Based on this season...it's hard to argue why there needs to be a College Playoff.

All there needs to be is a BOWL SELECTION COMMITTEE much like the Basketball Selection Committee for basketball, to make sure that EVERY BOWL GAME offers a compelling matchup....

Has there ever been such a crazy season before in the history of the NCAA? Every week the "Top" teams are getting destroyed or barely winning. I'm just wondering what the hell are the teams doing, are they just not taking the non-ranked teams seriously or is there just really no good overall strong team this season?

I'm not sure, but I also don't mind seeing other places other than the usual suspects have a chance to win the national championship.

Oh believe me I'm not complaining, you can't beat this kinda intensity and craziness wondering what team will be the next to go down. What is it right now only 13 of the original teams are still ranked or was my counting off?

how much would you bet that this sets a trend for seasons to come. I say this because i had been noticing the gap between smaller schools and bigger schools closing for a while now.

Players have to play and win every week and this year teams are paying the prices for fucking around and not being ready throughout every game in their season. Previously, teams could slack off and play bad and still pull out the win just because of who they were and how far behind other schools were. However, now that this gap is closing, more and more upsets and new good schools like Rutgers and USF are showing up.

Not to mention how a season like this will throw off recruiting and if there's a consecutive season like this, college football will be this way for a loooong time.

Oh I'd bet money you are absolutely correct, especially about the recruiting. Next year schools that never had top drafts will start to get them, and I'll bet a lot of players that are good but not great will start to take a look at schools like Appalachian State and USF instead of the main schools.

My new top 10, week 8, in which two from last week lost:

1. Ohio State (8-0) - Either the Buckeyes could run the table and go into the Championship game undefeated... or stumble and get a loss.

2. Boston College (7-0) - The Eagles take advantage of their bye week by not losing; it's been THAT kind of year..

3. Oregon (6-1) - The Ducks are rolling and waiting for the top two to stumble in front of them.

4. LSU (7-1) - Of course NOW the Tigers decide to make the crucial call; one of the best finishes, versus Auburn, I ever seen.

5. Oklahoma (7-1) - The Sooners almost got caught at Iowa State; they didn't look good at all.

6. Arizona State (7-0) - The Sun Devils celebrate rising up in My rankings by taking the week off .

7. West Virginia (6-1) - The Mountaineers put a severe ass-kicking on Mississippi State.

8. USC (6-1) - The Trojans face-raped Notre Dame 38 - 0 and new QB Mark Sanchez showing that the WR corp is actually really good... Is the problem old QB Booty?

9. Florida (5-2) - The Gators punched out Kentucky in the Bluegrass State and punched their way back into the Top Ten.

10. Kansas (7-0) - Rock Chalk Jayhawk! KU stayed undefeated by winning in Colorado.

The way that this year is going, I wouldn't be surprised if the Championship Game hosted both teams with AT LEAST two losses; everyone is talking about how the National Champion could have one loss ...

Huge weekend in College football....SC versus Oregon may decide the Pac 10...I think that one's headed for Overtime. Autzen Stadium is chaos and anarchy for the opposition.

Let's start the New College Coach Hire discussion....this is always a a favorite topic of every season...and there are potentially some HUGE jobs that will be opening up...College Football is a MASSIVE MONEYMAKER and Universities cannot stand by with mediocrity.

Here's a list of PROBABLE Jobs Opening up
Nebraska
Arizona
Michigan
Tennessee
Mississippi
Texas A&M

Here's a list of POSSIBLE Jobs opening up
Notre Dame
Arkansas
LSU (if Miles goes to Michigan)
Arizona State (if Erickson leaves)
Penn State

Here's what I see happening with some jobs
Nebraska -- NORM CHOW --Nebraska needs to take Callahan's West Coast offense and take it to the next level. Chow is a bit old and maybe not a good fit with Husker Fan. But that's why Tom Osborne is back. He can do the alumni grab assing at parties and booster meetings. Nebraska could also go with Mike Stoops or Ed Orgeron as Pure Defensive Coordinators.

Tennessee--DENNIS ERICKSON--The style and "big name" fits. Erickson could really make the Vols tough. Tennessee is desperate enough to sign him.

Michigan --LES MILES--I can't see this happening. Michigan won't recruit any player. They do have some standards which LSU doesn't. I'm not sure Michigan football is "above" LSU in the pecking order.

