I know that Argentina is leading 2-0 but wow, I'm impressed by so many Ivory Coast players.

Argentina 2 - 1 Ivory Coast

GAME ON!!

From what I saw of the Argentina v Ivory Coast match, Didier Zokora and Yaya Toure should come to Arsenal. Wenger should seriously consider at least one of them. I know we don't really need another midfielder but Arsenal would be the perfect club for either of them.

Zakora was class in a glass. I think he would be suited to a few teams in the Premiership - Arsenal, Spurs maybe Man United.

Riquelme was superb as well and Ayala looked classy.

My comments on England.

Lampard should be dropped for Carrick as Lampard seems only able to take pot shots and can't dictate a midfield to save his life.

How much do we miss Rooney?

One of the more disturbing World Cup stories I heard this week is about the Iranian team, who are being supported by neo-Nazis, because of the anti-Semitic comments of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Some people on this planet seriously need :helpme: ......

 Is your real name Sven by any chance? :ban:

Lampard is shocking. His passing is normally safe however when he tries to play it adventureous it is woeful. He offers nothing defensively as he so used to playing in a midfield 3 with Chelsea. Also dropping him more importantly will allow Gerrard to play his natural game, i.e. go forward.

All he has is an excellent shot.

Re: Yeah! World Cup!!!

Talk about shocker...I can't believe Trinidad & Tobago tied Sweden...nice showing for CONCACAF so far.

Good job England didn't play Ivory Coast yesterday

Boy, did Argentina nealy $hit in their pants yesterday :) Easily the game of the tournament so far. Thrilling stuff it was

I wasn't suprised by Ivory Coast's performance. They are the dark horses in this tournament. The thing is that their players are physically very strong and very fast. They play quick football all of which makes it hard for the opposition regardless who they are. Thats why Argentina were struggling against them at times.

Ivory Coast go at the opposition very hard, especially when making challenges, they are very strong players and they do have good skills as well. Of course, technically, they arent that good, some sloppy finishing and defense could be tighter but they are more than just a underdog. I feel they will finish 2nd in their group and go through. Holland too, may $hit in their pants when they face them :)

But, if England had played them yesterday, and given the way England played in the 2nd half against Paraguay, Ivory Coast could have caused them problems. England were moaning about heat conditions (typically poms excuse :) ) but on the other hand Ivory Coast are a team full of energy regardless of conditions. You guys recall that ITV advert "where do they get their energy from? Now you know why :) :D

Thats three great posts fox...

might I add that Argentina's 2nd string kicked ass today!!!

2nd string?

You was only missing Messi and Tevez, Tevez for tactical reasons, Messi I guess more for his injury.

Zanetti was missed I felt, not sure how he didn't even make the squad.

Of course you heard that story. You'll hear a lot of anti-Iranian propaganda whenever they play. They're the axis of evil, remember. We're all the good guys.

The TRUTH is, the Iranian team despise their government along with 90% of the Iranian population. 100,000 fans BOOED AHMADINEJAD when he appeared at an Iran qualifier at Teheran's Azadi:

This team DOES NOT REPRESENT their government, they represent the people of Iran, back street soccer in comparatively impoverished cities... this team is the people's team... if you want to root against the Iranian government, don't root against this team because they - and their Balkan born coach - are eternally at bitter odds with the stifling Iranian federation and Iranian government.

Marco Van Basten's dutch team do not represent the new right wing Dutch government.
Lippi's Italy do not represent Berlusconi (nor do Milan).
Ivory and Angola do not stand for either side in their nations' civil wars.
And our USA team do not BY ANY MEANS stand for Bush or our military or whatever. The same right wing that boots out soccer loving immigrants and self-assuredly claims soccer will NEVER be big here? No way.

A team does not represent its government unless they openly declare so. A team represents the PEOPLE. Remember that.

I will be cheering for Iran as they are my home country and as - like any country - the people of Persia are good people, and generally NOT fascists by any stretch of the imagination: they are socialists more than anything, if any "ist" applies.

Er...I never claimed the Iranian team represented the ideology of their government. Blame the neo-Nazis for the inferrence...
The story is on several websites - I've added a few:

Argentina 1-0 Ivory Coast (Crespo)

 the FIFA should start a topless feminine worldcup
this pict make me think differently about argentina now..

But I'm still sad for Ivory Coast, they should have tear off a tie :(
poor Drogba, Kalou and K.Touré.. things will be difficult now..
Wait and See what happens between netherland - Serbia :2 cents:

Re: Good job England didn't play Ivory Coast yesterday

Right kib. The Coastians were real speedy, off and on the ball. The scorer of their side is a nice ball-player too. What they need is a little more experience to score from a half chance. THeir defence is good but each one of them go up and don't try to take advantage of the off-side rule.
But don't under-estimate Becks. He is different when playing for his country and one of the greatest game maker of the present. Did you see his crosses in the 1st half? Each one was sent with a address written over the ball.
Now awake to look at today's games.
