys anyways, Florida did win.

Last time I checked Tebow needed our offensive line and the Pouncey twins to get those first downs. Not even Superman can do it only, Just look at the Ole Miss game. Yeah, and Murray supposebly being more talented then Adrian  lol... Would not have made a difference. Our defense would have shut him down in the redzone too. Torrey Davis would have eaten him up just as much as he ate Brown up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KmSjv7wNo9o

I have to say I lost total respect for Oklahoma after I say your players take cheap shots at Chris Rainey and Percy Harvin. Even led to this quote by Percy: "They can break my foot as long as they give me a national championship" ~ Percy Harvin... I mean to hurt Rainey really shows bad sportsmanship but I thought you guys were use to loosing in the title game because that sure does happen every time yall make it.

I think Randy Shannon has to win either Florida State and/or Okie to save his job. The U is a power program and the trend for recent power programs is to hire a coach and expect BIG THINGS in Year 3 (or sooner in some cases). It's time for the 'Canes to fish or cut bait (and bring in Gruden :thefinger).

I think the 3 games of the year could be: Oregon at Boise State, Georgia at Okie State, and USC at tOSU. These are MUST WATCH games for all fans.

I've got USC 28 tOSU 21 FIGHT ON!

You can't tell me he wouldn't have made it in at the goal line.

Not only is Murray a great runner and receiver, but he's also a great kick returner. A guy who could take it the distance at any given time. He was a big part of our offense, kind of like Percy is to Florida. But like I said before, you guys won fair and square.

My main point is that I just don't think Florida is a better team, or more talented, faster, etc... I just hate when SEC fans get arrogant and think they're better than everyone else just because they play in the SEC. Oklahoma could have easily beat you guys and you know it!

Yeah, I didn't like that either, and I'm pretty sure the coaches had a talk with them.

Yeah, sorry for being that arrogant SEC asshole here on this thread but there always has to be 1 right? Yeah, who knows what would have played out. What do you think OU's chances are of winning the Big 12 this year?

Well, it's very hard to say. Probably like 50/50. It's almost a toss-up between Texas and Oklahoma.

Texas has the easier schedule, so I think they're the favorite to win.... but, it all comes down the the Red River Rivalry(which will be the biggest game of the year). I think both teams want revenge.

Why is the SEC so strong? We know the SEC is strongest conference, but the question is, why? I have a few theories.

1. Population Shifts. In the last 25 years, states in the Mid-West and Northeast have either been stagnant or losing population, while the South has been gaining population. That gives the SEC a broader pool of talent to recruit.

2. College Football is more important in the South. Sure college football is just as important in most of Ohio as it is in SEC country, but not in Indiana, not in Chicago, not in Cincinnati, not in Minnesota, not in Wisconsin. Throughout ALL of SEC country even in Atlanta, college football is #1.

3. SEC States tend to be poor. If you look at the bottom 10 States in household income, 7 of them are SEC States. (West Virginia, New Mexico and Oklahoma are the others) (Georgia and Florida are not in the bottom 10) For many kids in SEC country, a sport (particularly football) is the only way out of poverty.

4. Climate. If you are a talented high school football player and you have no particular allegiance to any school, would you rather spend your winters in Gainesville, Florida or Madison, Wisconsin? Athens, Georgia or Syracuse, New York? Baton Rouge, Louisiana or East Lansing, Michigan? I know the summers are ungodly hot, but if you’re from the South, you are used to it and if you’re not from the South, you go hoe for the summer anyways.

5. Money, money, money. SEC schools have a lot more money to pay assistant and head coaches. They have more money because they sell more tickets (as stated earlier, college football is bigger in the South) and because the SEC has fewer sports to fund. Football and Basketball are the only sports that make money. So, athletic departments are funded by them. If there are fewer sports to fund, then the more money can go back into football. Example: Florida has 18 athletic scholarship sports, Alabama 19, LSU 14, Michigan 26, Michigan St 22, and the most of in college, Ohio State 37.

