You're a native Ohioan? Ever lived for long stretches anywhere else? I know it sounds weird, but I actually have 3 college teams that I root for in general but they are ranked in order of priority.....

Texas
Miami
Missouri

I lived in Texas on and off for a total of about 15 years. I became a Longhorn fan after their amazing and gutty performance in the 1996 Big 12 Championship game (beating the hated Huskers which will make more sense when I'm done) and have loved 'em ever since. My favorite team absolutely.

Likewise, I lived in Florida for many years and became a Miami Hurricane convert the year that Bernie Kosar and the boys beat those hated Huskers once more in the 1983 Championship game. I became completely caught up in the Hurricanes when Jimmy Johnson took over the program as well (I actually know him personally so it became a very easy transition). So, as long as they aren't playing the Longhorns.....I root for Miami as my second favorite team.

Lastly, I grew up in the St. Louis area and as a kid was a Missouri Tiger fan (Dan Devine era) when they were winning Big 8 (remember that?) titles pretty often and had some really great teams. That is where my hatred of the Huskers began and ties this whole thing back into the Miami and Texas programs. I still root for Mizzou although for many years it was basically a closet thing for me since they were so lousy for so long until Gary Pinkel got there. He's done wonders with the program and I always root for the Tigers unless they are playing the Longhorns or the Hurricanes.

Does that make any sense? If you've never spent a lot of your career moving around the country like me, you may not be able to relate. :dunno: I actually have the same type of loyalties on the NFL side with the Texans, Rams and Dolphins.

When it all comes down to it, though, I bleed burnt orange above all. Hook 'em!! :D

Gotcha. I root for other Big 10 teams, but that's about it.

But why should USC be in the title game last year? Just because Oklahoma has a history of losing big games, doesn't mean they don't deserve to be in the title game. You're just confirming my point, there is a USC bias that when ever USC has a strong team they should just be thrown in the title game. I don't think thats fair. It should go by record and strength of scheduel, which worked against USC. Everyone just asumes USC will just destroy every team they face.

USC doesn't deserve to be in the title game every year. I'm just saying, it seams like they get the short end of the stick.

Going back to my original statement, I was saying that if the Pac 10 had a conference championship and thus USC had a chance to avenge early season sloppiness like other conferences, perhaps we would see them in more national championship games.

Like I said before, you're just confirming my point. USC should be in every year just because they have a great history.

Yes, 2003 was bullshit, but they have tweaked the system since then, and as a Sooner fan I was embarrassed. Lets hope that never happens again.

Whenever there is a 3 way argument, USC does not get in. So where is the bias?

I watched, felt we should have won that game, but we didn't. There was a three way tie and Oklahoma broke it because of strength of scheduel. Was it fair? Who knows?! But Oklahoma did deserve to be in that title game!

The Longhorns were better and I thought the Trojans were better.

Yes, we always lose the big games, but does that mean Oklahoma and Ohio State should never be in a title game? NO!!!

Unfortunately, past losses seems to way heavier on the Big 10. Why wasn't Penn St in the argument last year?

With me saying all that... USC should be up for a championship almost every year. Instead of teams like Oklahoma and Ohio State. USC blew it last year.... I sure would have loved to have see Us vs the trojans. I even predicted that game at the beggining of the year. Well maybe this year?? Who knows. I just can't understand why College Football cant go to some form of playoff just like why can't america get universal health care? Are we insane or something. Status Quo. Well Somehow the BCS can come into place after over 100's of years of tradition and now the BCS says we can't go to playoff that will ruin traditon. I don't and never will get it.

I guess my point Jason is, if USC blew it by losing AT Oregon St by less than a touchdown, why didn’t your Gators “blow it” by losing to Ole Miss at home? Or Oklahoma “blow it” by losing to Texas by double figures on a neutral site?

Agree! But let's not encourage this. ;)

Very true, but like I said before, their strength of schedule and lose to Oregon St. played a major role. If you think about it, Oklahoma and Texas had the most impressive resumes, but there is no way you could put two Big 12 teams in the Championship game.

But whenever their is a clean slate, and USC is involved, people like to favor USC, just because their USC.

The Longhorns were better and I thought the Trojans were better.

I personally think Oklahoma would have crushed USC if they ever played that year. I wanted our revenge from 2004 and was hoping Texas would leap us to go the national title, and hopfully Oklahoma played USC in the Fiesta Bowl.

