Does it annoy anyone else that College coaches and the media refer to their players as "kids" in press conferences, interviews, etc.? "Our kids really played hard today." What the fuck? Is this pop warner or Div1?

Does anyone think Tim Tebow (for example) is a kid anymore?

From what I have seen through my many years universities have a tendency to talk about their students as adult that make their own decision when it suits them best and as kids that need to be told what to do, again, when it suits the university best at that moment.

Gators will fuck up one game but still win the championship.
it's what we do.

Tebow will end up with 2 Heismans and 3 rings.

i remember a guy in miami....had thoughts kinda like that in 92.....he said the whole second half was a blurr........bama beat him downnnnn.....lets dont count or chickens before they hatch...remember...bama had florida sweating bullets in the 3rd qtr...last year....just saying....dont count bama out we start thinking football here in march........rolllllllllll tideeeee rolllllllll

You mean, that same team that got their asses kicked by Utah??!!! :1orglaugh

Oklahoma State is anything but a sleeper. I say they are this year's Texas Tech.

They will be hovering around the top 5 most of the year and here's why....their first 4 games are all at home and they go against Georgia (great program but Matt Stafford is gone....win for Cowboys), Houston (Case Keenum is an awesome QB and Houston will put up a helluva fight, but OSU should prevail), Rice (see "Georgia" above.....spunky team but Chase Clement is gone. OSU wins) and Grambling. They will very likely be 4-0 heading into conference play.

Note to BI: I gave you bad info on the Longhorns camp. Voluntary workouts started July 31. The team officially reported yesterday.

My bad....

They should roll through the conference until they run up against Texas and Oklahoma. Those will be monster games for all teams. They have a decent chance of winner the Big 12 in my opinion.

OSU is a legitimate power that is definitely on my radar screen!!!

You want a Big 12 sleeper.....how about Baylor?

All the talk I hear in Ohio and nationally is Oklahoma or Texas? It kinda seems like Okie St is being over looked. If they are picked to finish third, but end up winning the Big 12 I would consider it an upset.

Buckeye camp opened yesterday.

I'm afraid that they will be overlooking Navy.

I heard Terrell Pryor ran like a 4.33 forty:bowdown:, which makes him the fastest on the team. I expect a huge break-out year for him.

However, there are big question marks at the receiver positions for the Buckeyes.

On another note, I was talking to some Michigan fans last night at the bar. I asked them about the Wolverine schedule and wondered whether they finally got that Toledo team off their schedule.

(For those who don’t remember, a crappy Toledo team, who finished tied for last in the West Division of the MAC, punked the Wolverines last year 13-10 in the Big House.)

I'm sure they are all trying to forget that :1orglaugh

Not really overlooked but I think the tendency is to think they will somehow come up short against UT and OU. We'll see. Gundy has been nothing short of amazing despite his periodic meltdowns. They may not win the conference, but they'll be in the hunt late either way would be my prediction.

I agree....a pretty significant upset if they edge out Texas and Oklahoma to win the South. By the same token, no one is asleep at the wheel on them by any means.

The SEC may be the best conference overall, but I'd make a serious argument that the Big 12 South is the best division within a conference.....for whatever that's worth.

:1orglaugh

Let the games begin!

well USC lost a lot of players last season but they did not miss a beat with the incoming freshmen that is one of the teams I want to see play with all their new talent:thumbsup:

Michigan dropping the home opener seems to be a new tradition

Pete Carroll has done a magnificent job of recruiting talent.

The word is freshman QB Matt Barkley might be the starter for the Trojans.

Sanchez hurt his knee and missed a big chunk of football camp last year. He still came back in time and lit up Virginia in last year's opener, on the road too.

Unless Corp's injury is worse than I think it is, he's still #1. Barkley sounds like the real deal, but I think USC has mastered "player hype" at this point....:1orglaugh

Let's see the goods on the field first.