6. Home Field Advantage. Both times LSU won the National Championship recently, they played in New Orleans and Florida won in Miami last year. In fact of the 7 bowls that had an SEC team 6 were played in SEC States.

Thoughts?

Yeah, that was a really really good game!

I also thought the Texas vs Oklahoma game was very good too. People forget, Oklahoma was winning throughout most of that game. I believe Texas took the lead 8 minutes to go in the fourth and never looked back. 45-35

Oklahoma needs to learn to stop mobile QBs on 3rd downs. It's just killing us! :(

It's just major tradition to play Football in the south. Including Texas too.

Very good point!

Most of it's dead on.. Except for the fact that SEC schools have less sports to fund. Just look at Florida were good at many other sports other than just football and Basketball. SEC is all around good at most sports. The population part not so much. Other than florida there really isn't a state in the SEC that has that much population. Tradition is key... But were comparing northern schools and big east schools to the SEC. What about players that come out of the Big 12 to come to the SEC like Mattew Stafford? The other thing is that Florida doesn't have as much stuff you can do compared to a state like California. Thats why USC always has talent and Florida is basically the USC of the east. Still you will never find better athletes anywhere but Florida.

JZ I guess my point about scholarship sports wasn't clear. If one school has to fund 15 sports in their Athletic Department and another has to fund 37, than it makes sense that the athletic department will have more to spend on football even if the football program brings in roughly the same amount of money. So that gives the SEC teams the ability to not just get the top head coach talent, but they have the money to pay assistant coaches a hell of a lot more than other schools. Also, the money allows them to have superior facilities that help recruiting.

But it's more than just tradition. Ohio State has as much tradition, so does Michigan, Notre Dame, etc.

Good point about not all SEC States growing, but I would add Georgia and South Carolina to the growing list.

Being from the South I agree I grew up in Mississippi and now live in Memphis in which I call the heart of SEC country growing up in Mississippi was not cool all the time I grew up on a farm we did not have a lot of money but we made it and we look foward to Saturdays because of college football even thought it was the late 80's early 90's ther was no pro team but my point is you are right football was our way out and as you can tell it still is and for a lot of those guys like you said they are use to being hot and can handle it you made a lot of great points:thumbsup:

T-rock......why do you keep going there on this Randy Shannon do-or-die stuff? My buds in S. FL tell me it's not even a possibility. Everyone in Coral Gables is thrilled with his recruiting classes the past 2 years and he is in absolutely no danger of losing his job this year (unless the 'Canes just tank it). With that stud defense they have against a less-than-stellar ACC schedule, that ain't likely. Their first four games are murder but after that they should be able to contend for sure. There is no chatter at all in S. FL about this being a make or break year for Shannon. Even if they did let him go, I doubt that Gruden would be the choice to replace him.

Where are you getting this information or is it just some wild-ass fearless prognostication on your behalf???

If they let Shannon go it would be a big mistake he has really cleaned up the program which has me worried he has all his players in and no knuckleheads the could be the reture of the Hurricanes and lets face it Flordia aint big enough and now with South Flordia having good seasons now the state of Flordia is back on the rise :hatsoff:

Yeah, where are you getting this information from Titsrock? I'm hearing nothing about this being a make or break year. If anyhing, it should be next year, because thats the year Miami is expected to be good. :dunno:

Yeah, last year was painful to watch at times and there will be some growing pains this year with such a young team, especially at QB. I think you're on the money with your guess. At this point, I'd like to have them get back to a bowl game even if it is the Motor City Bowl.

But you know what that is a start remember they are still Michigan and will get those big name players that can help this team and by them running a Spread (That sounds weird for Michigan even in year two a Spread Offense so use to them running the I-form)anyway a lot of the kids love that type of play and with the coach they have it will take them far Good luck this season:thumbsup:
