Indeed. I have talked to a bunch of Saints fans on some sports forums and the common consensus is that the bounty program sure as hell didn't look like it worked at all if you look at the lack luster performance of the Saints' defense this year.

But look at what they did in previous years during the playoffs. Sean Payton, Mickey Loomis and Gregg Williams all have got Super Bowl rings and a lot of it had to do with the bounty program.
Just look at the game film of the games against the Vikings and the Cardinals for proof.

Yeah, you're right.

It is going to be a long year for Indy. Peyton went 3-13 in his first year before they turned it around. There's no reason to expect the Colts to do any better in Luck's first year.



I still like my bold prediction from February of this year:

Colts will cut Peyton and his 28 million salary, sign Andrew Luck, and use the remaining cap money to shore up the defense.

We'll be contenders again in 2013, but the Colts will only win 6 games next year.

I guess it wouldn't be too good to remind you that those Colts also developed and had one of the best front office staffs in the league and that's why they went through a decade of incredible success along with having Manning, although near the end they were starting to slide. Almost all those good front office people are gone now. Even if it's assumed that Luck will be around as good as Manning was, which is unlikely, the chances of the Colts getting the personnel of the skill they had before to run their team like they have the previous decade is slim, or at the very least will take a long time barring incredible luck.

Recent mocks seem to have Fletcher Cox going to St. Louis or Jacksonville and, thus, being unavailable for Carolina at 9. In such a case, Justin Blackmon or Luke Kuechly would be ideal.

Jonathan Vilma for the entire 2012 season, Will Smith 4 games, Anthony Hargrove 8 games and Scott Fujita 3 games.

The Saints only lose 2 players as Hargrove and Fujita moved on to other teams.
