Or this. This one hurts to post. (I was sitting in about the 15th row, just above and to the right of the fans in the background)

Second favorite team? That concept is foreign to me.
I sort of agree. Purdue is my favorite team, always. My second favorite team is whoever happens to be playing Notre Dame that week.Second favorite team? That concept is foreign to me.

I agree, OSU vs. UT was a great home and home series. Would have been nice to keep it going, but in lieu of that the Bucks have future home and homes against Miami, Va Tech, Cal, Oklahoma and Tennessee.
I am in no way a USC fan, believe me, I hate the Trojans. I'm just saying I think they get the short end of the stick a lot of time.
Sure they lost to Oregon last year, but Florida had a loss and so did Oklahoma. The Sooners get blown out of BCS bowels every year, why do they get in instead of USC. Fla lost to Ole Miss, why the gators and not USC?.
In 2003 USC had one loss and were ranked #1, but didn’t get in the Championship game because LSU and a crappy Oklahoma team did.
Not to mention since the start of the BCS system, the Trojans are 6-1 in BCS bowl games.
Of course it wasn't the BSC that gypped Texas last year, it was the Big 12 conference rules that screwed over the horns. If anyone watched the Red River shootout, there is NO WAY Oklahoma belonged in the Championship game.
Everyone bad moths the Buckeyes but at least they are 4-3 in BCS Bowl games, Oklahoma is 3-5!
Read the post. I didn't say they don't care about college football. I said they don't all care about the SEC which was the exact claim you made.
And this has what relevance to the subject?
Your reading comprehension skills must not be very good. I never said it wasn't good (I watch lots of SEC football). Overall, it's very good.....as I already said 3 times now, the best overall talent in the country. It does give me pause to know, however, that there is a national network in addition to CBS that is going to focus on the conference.....that's what I said. Go back and read it. I've worked in the media and I can tell you a national TV network will not survive long with states like Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi and South Carolina as their base.
You seem to think that college football was invented with the BCS. Here are some statistics for you to consider, Jason:
Top 10 NCAA Division I (now called FBS) poll champions of all time and the number of championships they have won:
Notre Dame-12
Alabama-11
USC-10
Michigan-7
Oklahoma-7
Minnesota-6
Pittsburgh-6
Miami(FL), Nebraska, Ohio State-5
Army, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Texas, Tennessee-4
Seems to be pretty spread out to me (4 conferences dominant....):
Big 10-22
Big 12-16
SEC-15
Pac 10-10
Champions since 2000:
2000-Oklahoma
2001-Miami
2002-Ohio State
2003-LSU/USC shared (what a joke!)
2004-USC
2005-Texas
2006-Florida
2007-LSU
2008-Florida
So, again, for 3 years the SEC has walked off with the mythical national title. Great job....I give them their props, justly due. Hardly a dynasty however.
As I said in my original post, a national TV network needs a broad base of viewers in order to survive. They're taking a huge risk by competing with CBS (and ESPN and the Fox regional networks as well) in this regard. Although I feel pretty certain that you probably don't lower yourself to watching anything other than SEC football, most of the other fans across the nation would rather see their teams (usually based on regional preferences as Andronicus pointed out) than some second-tier SEC matchup (which is all this network is likely to get since I am sure that CBS gets their pick of games each week).
It amazes me that fans like you simply refuse to admit that anyone is worthy of consideration for respect other than your own team or conference. If that were true, why bother playing them? Indeed, what meaning does it really have if your team or conference beats a team that is from a vastly inferior conference?
There's a great quote from the movie Jeremiah Johnson where Grizzly Adams (Will Geer) tells Jeremiah (Robert Redford) that there is an old Crow Indian saying....."A man is judged by how mighty his enemies be". If the SEC's enemies are all weaklings, what does that say about them?
I stand by my original assertion that your initial reply to my post was ignorant and arrogant. Your follow-up did nothing to change my mind. From the general consensus of replies from the other posters, they would seem to agree with me.
LOL..... Why start out in 2000? why not when the BCS started? Yeah You would have to add Tennessee to that equation. And please all time championships!? Thats the joke.. Alabama has 12 and possibly more... ND ripped them off. But who was around to watch every team back in 1925? We didnt even have any source of media to vote. And don't get me on this because dominant teams like ND and Bama would steal all the players due to the fact that there was no restriction on number of scholorships, so for instance a School like Vanderbilt atop of the SEC in the academics department would hardly get any Scholorships for Football. SO can we really Count those Championships? The powerhouse Coaches like the Bear would recruit all the good players then hold them on his sideline so the other schools could not get them. So there you go. And this bullshit about USC sharing with LSU? lol What about fucking Auburn then? huh? its bullshit! So put SEC down for 5 since 2000! 5/9 how much better can you get? SEC owns..

You didn't address one single point that I made, Jason....including the premise of my original post.
Rant on, dude. If you are representing yourself as being typical of SEC fans, I'm sure glad not to be one.

I'm sorry this has to be said Tennessee is a joke then and now maybe be it is that I'm a Flordia State fan or maybe because of this

What kind of crap is thisas true college football fans this is something we will never forget
Good point Jagger
Okay fair enough what point is that? All I can say is if 5 out of 9 isn't a dynasty I don't know what is. Your just basically a big 12 fan who is looking for your conference to get some recognition after that horrible bowl season. Thats right that horrible bowl season. Too bad Ole Miss whiped up on Supposebly good Texas Tech. And Oregon whacked OK State. Key is defense then speed.. Then You Might have a conference that can contend against the SEC. Oh you also might need so pretty damn good coaches too. But im just a typical SEC asshole right? And the SEC is only getting better. hink we were good last year? We had so many new QBS.... Just reloading baby..
Are you daffy? Do you have some learning disability? Maybe you're stoned? :dunno: Maybe all three?
I'm serious.... what the fuck are you raving about?
Go back to my original post. We were discussing TV networks, dude. You need to get a fucking grip. Wow....over and out, man.
