Hello Sexy girl how your Toes doing?
At least Detroit is a city that loves their hockey enough to deserve the Cup, but did they have to sign Hossa, I mean, come on, let the rest of us at least have a chance. I smell repeat, unless something huge happens. The Red Wings are clearly just better than everyone else though.

lol, yeah it does look like a pretty good bet that detroit defends their championship next year!! c'mon you know the business! you were joking about detroit getting marian hossa? for 1year @ 7 + million, thats a steal considering he could have demanded a multi year deal worth several more millions, you actually think detroit wouldn't sign hossa, and say naw, we just won the cup, let anahiem, SJ, or dallas pick him up.. yeah right, sweet dreams, you make hossa a redwing.. do you think if hossa turned down the redwings offer to go play for edmonton for 1 year @ 7mill. kevin lowe would have passed on that.. no way.. so I think you were joking right?:hatsoff: take care..

It's not like Carolina or Tampa Bay, where they have to GIVE tickets away during the Finals, disgraceful. At least Detroit is a city that loves their hockey enough to deserve the Cup,

did you see how many empty seats there were at the Joe Louis Arena this year? in 2004, it was standing room only with a parking lot at the same capacity in the St. Pete Times Forum. You can't say that people in TB don't love hockey.

I really don't understand why some people keep thinking that hockey is not popular in Tampa . Ever since they won the cup in 2004 , the arena has always been full except of course for this season when the team started to play poorly .

exactly. during the 06-07 season, Tampa had the 3rd largest fan attendance with an average of 19,876 people per game

C'mon now no low blows, detroits economy is for shit right now, and the asking price for finals tickets was an arm, a leg, your house, or your car, people are literally losing everything, because of this recession and detroits mayor didn't help matters with all his scandalous issues, everything in detroit across the board is down.. trust me, our nick name isn't hockeytown for nothing we had a 900 + streak of soldout games @ joe louis arena, before the economy went to shit.. :dunno:

the previous 3 years the finals were in detroit, you couldn't get a ticket for less than a couple of thousand & it was standing room only.. but now nobody can afford to do shit except keep a roof over their heads, a car in the drive-way, and gas in the damn thing to go to work.. detroit is by far the biggest american market team for the NHL.. detroit is america's team.. just like the yankee's are in baseball.. :hatsoff:

I know you weren't attacking detroit, but I just wanted to let everybody know how shitty the economy is here right now, the big 3 auto-makers are closing and laying off workers like their is no tomorrow, and the mayor of detroit, totally disgusting, I just wanted everybody to know that detroit is hockeytown without a doubt, I don't think any american franchise can say they had 900 + soldout games for any sport in their city, but JLA was soldout I think the exact # was 968 straight games, I think thats a record I don't know if any sports franchise has ever broken or will ever break??

I was so excited that the redwings were gonna win the cup again.. when you said how many empties @ JLA you were refering to the regular season right? cuz during the finals they reported all sellouts, you weren't refering to the finals were you?? thats why I intially replied to your post, when you said this year, in the finals? or just the regular season? cuz everything in detroit business wise is down right now.. its so sad, disgusting, and unfortunate.. I know TB love their hockey.. but detroit will always be hockeytown USA.. take care... :glugglug: :hatsoff:

It was 396 straight regular season sellouts, 452 including the playoffs, from 1996-2007, according to my research. Still pretty impressive! :2 cents:

I know hockey. I grew up in Edmonton, Alberta. Do you have any idea how many NHLers are from Edmonton? The Niedermayers, Messier, Ray Whitney was a stickboy for the Oilers when he was a kid. I have never heard of one single NHL player hailing from Tampa Bay. Edmontonians live and breath hockey, my friend. As an Edmontonian I reserve the right to claim that people in Tampa Bay don't LOVE hockey. I'm sure you have some diehard fans, but what I said about tickets being given away in Tampa during the Cup Final is a fact, that happened. Tickets for Oilers games during the Cup Final in 05 were being bought on E-bay for thousands of dollars by Edmontonians. Over 40,000people showed up for the Oilers parade in Edmonton after they LOST the Stanley Cup Final, not even a tenth of that number showed up in TB after they WON it. It wasn't even on the front page of the paper, the majority of the people there didn't even know they had won the Cup. And as for Detroit, they're an original six, and clearly they live up to their name as Hockeytown, USA. They are true fans, what empty seats are you talking about, regular season games against the Kings, sure, maybe, but they sold out faster than any other American team could for the Finals. If you're a hockey fan and you love the Lightning, good for you, but don't even try to compare your team's fans to that of the Red Wings, and certainly not the Oilers.

Yes, it was a joke. They actually offered him a multi-year contract apparently, but he turned it down. I was just trying to state how obviously superior Detroit's team is right now to the rest of the NHL.

Tampa has it's hardcore faithful fans and they do rival the fans of Detroit and Edmonton. there's no denying it.

The above poster certainly knows his hockey, and even he knows Detroit is ORIGINAL SIX and lives and breaths hockey, we are an all around sports city we love our redwings, we love our tigers, we support our lions (I have no idea why), and we love our pistons.. :hatsoff:

I know I was just razzing ya.. they used to say detroit bought their championships cuz of the free-agent aquistions and the trades etc.. when their was no salary cap, now with the salary cap and NO 1ST ROUND DRAFT PICKS since the mid 1990's when detroit selected MARTIN LAPOINTE has their been a 1st round draft pick, detroit breeds, talent no matter what round we get them @.. the whole team that won the cup last year is a testament to that.. and I know you were joking, but its fun not giving anybody else a chance when we started from nothing and consistently remain @ the top..

when detroits redwings, and pistons won their respective championships 1 MILLION + in attendance for each CHAMPIONSHIP PARADE.. now I am not saying TB doesn't have its HARDCORE fans, but you didn't have a million + fans @ your championship parade, and I am sorry theirs no way TB loves hockey like Detroit or edmonton, TB fans pale in comparison to Detroit or edmonton in the # of fans, fan spirit, alliance, support, everything.. its not even a contest to suggest TB rivals Dtroit or edmonton in any capacity regarding hockey and our fans strength or commitment..

I'm sure you have some hardcore fans, and hopefully you're one of them, but don't be delusional. Have you ever been to Edmonton? I was there for their entire playoff run, and I am not exagerrating when I tell you that Mardi Gras seems like a Star Trek convention in comparison with the partying and fan support there is in Edmonton. There were DAILY parades of fire trucks and cars stretching out for miles driving through the city screaming and honking their support, on Whyte Avenue, which is the main bar district in Edmonton, the streets were PACKED with people on game days, there wasn't enough room to move. After wins the partying was so intense that EVERY single police officer in the city had to go to Whyte Ave to TRY to restrain the crowd, but to no avail because the fans were way too intense. After we clawed back in the Cup Finals and won Game Six at home in Edmonton, the entire city was chanting in unison at the top of their lungs: "WE WANT THE CUP!!!" No one in Tampa Bay could ever understand or have experienced the intensity of hockey fandom in Edmonton. The Oilers are everything in Edmonton. You'd have to go to a European or South American soccer game to find fans like that. Or a Montreal hockey game, they deserve their due credit. It's a Canadian thing, man. You could never understand, sorry. And it wasn't front page news, it was on the front page of the sports section, but not the front page of the newspaper. And the city as a whole didn't care. The players even said it.

Thank you, I do know my hockey. Of course I know who the OG6 were, Chicago, Boston, Detroit, New York(Rangers), Toronto, and Montreal. I agree that the Wings have drafted by far the best for the past two decades. They must have an unbelievable European scout considering all the amazing Euros they've drafted through the years, Federov, Kozlov, Lidstrom, Holmstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, unreal.

the canucks are to good to for matts sundin, hes old and washed up

32 goals and 78 points in 74 games last season, yah, washed up alright. If I'm not mistaken that would have made him the Canucks best goal scorer and points scorer last season. So the Canucks are too good for Sundin, more like Sundin's 1300+ career points are too good for the Canucks. Hopefully he signs in Montreal.
