I'm not happy with Ronaldo's attitude either (life is going to be....interesting for him, from now on when he returns to the UK), but in the end the England team knew what the refs were like in this World Cup (ask Bruce Arena & the USA). To me, Ronaldo's wink was "job done - Rooney's out."
Rooney needs to learn from this experience.

Yes I'm still pissed off at Ronaldo, but I also hope England's exit will ***** a serious re-examination of our team, management & set-up - if we really have a "Golden generation", how can we get the best out of them?

That is the same as Porugal with there golden generation. Well that is what the team in 2000, 2002 were known as in the game. 2004 was dubbed the last chance for Portugal's golden generation.

Now that is not a nice way talk about a plyer who was able to keep his cool and not bottle it when it came time for pens. He calmly strolled forward and stroked the ball into the goals. Where as Gerrard and Lampard bottled it and took crap pens. It should be them you English are angry at or perhaps the inept Sven but not C. Ronaldo.

And while jumbo_jim is probably right, Cristiano Ronaldo is becoming UK public enemy no. 1 for his actions.

Ronaldo has denied he tried to get Rooney dismissed.

"I only said to the referee that it was a foul, only that. I never asked for the red card," he said.

However Steven Gerrard was unhappy with the reaction of Rooney's Manchester United team-mate.
Gerrard has reportedly stated: "If it was one of my team-mates I'd be absolutely disgusted in him. I've seen Ronaldo going over giving the card and I think he's bang out of order. England sucked eveyr game, Portugal were way better throughout the tournament. Fact, don't argue.
Rooney stepped on a guy's nuts and then pushed a guy, both right in front of the ref. Fact, don't argue.
Players ask the ref to pull out tickets ALL THE FUCKING TIME. Fact, don't argue.
