Hmmmm - apparently NE @ SEA will be a Wednesday night game. Thursday Night will be SF @ LAR.
Ooooooo - the first game of the year will be CAR @ ARI - in Canton, OH - the Hall of Fame game!
I hope Jealen Phillips or Nic Scourton is like All-Pro this year because it has been so long since Carolina has had a star pass rusher I could watch on passing downs. Julius Peppers and before him Kevin Greene in the 96-98 era. The good defenses they've had since then did not have that singular pass rusher you focus on and feel rewarded when they get to the quarterback.

Aldon Smith has died.

I was watching a video on YouTube of a local sports personality talking about whether or not the Panthers should be interested in disgraced Texas Tech quarterback Brandan Sorsby I know it's actually Brendan Sorsby but I am high. At the start of the segment he explained the Supplemental Draft which I of course already knew about and needed no explanation. This must be what it was like to be one of the smart ******** in school.
Regarding the Supplemental Draft and Sorsby:
"The League has not conducted such a draft for several years and, prior to your submission, the League had no plans to do so this year, as no other player has sought entry," the NFL's management council said in a letter to Sorsby, obtained by Rapoport. "Your Petition -- filed three business days before the deadline, without any supporting information or documentation, and only after abandoning your recent litigation efforts to avoid NCAA sanctions -- does not provide a basis for the League to alter those plans. The issues presented by your Petition are too significant, and too closely tied to the League's core integrity interests, to permit meaningful review within the timeline presented."
But, also:
"The current collective bargaining agreement allows the league to decide whether to hold a supplemental draft or not."
So, all Sorsby is doing is .. getting publicity by filing the lawsuit.

Lions waived CB Terrion Arnold.
Just hours after it was announced that Arnold’s bond would be set for $1 million, the Lions have opted to part ways with the former No. 24 overall pick. Arnold will now go on waivers, where he will presumably go unclaimed, and is likely to remain unsigned while he works through his legal issues. He is facing multiple felonies, which include four counts of ********** and assault, and could be sentenced to up to life in prison if convicted. Arnold has appeared in 24 regular season games in his two seasons with the Lions, totaling 91 tackles, one interception, and 18 pass breakups.Regarding Sorsby and his lawsuit:
Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby will not pursue further litigation against the NFL and instead will focus on his entry in the 2027 NFL Draft.
The NFL, NFLPA and Sorsby combined to reach a settlement wherein Sorsby resolves any claims on the league not holding a supplemental draft in exchange for being eligible for the 2027 draft with no additional discipline for any prior conduct. That last bit of the sentence is the key part, enabling teams to select him in 2027 without fear of a suspension. (Barring new evidence, of course.) It never made much sense for Sorsby to try to test the NFL given how easy it would have been for the league to retaliate against him. This is probably a pretty decent outcome for him, all things considered. We have no idea where or how he’ll play in 2026 at this point, but he figures to be a risky Day 2 pick if he can’t show improvement on some football field68 days until the return of NFL football so today we honor Will Shields, guard for the Kansas City Chiefs.
