One really awful one was Doomsday but it had Rhona Mitra in it and was the only reason I went to see it. Of course it deals with the "infected" so I guess it doesn't really count. :thefinger

I would say 28 Days Later, I Am Legend (another "infected" flick), and Shaun of the Dead.

FWIW, wikipedia lists both 28 Days and I Am Legend as "zombie" flicks

Err.. you might be thinking of the original "Dawn of the Dead" with the consumerism. There was nothing consumerish in the original "Day"- just lots of folks overacting and yelling at one another, and some downright awesome gore. :D

My favorite is tough to pick- but I think it's "other", for Tom Savini's remake of Night of the Living Dead, made in 1990. Nice remake- pretty faithful to Romero's, with just enough surprises thrown in to make it interesting.

Nice pick. I actually prefer the remake of Night of the Living Dead to the original as well and wanted to add it to the poll, but I could only add 10 choices and thought the original was probably more popular.

I voted for 28 days later, simply because it brought the whole genre back into the spotlight. Plus finding out that your worst enemies aren't the undead after all still works for me as one of the most effective, darkest and most cynical 3rd acts I've ever seen at the movies. Loved it!

By the way, I never thought I'd ever read a Zombie Book, but Max Brooks' "World War Z" is really entertaining, well written and researched, not funny at all (even though they sell it in the Humor section) and one of the best reads I've had this year. Do yourself a favor and order it, you'll be surprised (like I was) at how intelligent horror fiction can be if it's well done.

A hot girl that likes zombie movies!?!? Will you marry me? :iloveyou: lol.

Oh yeah, thanks everybody for the defense about 28 Days Later, I would have defended myself but I see you've already taken care of it lol.

Well, yeah- you can't take anything away from Romero's original. I love the tone of it, which is decidedly different from Savini's remake, and the fact that it has that old, creepy horror flick feel to it in black-and-white. Even though most movies were being shot in color by 1968, the original flick was so much more effective, I think, in black n white than it would have been in color.

Savini's remake was the first zombie flick to make use of gelatin prosthetics for most of the zombie effects, and man do those zombies look great!

I'm actually a bit burnt out on zombie flicks of late, as there were a glut of them for a while, including the awful "Dawn" remake, and the equally awful "Land of the Dead".

Prince of the Rotten Milk
Dawn of the dead(original) although the remake was very well done and I do enjoy watching it for Sarah Polly alone.
