Correctamundo that's exactly what I am saying, Detroit has played 18 games, Chicago has played 17, Detroit has 30 games left, Chicago has 31, that's allot of fuckin hockey left to be played, not saying Detroit is gonna come up and contend with Chicago for the Division lead, atleast not yet, but despite Chicago's amazing start, and Detroit's lack luster start, Chicago is only 12 points ahead of Detroit, that's not allot considering there are so many games left, that and there are allot of other teams with pretty impressive starts, it would be naive of me to pick a cup winner @ this juncture of the season thus far, but, I am playing devils advocate and saying Chicago won't win the Stanley Cup!! who will? :dunno: yet. LA is still the team to beat, the Ducks look great, the Nucks are playing well, then we've got to see what kind of the threat the EASTERN conference will pose, to whatever Western Conference team makes it too the finals. :2 cents:
On another note, did anybody see or hear the proposed divisional / conference alignment they've proposed? both Detroit and Columbus would be in the EAST and Detroit would be in a conference that featured, Montreal, Boston, Ottawa, Toronto, Florida, and I think Tampa, anyway there were 8 teams in 2 Eastern Conference divisions and there would be a Wild Card playoff berth in effect for the EAST only, because both of the Western Conference Divisions would only have 7 teams each, while the 2 EASTERN Conference Divisions each would have 8 teams apiece. I am sure the alignment arrangements are listed somewhere with all the precise and accurate details that would be in place. very interesting to say the least. :yesyes:

a lot, you know what I am saying "plenty" a "plethora" of games left to played, despite Chicago amazing start, they are only 12 points ahead of my Red Wings who have played lack luster @ times, while looking pretty impressive in some of there games thus far.
I am simply saying 6 games to make up with 30 games remaining is not impossible, Chicago cannot keep up this pace, and Detroit has so many injuries throughout there lineup that's just not wise to count out Detroit just yet, they haven't had a full arsenal since the start of the season, Detroit is my angle, but there are plenty of other teams that will challenge Chicago for the Western Conference throne if will, anything else you need me too decipher for you?

Any thoughts on the proposed realignment? I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. The proposed Atlantic division has more mainstay playoff teams than it can possibly have under the new system, so it looks like New Jersey/Philadelphia/Washington are going to be seeing a lot less playoff action in the future.
Honestly, why the fuck don't they just put nashville in the southeast and colorado in the central and call it good? I'm all for seeing Detroit 6 times a year, but I don't get why they have to shake up the whole damn system just because one team moved.
it does look like realignment could slant the playoffs toward one conference over another.if the top three teams in each conference make the playoffs then two wild cards are available to each division/side then one conference could have five teams in the playoffs.you would think that would cause friction for owners in the conference with just three representatives.i think everything is still in the proposed phase but it will take some getting used to the changes.

The only reason they need realignment in the first place is Winnipeg. Detroit and Columbus wanting to move to the East, Dallas wanting to be in the Central Division, etc... that's all gravy. Without Winnipeg, this would never be on the table.

The thing is Detroit and Columbus both play in the west and they should be in the East, and Winnipeg who is definitely a West team is currently in the East because they moved from Atlanta. there worried about some of the weaker, franchises that are not making any profit or very little will end up moving to all the proposed cities that want an NHL franchise.
The reason they have a wild card set up for the East is each Eastern Conference would have 8 teams X 2 that's 16 teams in the East opposed too 2 (7) team conferences in the West, the teams in the west would have a 53% chance of making the Playoffs, the teams in the East would have a 50% chance of making the Playoffs, so to make it fair the board of governors have proposed the East only would have a Wild Card system, I think it will pass. :2 cents:
Detroit would then again have most of its original 6 rivalry teams more than 1 or twice a year and Columbus moves too the eastern time zone as well which they've been lobbying for, Winnipeg is placed in the West where they belong. Phoenix is proposed to be moving too Seattle, and one of the East teams (I don't recall which one) maybe moving and Quebec and Fairfax or some other Canadian city is lobbying for a team.

Columbus will never make the playoffs if this realignment goes through. Quite frankly, I think this realignment will kill the franchise. Also, there isn't a city in Canada called Fairfax.

I think the other city in Canada is then Halifax. :dunno: I know one of the lesser known cities in Canada wants a team, but I can't recall which city it is, that why I wrote. FF. lol.- Status
