I'll be honest...the only time I watch soccer, or for this thread, football, or in My spanish, futbol, is when El Copa Mundial rolls around! I love the excitement of the games and the superstars that each country has on the natonal team. While My love is for more American style of sports (football, baseball, and basketball), I can't deny the thrills that soccer has! I am watching the opening game (why is Germany letting the Costa Ricans slip behind???) right now!
My faves:
Brasil
USA (hee!)
Germany
England
I'm also pulling for Ivory Coast for this WC!

poland are not playing to the best of their abilities

What abilities??:dunno:

The Equadorians look like they can finish the runs that Costa Rica couldn't....Equador-Germany should prove interesting!

Well put Fox!!!

The first game was incredible - indeed I wonder if ecuador has the stamina to stand up to the germans; they were playing a slow team. My hunch is that Germany will outclass them, lest it be an upset. My biggest concern is tomorrow with Argentina. If they lose I will be pissed.

Ah to be unemployed during the cup - this is like a ***** come true...at this rate I'll still be jobless in a month.

been a belting opening day for this years World Cup.
not been short of goal, 8 goals in 2 games... not bad
Germany's 4th was amazing.

think the goalkeepers are right about the ball, it seems to have a mind of it's own.

Great opening for our Team. Good Offence, but a bad defence. It has to go in a better way against Equador.
If that what we see in the second game from Poland was there normal play, we should win on Wednesday.

Was a bit dissapointed with Germany, Was hoping for a typical German performance of old where they have a 1-0 or 2-0 withiut ever really excelling. Fancied Ecudor. Can't remember Delgado looking anywhere near that good for Southampton. Poland were unklucky and think the Germans will cruise this league even more so than I did before. Loved seeing Wanchope score a couple of goals though. The second just reminded me of his 1st ever Derby goal against Man United.

It's good to be the king...
Only got home in time for the second half of the Germany match - they looked good going forward, but the defence needs working on. Still expect Germany to qualify from their group, but they need to tighten that defence in time for the knock-out stage.....:2 cents:
