32 goals and 78 points in 74 games last season, yah, washed up alright. If I'm not mistaken that would have made him the Canucks best goal scorer and points scorer last season. So the Canucks are too good for Sundin, more like Sundin's 1300+ career points are too good for the Canucks. Hopefully he signs in Montreal.

I think Sundin should do what he really wants the most : end is carreer as a Toronto Maple leaf .

I'm all for it, but I know he's just like any other hockey player and he desperately wants to win a Stanley Cup before he retires and the Leafs haven't won it for 40 years now and haven't made the playoffs since 2004. I'm sure Ray Bourque wanted to retire as a Bruin, but he had to join the Avalanche in order to win the Cup and thank goodness he did because it was the perfect way for him to end his career. Plus, Sundin already holds the scoring record for the Leafs and he wasn't there for his WHOLE career, he started with the Nordiques, so there's really nothing for him to stay in Toronto for.

I think you are right about him wanting to win a stanley cup and it's pretty obvious he won't win one in Toronto but I also think even though he would have a slightly better chance of winning in Vancouver or montreal , he still wouldn't win if he goes to one of those teams . So I'm thinking why don't he stay in Toronto . By the way , I know Mats didn't play his whole carreer in Toronto , I'm from Quebec city . ;)

I definitely agree he doesn't have much of a shot of winning anything in Vancouver, but Montreal was #1 in the Eastern Conference last season and they have a lot of talent, including a bunch of good youngsters like Plekanec, the Kostitsyn brothers, Latendresse, Higgins, and, of course, Carey Price. They added Alex Tanguay and they still have Kovalev, Markov, and Koivu. They're in pretty good shape right now, and if they added Sundin, they'd be pretty scary. They already had by far the best power-play in the league last year and Sundin will make it that much more formidable. I hope he signs there.

the next Winter Classic will take place on January 1st, 2009 and will pit the Detroit Red Wings against the Chicago Blackhawks at legendary Wrigley Field.

Yah, I heard. Sounds like a great idea to me. I was there at the Heritage Classic in Edmonton for the Oilers and Canadiens outdoor game. The old-timers game with Gretzky and Messier and Fuhr was so cool. It was so cold though, I had three pairs of long johns, pants, many layers of sweaters, gloves, hats, scarves, and I was shivering my ass off. Still totally worth it though.

All that talent and they got eliminated in 5 games in round 2 by the powerhouse that is the Philadelphie Flyers . I agree they have a good team but people seem to forget that they got great performances by young players no one expected to perform like that ( Andrei Kostitsyn and his brother ) players that are going to have a ton of pressure to do better or at least keep it the same . Also , Carey price is a very talented goaltender , but he also is a very young goaltender lacking experience and it showed in the playoffs when he struggled against the Bruins and Flyers . Price never played a complete season as the #1 in the NHL he had Huet to help him during the last season . So montreal are going to have a young tandem of talented goalies that can be very good but also can struggle at times . They didn't have any serious injury to a key player last year and that was a big factor in the good season they had . They can't be that lucky 2 years in a row , all teams get at least one injured key player a year even if it's not the biggest injury . Anyway I guess we'll have to see but I really think Montreal are over hyped , they have a good team but not a stanley cup contender team . The Red Wings are too strong anyway :2 cents:

I agree that the Red Wings are too strong, but Montreal is obviously a Cup contender. Price is 20 years old, he got some good experience last year and finished the year with a .920 save percentage, and Halak and Marc Denis are his backups, that's a pretty good goaltending situation. I agree that Price struggled at times in the playoffs, but he was 20 years old and he also looked incredible at times, and everyone knows how talented he is. The Flyers have loads of talent too, and no one's saying Montreal is unbeatable, Philadelphia beating them was no shocker. The Flyers had lots of injury trouble last season and may have finished stronger had they not. Anyway, the future looks bright for both those teams, loads of young talent. You could totally be right though about the injuries. If Kovalev gets lost for the year or something they would be in bad shape then. But that's true for most teams. It always takes luck, but Montreal has the talent to mirror last year's performance, and with the addition of Tanguay and possibly Sundin they could improve upon it.

Halak will be a great backup, but in case you don't know, Denis couldn't stop a puck if you threw it at him. i say this being a TB fan having watched him blow countless victories for us over the past couple years.

Here's hoping the Canadiens can win the cup in their 100th year. That would be a celebration.

Hell, I want a Canadian team to win, period (Though not Calgary). Go Canucks!

Chicago is looking really good this year, I think they could make it into the playoffs finally. They won't go far, but it will do wonders for the team.

He had some decent years with the Blue Jackets and he's an experienced goaltender, and he is the #3 in Montreal. Theodore couldn't stop jack a couple of years ago either and he just came off a great season with Colorado. Granted, Theodore has a lot more natural talent than Denis, but Denis probably won't be needed much anyway, and again, he's the #3, better than most teams can say.

Hell yeah! The Cup always belongs in Canada, 15 years is way too long a drought, but hopefully it'll be the Oilers, but any Canadian team will do. The Blackhawks may make it. Adding Huet should really help them out. The young talent on that team is unbelievable with Kane, Sharp, and Toews. Things are looking up for the team with the longest Cup drought in the NHL. Good thing Chicago had the Bulls because they have endured some seriously horrible streaks of failure.
