NFL '26 Season Thread

It is being reported that Jacksonville has completed a massive extension with Travon Walker.

I wish I could receive a massive extension. I should have studied pass rushing while growing up instead of masturbating in my room.

Soon it will be 1PM here. There will no football today. Perhaps I start substances earlier on Sundays because I am missing football.

Travon Walker probably masturbated also so it's not really and either/or situation. People have done both.

Oh, no! Maybe the last we'll see of "Sexy Dexy," in G-Men blue?

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Giants DT Dexter Lawrence has requested a trade and will not attend the team’s off-season workout program.
Lawrence and the Giants have spent the last two offseasons trying to hammer out a deal, but according to Schefter, “there has not been any progress” thus far. Lawrence is a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time Second-team All-Pro who has spent his entire seven-year career with the Giants.

I read something about a doomsday scenario for the NFL with its current anti-trust case and it was basically no salary cap so richer teams could just outspend everybody like baseball. I prefer that not to happen. How fucking hilarious would it be if the only time in this country's history 32 billionaires don't get exactly what they want is when I am on their side!?

Addendum: As I understand it, at the moment this is an NFL vs US government dispute. This is not labor vs capital (yet). I hope you all know me better than that.

Eagles acquired WR Dontayvion Wicks from the Packers in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter breaks the news, adding that Wicks will now sign a one-year, $12.5 million extension with the Eagles. Over the last four weeks, they also signed WR Hollywood Brown and WR Elijah Moore as well. Schefter reminds us that if the Eagles were to trade away WR A.J. Brown, that would probably happen after June 1st, “when the cap burden would be more manageable for the Eagles.” As things currently stand, Wicks will likely compete for WR3 duties. The trade also leaves Packers WR Christian Watson, WR Jayden Reed and WR Matthew Golden as the team’s top-three options. They allowed WR Romeo Doubs to sign with the Patriots last month.

Today I saw something which would appear to indicate Carolina might be thinking about another Alabama quarterback at #19. They still have not officially activated Bryce Young's 5th year option. I do not know how to feel about this. It's probably nothing.

Will Anderson Jr has signed a massive extension making him the highest paid non-QB in league history.

The Draft is this upcoming week and I have Friday off so I won't have to get up early. These are things I look forward to in my life.

Dexter Lawrence to Bengals for 10th overall pick. NYG now have the 5th and 10th pick in 1st round.

Dexter Lawrence was paid 28M today to offset the unpleasantness of having to live in Cincinnati.

I do not have to work tomorrow but I will not be using THC because I will be up late watching the Draft. The last time I did not get high the night before a day off was last November because Carolina had a Monday night game against San Francisco. This means tonight is second time being an NFL fan has reduced my **** use.

The 1st round of the NFL Draft is in the books. Biggest surprise appears to be the Los Angeles Rams taking Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson at 13 with the pick they got last year in a trade from the Falcons. Doesn't really help a team which is in "win now" mode but I guess they are thinking long term.

Carolina drafted Georgia OT Monroe Freeling. Offensive lineman are not exciting picks but I understand the logic here. Last year's starting LT, Ikem Ekwonu, tore his patellar tendon in the playoff loss to LA so his status is unknown (he is probably better suited at guard anyway) and starting RT Taylor Moton is on the wrong side of 30. Like I said, not sexy or exciting but winning teams are built in the trenches.

Ugh.. I follow two teams. The NYG took an OLB with the 5th pick .. and they already have three stud OLBs.. What the fuck?? I like the second pick, #10, the Offensive Tackle. G-Men always need the beef up front!

The other team I follow is the Buffalo Bills. Who it appears traded back with Houston. So - punt on that one. "In general," I heard this was a weak draft, so - on the surface, I'm good with it.

The Draft is ongoing. Carolina drafted a defensive tackle and a wide receiver yesterday. I have every expectation they will both be immediate impact players and Carolina will go undefeated next season.

Looking back, it would have been ideal for my life if Carolina had won the Super Bowl in 2013 (as in the 2013 season for which the Super Bowl would be played in calendar year 2014). That team was good, won the NFC South but got bounced in the divisional by San Francisco. If they had won it that year, I would have achieved a level of sports related positive emotion which is no longer possible today. The ceiling has been lowered in the intervening years that previous heights are simply no longer on the table. Don't get me wrong - I am still going to be absolutely insufferable if they manage to win a Super Bowl but age tempers many things.

I had something that I thought good about Roger Goodell being the highest paid non-quarterback employee of the NFL because he is a non quarterback. ANy human who is not a quarterback would be, logically, non quarterback. It just fell apart I couldn't sell it.

The Colts are not activating Anthony Richardson's 5th year option. On the other side, Carolina has activated the 5th year team option on Bryce Young in his contract as a 1st rounder. Houston will absolutely use the team option on CJ Stroud if they have not already done so.