Their strength of schedule really sucked.

I am really tired of you disrespecting my team Jason.

Oklahoma left a lot of points on the field in that National title game. Just be glad that was a Florida victory and not a Oklahoma blowout. People keep talking how Florida has more speed and talent than anyone, but I really didn't see that in that game. It was really a one man show, Tim Tebow carrying his offense and scrambling to convert on 3rd downs. Also, remember Oklahoma didn't even have some of their key players in that game.

I really hope Oklahoma plays Florida again and Bob Stoops learns to stop mobile QBs.

Can't wait for January!

Ace Bandage

The one and only.
Tebow wins his second Heisman and Florida wins it's second straight national championship this year.

That is the one scenario I don't want to see play out this year. I 'll root for anyone, and I mean anyone except for that walking douche bag and the rest of the Gators.

My second favorite team is Charleston Southern, then Troy, then Tennessee.....etc.

Of course, it should be pointed out that both Florida and Oklahoma needed to bring Ohio coaches in to learn how to win! :1orglaugh

I never dis-respected your team. Yeah, and Also Percy Harvin our best playmaker wasn't even 100% so we didnt have all our players either. We also never opened up our special teams on yall. A blowout! lmao yall were lucky to be in that game and you know it. I'm just tired of seeing Oklahoma make it instead of a better team to the championship (Auburn in 2004). Dan Mullen's play calling was okay in that game but we got the job done. Not his best play calling game of the year. I knew when Bradford won the heisman you guys were done for. look you can root against douchebag tebow and my team all you want but that won't get your own team anywhere. Go Gators!

What? Every team has to bring coaches in to learn how to win. Look at all the great coaches! Where do you think the Bear Coached at before bama? Thats right Texas A&M. Same for spurrier Duke.

Well, Percy did have over a 100 yard rushing, and though he wasn't fully healthy, imagine how you would have faired without him. Oklahoma didn't even have Murray at all, who would have had a major impact during that goal-line situation.

DeMarco Murry is not an average player!!!! Probably more talented than Adrian Peterson!

Florida was 12-17 on 3rd downs(mainly Tebow scrambling for), which is very telling statistic. Tim Tebow saved your butts in that game, especially in that final drive, 3 for 3 on 3rd downs(mainly Tebow scrambling). Just imagine if he didn't convert 1 or 2 of those 3rd downs, it would not have been a Florida victory. But :hatsoff: to you guys anyways, Florida did win.

I would not say all that he might be a better receiver coming out of the back field but that is it remember when Peterson was a freshman he abused a lot of defenses My three teams I will keep a close eye on this year is Ole Miss,Oklahoma State (Which I think is this year's Texas Tech) and Michigan State but my heart and soul will be with Flordia State:hatsoff:

Well, I don't know that I would go that far, SR22, but most certainly DeMarco Murray's absence hurt the Sooners big-time last year. He is awesome. Plus, he's only a junior. OU looks loaded again. Should be another rocking season in the Big 12. I also agree about OSU....man, Gundy has them on the fast track. They used to be also-rans.....now, they are contenders.

So much fun to watch college football....it's better than anything else (well, almost anything else!).

BTW, I haven't done a lot of scouting on FSU this year. Miami opens against them. How do they stack up this year in your opinion?

well you know the FSU-Miami game will be a good one always is but they look pretty good on defense I'm a little woried about offense we will be really young but talented as always

I'm just sayin' both Stoops and Meyer are from Ohio.

Ohh okay I got you there. I actually did not even know Stoops was from Ohio. He was here at Florida at one time. Well Ohio pulls out all the great people including incredible pornstars such as Shawna Lenee! We should have pics per week this year in a thread..

Actually, I think Skyraider was quoting me, so I guess I'll take credit for that crazy comment. Murray would be top 15 prospect if it wasn't for his knee injuries. Hopefully he'll be fully healthy this season.

Miami fans bring a gat to every game.

Yeah well Miami's defense should be outstanding this year as well so it should be a good matchup. One of the best rivalries in college football!!

Ok, duly noted. We'll see what he does this year....hopefully, he'll be a non-factor when Texas plays y'all. I agree he's a helluva talent....scary good.

Miami fans bring a gat to every game.

Is that right? Hmmmmm....I've been to plenty of UM games....even ones back at the Orange Bowl and never saw anyone with a "gat" as you say.

 Do you have documentation on this?
