horror movies

He won't answer if he's Bart Davis from Alabama. It would require hitting N and O then enter. Why can't he do that? He's clearly not busy with anything else at the moment.

lol

Pay attention, he said on the last page he put you on his ignore list. If you wanna keep trolling, pick another thread. Thanks :)

Back to horror, I was thinking of watching Black Water, but I'm very sketchy on the quality of it. Anyone have any insight?

I haven't heard of Black Water... although it does remind me of The X Files though that title but I know it's nothing to do with it.

I agree there as we seem to as audiences rely on the castings really to pull people to see a film like Rutger Hauer in the new Dracula film that's coming out that I remember someone said the photos looked like a set up Digital Playground would have done but besides that I want to see a really good movie, good story and great horror that doesn't rely just on a name.. People may shoot me in the foot for saying it but I loved Blair Witch Project as it was a good psychological horror really - even thought we are also an audience that likes special effects... A true great film shouldn't need those gimmicks just to sell seats.

But those are my two cents.

i believe it was steven spielberg who said something along the lines of "nothing beats the monster in peoples imaginations. less on screen is better." thats most likely why films like the blair witch got the reactions they did.

not knowing whats behind you is always worse than knowing

Thanks, maybe I'll check it out tonight :)

It's a croc movie, which normally would have turned me from it. But after watching Rogue (which was really good), I wanna see if I can find another good one!

Ah right.. I have to say I haven't watched many Croc movies but I saw Lake Placcid which was a good funny movie... I am more into sharks for horror movies myself really with Jaws as my all-time favorite but Peter Benchley's second offering Creature was good too.

Oh man, pornlover is you haven't seen Rogue, check it out! The croc is actually mostly CGI, which sounds bad I know. But it looked really good and I checked afterwards and the movie had a 26 million dollar budget, which it looks like 90% went to doing the crocodile. Plus when it shows him it is usually darkened or in water. I highly recommend it :)

again, great description of a film

although you are right that the timing and delivery is off at times, the originality of the story kept me in it. having the other "slasher kings" mentioned as if they were real was also a nice touch.

if you enjoyed "behind the mask", you should enjoy at least 75% of cabin in the woods if you havent seen it already. it is a rare "major release" horror film that i have actually enjoyed in the past 5 years or so.

i hope he is right as well. there are 2 versions of the trailer released so far, and there isnt much of a difference between them.

i wont dismiss the film until i have seen it, mainly because its an argento.

Thanks, man.

I might have sounded more harsh than intended; I did enjoy the movie overall. I just thought it failed to be something much more iconic...something that it easily could have been. It was unique and original enough to be like a more highly regarded counterpart/companion to Scream. Scream for the true slasher junkies, ya know? The concept had me really excited, but I felt it fizzled a bit.

Oh and I kind of saw the "twist" coming early on.
As soon as Taylor refused the beer at Eugene's place, I knew she was going to be the survivor girl.

I have yet to see Cabin in the Woods and I'm not a Joss Whedon fan at all, but I have heard nothing but positive comments and praise about it. So I'll be sure to catch it as soon as it hits DVDS/Blu-Ray.

Yeah I really liked "Creature" also....Gotta check out "Rogue"

will try to find a copy of Rogue

You won't be disappointed :) If you like Same Worthington (I don't) he is in it before he was really popular. Along with Radha Mitchell and Michael Vartan. It's also made by the guy who directed Wolf Creek, which a lot of people like (but I wasn't a huge fan of). After I watch Black Water I might try watching Primeval as well.

Ooops my mistake typing "Same" Worthington above. Figured I would pop on and mention I downloaded House on Haunted Hill (the remake) tonight and am about to watch it, since I have seen it in a long time. It's such a fun horror movie and one of my favorite remakes :) The walk that Dr. Vannacutt does is definitely still gonna be creepy!

I can't wait to go to the Fright Night Film Fest at the end of June in Louisville. Two actors from Child's Play 2 will be there this year.

i am a fan of any horror convention where celebrities show up. theres something about meeting an actor from a horror film that is almost priceless.

Thanks, man.

going into the film, i was very critical of whedon... especially with the avengers looming. but ill say, for the most part, he did a good job.

Has anyone seen Guillermo del Toro's Cronos? I honestly haven't liked any of del Toro's films but that's what made Cronos such a pleasant surprise and it features my favorite Ron Perlman performance. It's not a scary movie but it aint some sappy soap opera vampire love story either.

Also re-watched The Legend of Boggy Creek and it's cheesier than I remembered but it has it's moments. It wasn't even all that scary when I was a kid. Daniel Myrick even admitted that Boggy Creek influenced him when they made The Blair Witch Project. Charlies Pierce also directed the Town That Dreaded Sundown and I really didn't care for that one. It might have been scary for it's time but it was pretty much tame by late 1980's standards.

thats an enjoyable movie. aside from the "eye candy" of the female cast, i think they did a good job remaking it. although its not much, i like james woods character probably the most

and out of the group of remakes made at that time, its probably my favorite as well

i suppose i can see how del toro can be an acquired taste as a director... he seems to make 2 kinds of movies. theres the "blade 2" and "mimic" types, that are more of the popcorn variety, and theres the "pans labyrinth" and "the orphanage" that make you think a bit more, and have (in my opinion) great visuals, and the ability to suspend disbelief a bit easier. although cronos was early in his career, its a bit of both of those

and youre right about "boggy creek". in certain parts, it always struck me as a film that they would show you in grade school or something. :D (like the second video below)

You mean Geoffrey Rush' character? Though he does sound like James Woods :)

Guillermo del Toro didn´t direct The Orphanage, he was the producer on that movie. J.A. Bayona directed it.

Honestly, I love Del Toro's movie, most of them anyways. In fact the only one I don't like is Mimic. Blade II might be my fav of his, though, followed closely by Pan's Labyrinth.

it certainly does look brainless... but it has strippers, and robert englund

although i havent seen it yet, the trailer for inkubus didnt look all that bad

Yeah the trailer for Inkubus looks kinda interesting. Englund did another movie I saw a while ago like "Strippers vs Werewolves" called "Zombie Strippers", which featured retired PornStar Jenna Jameson (A horror movie geek who's favorite horror classics are "The Thing" and "Nightmare On Elm Street")....

The budget was much smaller for the Zombie flick, but Englund's role was much bigger...Obviously niether movie would be considered a cinematic masterpiece, but I liked "Zombie Strippers" better...The plot was not as good as the Werewolf movie, but "Zombie Strippers" had more action and gore...Although both films had their share of naked beauties, which is always a plus in movies of this variety.
