NFL '11 Season Thread

No. I have a hard time watching games that don't involve the team that I'm a fan of. I just don't have any rooting interest so I find it hard to sit through a whole game, I don't really care who wins.

Unless the game is going poorly and it colossally sucks, I think of myself as a fan of the sport almost as much as I'm a fan of my favorite team and will usually watch it for that reason.

Pretty good game tonight. Game down to the last quarter. Josh Freeman is shaping up to be a clutch QB. Game could have gone the other way if not for him and LeGarrette Blount. Why the hell was Blount undrafted again?

.....oh yeah...Completely slipped my mind;)

something ive been hearing, from media commentators, not from teams or actual players is that teams like the Colts and Vikings should throw games away and get the first pick in hopes Andrew Luck comes out to draft him. Should teams bank on that? everyone thought he would come out last year, and theres no promise hes coming out this year.

Is anyone seriously wanting to watching tonight's game?
:dunno:

Whoops, I forgot there was a game.

Same here. Football is way too fucking long a game to be watching games where you have no rooting interest. College I watch a good share of games, but not NFL. Now soccer, the games are less than 2 hours, so I can enjoy a handful of games in a short amount of time.

The thing about that ordeal that troubled me was not the punch. It was how the pansy ass Boise State players failed to stand up for their teammate. They stood around and watched it happen, and no one retaliated nor at least got in Blount's face. If I were Hout, I'd be pissed. Pussies.

The Vikings just drafted Christian Ponder a young QB. they have other needs for instance a left tackle. The Colts expect Manning to play the next 3 years so i do not see them drafting a QB. The Kansas City Chiefs on the other hand should tank the season as Matt Cassel is not the long term answer.

To late, miami is going to beat them to him..

That's why fantasy football is so great. Last night I was cheering every time Blount broke a run. I hate the Bucs.

The Colts won't take Luck. It would be a waste of a pick, considering other glaring needs. They need to do what Green Bay and New England did. They don't need a QB now, so take guy who's not ready yet, but his ceiling is limitless.

I'm not the best at reading lips, but did Hout call Blount a monkey??? Let at it closely, yo... it looks like he calls him a monkey, then takes a quick nap! Hot damn!!!

I don't know about my YTD ranks, but I know I am 2-0 in my upset picks...so here's my picks...

New Orleans @ Carolina
Kansas City @ Indianapolis
Philadelphia @ Buffalo
Seattle @ New York Giants
Cincinnati @ Jacksonville
Tennessee @ Pittsburgh
Oakland @ Houston
Arizona @ Minnesota
Tampa Bay @ San Francisco
New York Jets @ New England <---UPSET PICK
San Diego @ Denver
Green Bay @ Atlanta
Chicago @ Detroit

:2 cents:

New Orleans @ Carolina my shocker pick of the week
Kansas City @ Indianapolis
Philadelphia @ Buffalo
Seattle @ New York Giants
Cincinnati @ Jacksonville
Tennessee @ Pittsburgh
Oakland @ Houston
Arizona @ Minnesota
Tampa Bay @ San Francisco
New York Jets @ New England
San Diego @ Denver
Green Bay @ Atlanta Falcons get a little measure of revenge, plus their desperate for a win
Chicago @ Detroit

New Orleans @ Carolina
Kansas City@ Indianapolis
Philadelphia @ Buffalo
Seattle @ New York Giants
Cincinnati @ Jacksonville
Tennessee @ Pittsburgh
Oakland @ Houston
Arizona @ Minnesota
Tampa Bay @ San Francisco
New York Jets @ New England
San Diego @ Denver
Green Bay @ Atlanta <--- greenbay's gotta lose eventually
Chicago @ Detroit <---but, Detroit doesn't. And also, megaton doesn't catch 2 touchdowns.

New Orleans @ Carolina
Kansas City @ Indianapolis (The Ravaging Injuries Bowl)
Philadelphia @ Buffalo (I'm not convinced the Bills are great, and I'm not convinced the Eagles suck)
Seattle @ New York Giants
Tennessee @ Pittsburgh (If the Steelers were 3-1 or 4-0, I'd pick Tennessee. But there's no way they fall to 2-3. Great, underrated rivalry btw)
Oakland @ Houston (Similar teams. Both trying to go over the hump, both have great offenses, neither can play a lick of defense.)
Arizona @ Minnesota (Both probably circling this game as their opportunity to turn things around.)
Tampa Bay @ San Francisco
New York Jets @ New England (Same reason I picked the Steelers)
San Diego @ Denver
Green Bay @ Atlanta (Yeah, um it's hard not to ignore the last time this fixture took place)
Chicago @ Detroit (Bears do nothing to dispel STDiva's preconceived notions with the man himself in the audience)
Cincinnati @ Jacksonville (Jaguars = Crappy team who is great at taking advantage of their few opportunities at wins, thus inflating their win total which is misrepresenting of the team's actual strength. They win close and lose badly. Basically the exact opposite of the Lions [up until this season] and Raiders.)

RIP Al Davis, a true rebel.

In his brief tenure as AFL Commissioner he encouraged owners to aggressively pursue NFL stars and also helped convince 3 NFL teams (Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Baltimore) to jump from the NFL to the upstart AFL which led to the merger.

Davis also successfully sued the NFL when they attempted to block the Raider's move from Oakland to LA, paving the way for other franchises to relocate. Then after moving the team back to Oakland he tried to sue the NFL again claiming the league didn't do enough to help the team secure a new stadium with luxury suites in the LA market.

He made his teams worse by his inability to adapt to the modern game the last decade and his unwillingness to hand more control of his team to people that were better at getting good talent and good coaches, but at one time Al Davis was one of the best and really knew his stuff about football. He was one of the biggest driving forces of the emergence of the AFL.
