Bobby Petrino just resigned from the Atlanta Falcons and accepted a job with Arkansas...heading back to College. I think this is a great hire for Arkansas. Petrino sort of got screwed when the Vick fiasco went down.
I think Arkansas will have a 1 year turnaround...the Pig Nation have to be pretty geeked over this hire, imo...

Another highly touted Florida quarterback whose skill set probably won't translate will in the NFL. For the love of God I hope the Bears don't pick him up.

I think Florida's Tim Tebow will have a solid career as an NFL QB, maybe even an excellent one (deep playoffs, Super Bowl). He has a certain something... just a winning air about him. The Miami Dolphins would LOVE to have him right now! Me, I'd love to have his girlfriend..talk about PACKED with goodness!
Bobby Petrino going to Arkansas is... interesting. The Atlanta Falcons aren't worth staying on to coach for the final three games (the MNF performance killed any chance that the ATL will be on Mondays for a few years). And its an excellent hire for Arkansas and the SEC. But what i don't like is the constant job hunting that Petrino does...what kind of affect will that have on recruiting on a national level? I mean, if there is an out-of-state kid being recruited by Petrino, what guarantee is there that Petrino will stick around? He didn't stay for Brian Brohm!
As for Southern Miss, wow! Brilliant hire! Congrats CptHa! Do you know if he will coach the bowl game?

Jeff is going to, that'll give Fedora time to put his staff together. I was at the press conference today and OMFG!, you couldn't believe the energy in that room. There were enough seats for a few hundred people, and people were standing about four rows deep, news said close to a thousand, not bad for Wednesday at 1:00. I actually got the chance to talk briefly with him. I told him that us students are going to be packing The Rock next year. A lot of us down here are totally man crushing right now (not that there's anything wrong with that). Hell, the man uses Patton as his football philosophy! We going to come back. And there isn't a goddamn thing anyone can do about it. CUSA you are on notice. Southern Miss To The Top!!!!!!!
Petrino just made what Saben did look good by comparison. I have the same misgivings as you do. If I were thinking about going to Arkansas now, how sure would I be that the program would be intact a year or two from now with Patrino there?

UM must have tossed a lot of money at the WVU alum to leave home. But what sucks is that the players NOW have to go into the Fiesta Bowl without a coach. Steve Slaton and Pat White are totally fucked over, and most likely BOTH will opt out and go pro.
For everyone:
Should colleges wait until the bowl games and post-season tournaments to hire new coaches, that way any teams that are in said games do not suffer with interim coaches?

i would hope that rich rodriguez coaches WVU in their bowl game...at least show that college coaches have a little class this week...i think they should wait till afterwards, its only right
