The 3rd period was boring. It seemed that the Swiss didn't have alot of shots on the net throughout the game. I am still looking forward to US vs. Canada, and will probadly watch the Canada vs. Norway game tonight

They didn't, I think they said they had only 14 shots on net or something.

Another gold medal for Canada! Booyah!

I thought the Americans played a decent game against the Swiss. Third period was bad, but it seemed to me that, no matter where the Swiss had the puck, an American was always right there.

It's like Coach Nelson was saying though, the US does'nt have whole lines on their team like Canada w/ the top three from SJ and a few of the D having played together before. Maybe they should have put Langenbruenner and Parise on a line and maybe have put Buflugyn and Kane on a line as well? There is just no nucleus there like the '02 team with Roenick, Guerin, Modana, Amonte, Hull, Hatcher, Richter, Chelios. Fucking shame they did'nt win the gold that year with Herb on the bench.

Watch out for the defending champs (Sweden) and the Russians. Both of the teams are legitimate contenders. Also the '98 champs with Jagr and company. I now think the Canadians will win it now though after the way I saw US play.

Dear sir,

Suck it, Trebek.

Love, Dirk.

I actually feel sorry for Canada. I mean, you have one major sport and America has four. It would almost be plasphemy if the Canadian men (and women) did'nt win the gold. I do think the American women have a far better chance after observing both them and the men, and the Canadians look like they're on a mission. They will be tough to beat. But as three of the last four gold winners suggests, Canada is going to have to earn the gold.

So far, I'm not enjoying hockey... pros in the Olympics is bullshit. Canada, Russia, USA are all stacked. Its not even Olympics any more, its just 2 weeks of an nhl all-star game.

ahh thats just bullshit. america does not have 4 major sports. im assuming your listing the other 3 as baseball, basketball, football. il give you basketball for sure, football..yea even though its a rip of rugby but baseball...no. first of you can barely call baseball a sport one gets more exercise from golf than from a game of baseball, plus its a sport now dominated by people that were not born in the us. i may have gotten off the topic of the thread. canada mens hockey wins gold over sweden(5-3). us womens wins gold over canada (3-2)those are my predictions.

America has four? Which four, pray tell? Outside of hockey, I'd say Canada has a mighty fine chance with skiing events, luge events, curling events, and the fucking you from behind events.

Sounds like a pretty good lineup.

He's talking about sports leagues, for some odd, unrelated reason.

Wow. The board is restless tonight.

Your major sport is hockey. America has four major sports (leagues): MLB, NBA, NFL, and the NHL. Of those four, I easily prefer the latter, by far. In fact the NBA and NFL really make me sick with all unsportsmanlike antics and criminals, and baseball is loaded with druggies. Always the NHL'ers were the coolest dudes when we went down for autographs a few years ago. So lighten up, "America lite," we're just pullin' yer chains. :D

Your logic is unsound. Canada has three major sports leagues: NHL, MLB, and NBA; four if you include the CFL, five if you include MLS.

That's true. But...one MLB team? One (or two MLS team)? One NBA team? You guys had the Grizzlies, Expos, Jets, Nords', etc. Anyway...I don't think there's a helluva lot of love for the NBA or MLB up there. In fact I know there isn't. It was cool to see Nash and canadians field an NBA team and baseball team for the world baseball classic however.

The one and only.
America only really cares about football, baseball, and basketball. Judging by TV ratings and revenue, everything else is irrelevant. How is Beckham doing in terms of revolutionizing soccer over here? Oh that's right, people still don't give a fuck.

There is no love for many MLB and NBA teams in some American cities? Remember the Seattle Sonics? No love there. Of course there won't be much love for the Expos, Jays, and Raptors. Have we ever had successful teams? Nope. The Expos were hurt by decades of poor managment, and so are the Jays post their two World Series victories. You only need to look at the 1993 Jays to see that we love them. You can go to a bar in Montreal and one mention of the Expos will make people say that they miss the team.

Look what happened with the Edmonton Oilers. It was because of tons of fan support that they managed to remain in Edmonton. In the CFL, the province of Saskatchewan (less than a million people) did the same thing to keep the Roughriders from folding.

You cannot blame the fans for economic problems and poor managment, which is what made the Jets, Nordiques, Expos, and Grizzlies move down south.

I was fairly unimpressed for most of the game. The US team got really sloppy towards the end of almost every period, I'm hopeful they get better next time around.

Speed skating is cursed. Who are the organizers? Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels? :hammer:

I'm happy for Petra Majdic that she managed to clinch a medal after her crash. As for the Russian skiers, I'm patiently awaiting the results of the drug tests. :angels:
