I feel bad for Carragher(first pen was great, second a poor one). Gerrard and Lampard were crap for most of the game. Hargreaves was immense as was A. Cole and Lennon when he came on. Ronaldo was a dancing queen fairy always falling over. I thought at first the Rooney sending off was correct, however after seeing the replay it was a bit harsh. The best team on the day won.

Scotland Kirin Cup champions 2006, they only trophy to return the the British Isles this year.

Portugal Portugal !!!! :D:D
Sad thing my two teams are gonna have a game against each other on the semi :( Ricardo is amazingly keeper, he was the Portugal's hero on te field today. Next time my love team will let Zidane retire, poor Zidane he tried to do it before and they extended thsi to the quarter. Zidane we'll let you go retire in peace ;) :D

To bad for England, I wished they had won. While watching the post-game commentary I heard one of the announcers say that Rooney ruined England's chances of winning by getting carded off.

It's good to be the king...
At Sven's final news conference, I hope he explains a few queries, like:

Why did he use Lennon so sparingly throughout this World Cup?
Why did he persist with Lampard and Gerrard (when everyone else knew it was an unworkable combination)?
Why on Earth did he bring Theo Walcott, instead of Dafoe and Bent?

Goodbye Sven-Goran Eriksson...I sincerely hope Steve McClaren has more luck.....

He used Lennon so sparingly because he thinks David (cross only) Beckham is both better than Lennon and also a great captain. IMO he's neither better or a great captain, in fact I think he's the worst England captain I've ever seen. The worst thing is too, he's the most capped captain ever, something like 60 games wearing the arm band.

It's not unworkable, it's just Sven is useless on how to play attacking players. He's shown this for 5 years, making worldclass players look bad and the team unbalanced. Gerrard and Lampard could be great together if you give them one simple instruction. When he goes forward you sit back and when he goes forward you sit back.

Why did he take Jenas too, he never went on the pitch, except to wonder round the players before extra-time today.

Right heres my view of this....

The reason England failed in the world cup is down to one person and one person only. Sven-Goran Eriksson, he didn't take 5 strikers, I don't blame him for taking both Rooney or Owen. I don't blame him for taking Walcott, as this could be good for his future growth into a quality player and also if he goes to the next world cup. But why take a midfielder who was never going to go onto the pitch in Jenas, could have took Dafoe instead and then he'd be there when we needed him.Plus I can't see why you need 3 goalkeepers, it's very rare you use more than one and never three.

Sven is the worst tactician I've seen, if his tatics in a match aren't working he still doesn't change them. If he does have too, it usually makes a match worse instead of better. I don't know why the hell all the top teams want him, he's one of the worst managers I've ever seen. In full he's the sole reason England didn't show up to the world cup. Thank god he's gone!

Oh and I thought I'd never say this, but Hargreaves was great today.

is you didnt deserve to win, accept it and move on.

All in all, it really is meaningless since next round they meet Brazil who will beat both teams.

You Might need to rethink that comment.

My Brazil didn't play for the fifth time and got out deserving that. :(
Im very sad! But I wanna congrats all frenchs, their team play a beautiful soccer, not Henry, but Zidane what is "Joga Bonito". Congrats France and congrats Zidane, you deserve to be the best player of this cup. :)

I didnt expect that, but my hope still with Portugal now. :)

Brazil still having the best players team and France tought them is better have a good team than a wonderful players not working in group as well.

STUNNER!

Brazil gone, 0-1 to France!

I was mildly shocked to see Brazil allow France to set pace instead of the other way around. Brazil did allow other teams to do whatever with the ball, but...not to play more uptempo...wow.

And I am sorry, but England played precisely the way they have been playing all tournament. Like Brazil, it haunted them against better competition than what was faced in qualifying. I dearly wanted to see England play to their reputation....but...that did not occur. Bad coaching ideas, and what was "Red Card Rooney" thinking? And Beckham hurt AGAIN in a HUGE game? *sighs*

However...what a semi-final coming up!

I want to post before all the England fans start to party here about how Portugal cheated, Ronaldo is an ass, they were robbed yada yada yada.

England sucked every game they played, they didnt have ONE FULL GAME in which they played well, they dont deserve anything in this cup and once again they disappointed. England sucked, you could blame Eriksson, even though he let Lampard and Gerrard a chance to do what they got and they didnt and he let Rooney played and he didnt do much either, blame him, blame the ref, blame the world, point is you didnt deserve to win, accept it and move on.

Yes that's right calm, Brazil will beat everyone.....oops, they lost to France. A substandard France at that. Oh well, get over it.

McClaren is a mini Sven. Be prepared for more of the same. I have said for the past 4 years England would never wina major championship with Sven in charge. Looks like I was proved correct.

Unfortunately England DID play to their reputation. That's why we lost on penalties.....again.

I'm so fucking gutted, words fail me, they really do.

I have this vision in my mind of Steve mcClaren standing on the touchline with a mini-me midget who looks like Sven:eek:

Most exciting league in the world (premiership) and the most boring national team (England)....that tells you something don't you think? Only positive today is Sven is gone, but with Mc Claren I can only see another Graham Taylor era.
We need someone like Hidink, Ferguson,if not at least Stuart Pearce.....to make it short someone with passion and inspire confidence to the team. Also players need to be reminded that Refs. will not be like in the premiership and hot headed players like Rooney,Beckham will be sent off for anything...fact!!! Its happened now it's happened before. I was imagening today while watching Zidane,if he was English he would be worth as much as Wembley. Yes I have to admit, our players are very overated, not once did I watch free flowing football in any of the games. 40 yarders out to the stands and not even capable of delivering a simple pass. Isnt it time FIFA begin to really focus on stamping play acting? and also, if they want fair play show yellow card to whoever asks you to show it.
Maybe I'll just stick to watching Champions league and premiership....miles better quality than a World Cup.
