I have to admit that I'm reeeeally tired of the whole zombie genre.I would say that it's a neck and neck race between zombie and vampire movies that are the most overused sub catagories in the the horror genre.

That being said, even though it's technically not a zombie movie,I would go with 28 Weeks Later.

what the fuck you lookin at?
I don't really get into the zombie thing. But I liked the Resident Evil movies. Maybe because that was the only good video game - movie adaptation?

The first one was good,#2 had some good things and some bad,and #3 just flat out sucked ass.

I have scene all of those and I love Zombie movies...one of my favorite genres...but if i had to pick one...it would have to be day of the dead the original...just way consumerism was symbolized in that movie was brilliant... And if we had to go on hottest chick in a Zombie movie...who else but Milla Jovovich...i thinks shes HOT!....

I was referring to the first one. Just like 99% of movies, sequels always get progressively worse.

I DID like it. I don't know, it was different. Like I said, all the zombie flicks I had seen before that were full of stupid, slow, retarded zombies. I really like how in 28 Days they flew at ya......made you think that if that really happened, it would be a hell of a lot harder to survive. I'd say original zombie movies would be like being attacked by a poodle......28 Days would be like being attacked by a pack of German Shepards.

Why did you not like it?

Oh, God no...I hated that movie. Zombies are "supposed" to be slow. Movies that have these fast moving, running zombies are just trying to reinvent the wheel and, IMO, it doesn't work. 28 Days Later and the Dawn of the Dead remake are perfect examples of that.

To be honest though, I might be a little biased. When I was in college, we had to do a study of horror movies in one of my English Lit classes (best class ever, BTW - All we did was watch movies). I chose to write about zombies and the symbolism that was involved. Long story short, zombies are slow moving and persistant because they are an extension of human sexuality...I'd explain more, but I don't want to write 275 paragraphs right now. :crash:

So, basically...I like zombies; the original zombies.

As for the speed don't forget about I am Legend.

An extension of human sexuality? Seriously, wtf were you smoking in college? They just have a never ending hunger for flesh. If your hungry, you can be pretty damn persistent as well! Your whole paper would have been a paragraph and you would have aced the class!

I agree with Chefchitown...I love the old school original zombies....they are supposed to have rigor mortise....causing them to be slow....not like in the 2004 remake of dawn of the day they are running down the streets....i

If you've read the book (I Am Legend), you'll see that those weren't zombies. They were the evolution of the human race.

Yup, human sexuality. Zombies are a representation of human sexuality and how it consumes society. Just a few key points...

- Zombies lust after human flesh. This is pretty obvious symbolism for sexual desire.

- Zombies are very slow moving, sloth-like creatures. Even though they are very slow and dim-witted, they continuously move forward until they get what they desire. This is another example of symbolism for sexual desire and the "hunt" for a sexual partner.

- Zombies don't even really know "why" they lust after human flesh. They are programmed to just do it, even though they don't understand anything. This is supposed to represent the human desire to mate. We don't really know "why" we want to have sex...we just do.

- (MY FAVORITE) Once you are wounded and/or bitten by a zombie, you will become a zombie yourself. The zombies DNA will enter your bloodstream and slowly, but surely, turn you into a lusting shell of a person. This symoblizes a human losing their virginity. Once you have a taste of the flesh (aka - SEX), you will want it again and again and again. Your body, once it has had a taste of lust, will forever beg you for more. It consumes every aspect of your life and you don't even realize it. The lust for flesh (sex) is always on your mind and controlling everything you do, even though it is completely in your subconscience.

I would recommend finding a book about it, because the symbolism is actually pretty cool. At least, IMO, it is. :dunno:

Well to get technical, there were no "zombies in 28 Days Later nor 28 Weeks Later,so anyone complaining about fast moving zombies in those movies need not worry because there weren't any.

I personally like the fast movie zombie. What's more terrifying than animated dead people that are constantly trying to eat you,and moving at a break neck speed to boot?

Slow zombies are just dumb and really pose no threat unless you are really careless.

Never read the book. Your last point is the best for your symbolism to sex thing. The other points could be construed (by me) to be symbolism toward the self preservation argument. i.e. EAT!

I loved 28 Days Later but disagree about the slow zombies. To me they represent, amongst many other things, the relentless inevitability of death. No matter how fast you run you cannot escape zombies. Its also the sheer number of them. & in most of Romero's movies it is human beings that fuck things up, their personal desires & mistakes which allow the zombies to win.

It's good to be the king...
I dunno I think 'W' was a pretty terrifying horror film and that lead zombie George was downright frightening - lol
