he is a good player, but like the commentators said after his attempted penalty...

"the little boy who cried wolf" spends too much time diving about on the floor.

Henry was actually better than Ronaldo in my opinion.

Someone sort this buffon out. Yes Ronaldo was a cnut but it wasn't him that got Rooney sent off, it was Rooney's stamp on Carvahlo's nuts.

If players like headless chicken Gerrard, Can't shoot straight Lampard and slow as a float Beckham performed anywhere near as good as Ronaldo had we may still be in the tournament.

AUSTRALIA WAS CHEATED OUT!! (BY ITALY - DIVING BASTARDS) THEY DESERVE TO LOSE SO BADLY!!!! the most bullshit penalty call i've ever seen when the bloke was lying on the ground out of play before he tripped over him, made me so aaangry, then again, france has played brilliantly, i think they deserve it... except for that last game, henry made a dive.

diving has ruined the game.,..

France have been crap apart from against Brazil. France Vs Switzerland is the worst game I have ever watched in my life.
Australia may have been done by a dodgy decision against Italy but Japan had 2 stonewallers turned down against Australia. 1 penalty mistake per team per game is forgivable, 2 isn't.

Sonny shut up. You have had your chance to complain, you took it. Now get over it and accept he eliminated you. Your complaining has gotten old and boring. Don't worry you will get to select another scapegoat in 2 year's time.

Concerning the finals: I think the French will take it. Offense wins the game, the defense wins the championship. Nobody beats Vieira and Thuram, even not Cannavaro.
Hopefully Inzaghi, the old frog, will stay on the bench.

I agree with a little correction. It's not a ideological match against defence and offensive teams, but a fight Team x Player. That teams are on final worked better as a skillfull team, when the others works better as a individual skillfull. See Brazil, nobody can disagree that Brazil has the major number of brilliant players and he got out pretty earlier. Btw, today's France works very poorly on individual skills, but as a team was good enough to make the final. I saw the game against Portugal, if you freeze the image anytime France is getting a Portugal's counterstrike you can see clearly, two lines of four player perfectly aligned. That show they didnt make nothing brilliant, but they follow the ABC they trained everyday. France and Italy isn't the better team in defense, probably Switerzland is, got out without taking one single goal in the regular and extra times, but still missing works like a hole and complete team (Where the offensive?).

Well, Pele's Brazil worked 'cause wasn't "Pele's Team", it was "Seleção Canarinho". Well Pele is well known as the best player of all time and him didn't do all the job, why 36 years later gonna be diferent?

That difference for today's Cup is: I never saw a Cup with so many star players and no one star team. Brazil was a team with a lot of star player, not a star team.

My opinion, agreeing with daschok, a player can score goals and beat weak teams with that, a great team can win a cup.

P.S.: I can put Portugal on the same size of France, they didn't got out fairly. I dont like their formation 4-4-1-1 (isn't 4-4-2 as the most think, Ronaldo isn't full offensive, he is the connection between middle field and Pauleta, you can see he changing the side of play in the middle of the game). I agree about Portugal's team could play more and fall less, but I wont judge them. Since 1914, that's the second time Portugal got there, on the semi-final, experience should have some value there, dont you think? ;)

The ref for the final has been selected and it is the Argentinian referee who has got it. Yes the very same man who sent off Wayne Rooney. He obvisously got that decision correct because after the amount of press that 1 decision recieved why would FIFA give him the biggest game in the world.

I think we can do it against Italia, Zidane will give everything to its last match

I'm not gonna say that france cannot win .. but remember.

Italian Defence is still undefeated (they had to score themselves to actually make a ball pass beyond Buffon)

And Italy has Filippo Inzaghi who is at the same level with zidane and is not fatigued at all (only 45')

This Year Italy is by far the best team. It's not like the best team always wins the world cup, but for sure Italy is now favorite.

Almost the best team by far is a draw against USA, a penalty wich didnt happen against Australia. Sorry serpencross, Im not trying to fight with you, just disagreeing... ;)

I think I can say that's the only cup there's no team by far better than any other, look the scores. Look how many 0x0 and decided on PS, about the quarters, the Ukraine, that team yes, was together with Swirterzland by far the worst team on the 2nd round.

The best 2 teams in the tournament were Germany and Argentina. Out of France and Italy, Italy have been better.

Is that so? let's review, shall we.

Ivory Coast completly dominated the game in the second half when they played Argentina in round 1.
Argentina 6-0'd a small weak team.
Holland and Argentina had a boring 0-0 game.
Argentina barely beat Mexico 2-1.
Argentina lost to Germany.

I thought Argentina played well.

Serbia week - would this be the same Serbia who won there qualifying group which contained Spain, the same Serbia who only let in 1 goal during qualifying. So to score 6 in 1 game against them is a big achievment.

Yeah, the same Serbia who finished with 0 points in their group.

I wrote the following in another (non-porn) forum about England:

Many people are critiscizing Sven-Göran Eriksson and he deserves criticism. But a few of our so-called "star players" also failed to live up to the hype, and we need to realise that our supposedly best players do not automatically make the best team.
Don't get me wrong, I think we have the basis of a decent team - but we also need to say goodbye (and good riddance) to the *********, WAG photo-shoot era. The team needs to focus on the real job.

Next: Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo. Regardless whether Rooney's stamp on Ricardo Carvalho was by accident or design, his temperment makes him a liability. If Rooney doesn't realise that defenders will continue to provoke him each time he steps on a football field, then for all his talents he's a fool. As for Ronaldo - yes, I thought his actions towards Rooney were shameful. But judging by some OTT comments in the press, I half-expect him to sprout horns and shout a sinister "Nya ha ha!"
Obviously some fans will blame either Rooney or Ronaldo (or both of them) for England's exit from the competition and you can be sure the media will continue to provoke the situation between both players, as it sells newspapers. It's easy to create a **** figure (just ask retired Swiss referee Urs Meier), since it diverts debate on the real problem that some of our "superstars" aren't really that super.

Finally, we need to get away from the mentality that England are good enough to win everything in sight. We are not world beaters. We don't have a divine right to win the World Cup and/or the European Football Championship.
Let's be blunt - since 1966, England have only reached two semi finals (1990 & 1996) and no finals. We are not a footballing superpower and haven't been for 40 years, so we should get realistic when judging our chances of winning a major football tournament.

Some sense at last. However everyone knows Ronaldo made you write that while holding a *** to your head as he is evil.

He's not my favourite footballer at the moment - but C. Ronaldo is just a convenient scapegoat.
Already I've seen on TV and in the press talk about the England team for 2010...WTF?

Before everyone in England start putting on rose-tinted spectacles for 2010, we need to address the issues in 2006.
