you clearly never saw him play in the OHL did you? the kid scored 58 goals in 61 games with 197 points last year. he wasn't drafted #1 for nothing. 120 points in 3 seasons is an easily attainable number for him.

I've seen him and every prospect like him for the past 15 seasons. Have you? Because anyone who has knows that scoring 58 goals and 105 points, not 197 points, 105 points, in 61 games in the OHL doesn't mean much. The #1 pick means a lot more, but even that isn't that important. The kid's talented. All I said was wishful thinking. 120+ points is wishful thinking. How many total players score 120 points each season? These days, one, maybe two. Last year, no one scored 120, not even Ovechkin, do you really think Stamkos will be better than Ovechkin is now in the next three years? Crosby scored exactly 120 in his second season and he was a lot more hyped than Stamkos and for good reason. Crosby had 66 goals and 168 points in 62 games in the QMJHL the year before he was drafted. 120+ points within a player's first three seasons? Not going to happen. Longtime NHL observance and knowledge would tell you that. Be happy if he reaches 100, that would be something. Even 80 would be pretty amazing for a third year player. And, who knows, he may be one of the many many players who dominates in the minor leagues and then comes up and amounts to nothing in the NHL. It has happened so many times to so many players. So, once again, I will say, wishful thinking. "Easily attainable," man, you sound so delusional.

Takin' Flight: The RED WINGS Update:

--RW Dallas Drake has decided to hang up his skates after 15 seasons. "Physically, I'm done." he said. GM Ken Holland, disheartened by the news, plans a Geritol Party in August at the JLA. Fans are invited. Over 50 gets free admission.
--DRW brass is still negotiating with forward Valtteri Flippula over a long-term contract. Problem is he wants more money, better security and contract guarantees. Just like Darren McCarty and Aaron Downey. And if he doesn't get them, he's going to break his teeth with Downey's fists.
--Detroit picked goalie Thomas McCollum as the last pick in the first round from the OHL. They said they wanted depth at the position. Geesh...just ONE superstar retires and they go scrambling like mice on ice.
--Lastly, RW Dan Cleary snuck into the Red Wings front office and stole the Stanley Cup, threatening to take it to his native Newfoundland. Said coach Mike Babcock: "Go ahead and take it. We'll probably get another one this season."

The most important thing is he is going to make the Tampa Bay Lightning a much better team right away . Even if he scores 60 pts the team is going to be better because of him . With the players the Lightning have added on offense , I'm pretty sure he's going to have at least a 70 pts season like Patrick Kane had . And I think he is better than Kane so ... :2 cents:

for the 3rd time, i said total points in 3 years. i didn't say 120 points in one season.

Alright, 120 total points in three seasons I would agree with, but you can't blame me for thinking you meant 120 in one season. I mean, why would someone be excited by 120 points in three seasons from a #1 overall pick? That's only 40 points a season. I'd expect more out of a fairly well touted #1 overall pick. Sorry for the misunderstanding, but maybe you can see why I thought you meant something different.

He'll definitely help. Having the #1 pick always helps. I agree that he's better than Kane, but Kane had the advantage of being an unquestioned first liner right off the bat. Stamkos will probably start on the second line and probably won't play with Lecavalier or St. Louis much, at least not his first year. Still, he might be on a line with Vrbata and Malone or something like that, which isn't too bad.

Congratulations to Drake for winning the Cup after all those years and I hope he enjoys his retirement. Maybe we'll see him in broadcasting in the next couple of years.

He will play with Lecavalier and ST.Louis but only on the power play .

Also, Tampa has a lot more seasoned and experienced veterans then Chicago did when Kane started. Tampa will obviously go for St. Louis over Stamkos because he's a proven player (As well as one of the faces of the team). Kane got lucky, becuase he entered a completely average team that had no real stars/

That's exactly what I was saying.

Yeah, I know. I had a different point, but somehow it turned into what you were saying.

Anyway. Sundin. Sounds like he will be staying in Toronto. If he can't make his mind up in the NHL, he should go over to Russia.

They will go for ST.Louis also because he is a right winger and Stamkos is a center , he can't play with Lecavalier other than on the power play .

Well Ozzie got the to the show and a cup. Conklin will serve a very good back up. Jimmy Howard is still unproven and might need some time in the lower ranks. I agree 4 Goal keepers is allot, but they draft for a reason.

great quote on the last one! GO WINGS!
