2017/2018 NCAA Football Thread

10 days after I make the comment that Oklahoma has a knack for finding a way to lose one, here comes Iowa State? _

LOL....yeah. Especially on defense, right? Gotta give credit where it's due I would say.

Miami can't do anything on offense at all. Looks like somebody forgot to tell FSU they suck this year.

2½ quarters and someone finally found the end zone!

I congratulate Miami for their victory.

Jimbo really doesn't have any excuses in 2018. Our starter and backup QBs will have atleast one season experience. Fisher is just a to conserative coach expect for 2013 and 2014 seasons. We had to get more than 3 points in the first half.

Clemson

After Miami scored that first touchdown, I had to leave. I got back to find Miami behind with seconds to play, and then makes a miracle touchdown. That one will be talked about for years.

And, another upset: Michigan plays like shit in the first half, and a rainy-slopfest in the second half gives the Wolverines a loss.

The top 10 will look interesting when the poll comes out tomorrow.

I didn't really get to watch the Oregon game, but it certainly didn't turn out like I thought. Before the game, the announcers were joking that the first one to score 50 would be the winner, and both of them combined couldn't muster 50.

Looking ahead, WSU could go undefeated thru November 18, and so could Washington. Personally, I think one or both will take a loss, but if both are undefeated after the 18th, that November 25th match-up will be huge.

I expect the Ducks to lose

Expectation fulfilled.

How about Western Michigan vs Buffalo. SEVEN overtimes LOL Final score, 71-68 Western Michigan.

Pretty good betting day for me but only because Western Kentucky BARELY held off arguably the worst team in the nation in UTEP. UTEP is so bad they got buried by the hapless Rice Owls last week.

I was privileged to participate in the Heroes pregame ceremonies at the Silver Bowl earlier tonight. UNLV students and current service members unfurled a 100 yard long American flag while a UNLV graduate and current soldier sang The Star Spangled Banner. Police, firefighters, first responders, doctors and volunteers escorted a player or coach from each team to the sidelines as 58 white balloons were released. It was all very nice. I spoke with the free safety from SDSU as I escorted him into the stadium. He had a manly beard and I told him I played safety at Iowa a million years ago. We had a good laugh and I told him to light 'em up.

I had no dog in the fight so I just enjoyed the game and the free sammiches provided by Capriotti's. The Bobbie is my shiznit. Thanksgiving dinner on a roll.

UNLV was hanging tough through the first half but SDSU's depth and talent really was apparent in the 41-10 blowout.

At least my Hawkeyes had a signature win today.

:hatsoff: Ace.

Conner - Auburn or LSU? I'm thinking your guys should get the win, and probably cover too. Your thoughts?

At the start of the season and especially after Clemson, this game worried me, but with LSU losing to Troy and Malzahn making some offensive adjustments, yes, Auburn should win. As for the point spread, 6.5 seems easy enough to cover..

Yeah Auburn's offense seems to have found the key in the passing game now so they are going to be tough going forward. They have made a lot of big plays for huge gains this year. I think they'll beat and cover against LSU as well.

I hope the Canes don't suffer a letdown after that thrilling win in Tallahassee last week. Georgia Tech is not a pushover and Miami has 3 starters out so this might be a trap game for them. Sure hope not.

Texas can get over the hump by taking out the Sooners and OU can get back on track after being solidly whipped by ISU. Something's gotta give, hope it ain't the Horns.

Texas & Oklahoma should be huge! Herman wants a signature win and Oklahoma wants payback after that monumentally embarrassing loss to Iowa State!

Friday the 13th. What a day.

All day, non-stop shit problems at work.

Clemson loses to woeful Syracuse.

Washington State has 3 turnovers in the first half - A horrible punt with little time before half - Cal takes a 14 point lead AND they get the ball back to start the 3rd. May be another upset coming. 2nd half to come...

Honestly, I didn't see WSU winning out. I even thought Cal had a good shot to win this one, but to win it like that, no way. The real shock is that WSU could only score 3!

One of these days, Leach is gonna have to wake up and hire a competent defensive coordinator. You can't field a team with the mentality that you don't need a defense as long as you can score more than your opponent.

The weekend of upsets continue. Auburn had complete control of LSU and Malzahn has a mental meltdown and throws too many deep balls. 80% of their passes in the second half were over 25 yards. Fucking stupid.

Still, that punt return for touchdown was a non-call. Two blocks in the back and refs miss both. Even the commentators said something.

Well, let's see if Miami can come back.

Miami was lucky as hell to win that game. Richt's moronic idea to start the second half with an onside kick blew up in his face and could have spelled doom. I love the Canes but I honestly don't see how they can keep hoping for miracle comebacks every week and remain in the playoff hunt.

Texas put up a valiant effort but fell short against OU. I gotta say that Ehlinger is the real deal at QB for the Horns even though he is extremely raw. They need to get more offensive talent around him (and they will) before they can be a contender but I like the direction we are headed.

Auburn's pratfall against LSU is the reason I don't bet on college football. Sorry Bodie.