Texas A&M -- I think Franchione has screwed and lied his way out of College Station. He never has lived up to the hype he "earned" at TCU. The correct choice here is BOB DAVIE. This guy had the Wrecking Crew defense rolling..he isn't under Notre Dame's harsh recruiting standards and he's been studying all the best teams up close for years. He's prime to return here. I've heard Tommy Tuberville would take this job. I don't see that.

Arizona/Arizona State/Penn State--I think Bobby Petrino might take one of these jobs. I think Petrino is desperate to get the hell out of Atlanta. Maybe Nebraska could take a run at Petrino. I think the SEC is offlimits for Petrino. Petrino wouldn't need to take big dollars. He needs a job that can quickly establish himself as a good coach--with maybe a bigger school move (Florida State/Notre Dame) down the road...

My USC Trojans' season pretty much ended today in Anarchy, Oregon. The Ducks played pretty good...I'd say B+...and that was all it took to take out the Trojans.

USC is a young, sloppy, ill-prepared team this year. I think there will be another loss before it all ends. Sanchez played okay...but I suspect Booty will get the ball next game. Sanchez threw 2 horrific passes that were intercepted. We might as well let Booty finish out the season.

My main question is whether or not Steve Sarkisian is worthy of being the Offensive Coordinator next season. He got outcoached or he outcoached himself.

The game was not as close as the final score and final minutes indicated. Oregon was in control throughout and if they didn't go into conservative play mode in the 4th qtr they probably would've had another score.

SatyrIcon...I'm not sure I want to look at your top 10 this week...If there's any positives today..it looks like Overhyped Florida is going to lose again.

NEWS FLASH: The Ohio State Buckeyes ... are good!

My new top 10, week 9:

1. Ohio State (9-0) - The Buckeyes pass first REAL test by taking out Penn State...

2. Boston College (7-0) - The Eagles almost stumbled hard, but made a major comeback against ranked Top 15 ranked VaTech...

3. Oregon (7-1) - The Ducks knocked out USC Trojans rather easily, showing they can score on one of the best defenses in the nation...

4. LSU (7-1) - Bye week and the Tigers could use it with scare against Auburn and now going to Alabama next week...

5. Arizona State (8-0) - The Sun Devils are the new "cool kidz", undefeated, winning a slugfest with formerly #2 Cal.

6. Oklahoma (7-1) - The Sooners had a bye week and ready for home game against Texas A&M.

7. West Virginia (7-1) - The Mountaineers went to Rutgers and DESTROYED them.

8. Kansas (8-0) - The Jayhawks went to Texas A&M and stayed undefeated.

9. Missouri (7-1) - The Tigers had a wild game against Iowa State...42-28.

10. Hawaii (8-0) - The Warriors' QB Colt Brennan dropped 29-of-46 passing, 425 yards, six touchdowns on New Mexico State; needless to say Warriors won the game.

I think NOW is the time that the better teams are filtering UP the rankings and the weaker teams losing... The contenders are making their move!

Oregon's got a good chance to win out. They get Arizona State at home this coming Saturday, then play Arizona and UCLA on the road before finishing with Oregon State at home. If they do it'd be a crime if they don't jump an undefeated Boston College team considering the weakling conference BC plays in.

The Buckeyes pass first REAL test by taking out Penn State...

Penn State has lost to Michigan (who Oregon destroyed at Michigan) and Illionis and squeaked past Indiana. Still unconvinced OSU is any better than the best team in an unimpressive (though better than the ACC) conference.

Does Charlie Weis lose his job over this season? This is the worst season for Notre Dame football since electricity was invented and indoor plumbing was invented! Seriously...Notre Dame lost to NAVY!!!:nanner::1orglaugh

If I'm a Notre Dame fan/alumnus...this was the last straw. Charlie Weis has got to get thrown overboard for this loss. The Irish ship was sunk today and the program is on the brink of irrelevance after this loss, and season, really. If you're a High School 5 star..are you really going to consider Notre Dame after this season?? I don't think any would. This was the year Notre Dame was supposed to take a step forward....

Nebraska...wow...they got their asses kicked by a score I never thought I'd see. The blackshirts ran up the white shirt of surrender this afternoon and were bent over to the tune of 76 points..!!!...by Kansas!!!! OUCH! Talk about frustration release..I guess all the years that Nebraska kicked Kansas ass...the score was settled a bit today...wow.

It looks like Arizona State is a fraud team. They are currently getting pounded with ease by Oregon...

C'mon USC!! The Rose Bowl is still a glimmer of possibility!!
