Dirk, you have Kiwi trees? Where do you live? I've never seen a Kiwi tree. Or is it a bush or something? Send me some! I love Kiwi.

They grow on woody vines which can be supported. I have some growing on a pergola, and they've been producing fruit for two years now. They're very easy to grow. I'm in northern Indiana, so nearly all of the U.S. is able to grow Kiwi.

Perhaps I'll bring you some at harvest time. :)

As a big fan, I have a request - I would love to see a pic of you sucking your thumb. Of course, I would prefer the kind of shot that would show off the back of your sexy hand witn the veins standing out, but I would be grateful for whatever you were willing to offer up ...

;-)

Sucking my thumb? Well... I dunno how I feel about this one. I think I'm gonna have to turn you down on this one. Sorry!

Within the next few months, or pretty much through the end of Summer, I'm not going to be able to do many, if any at all, specific requests like this. My bf is on his way back home from CA, he'll be here in a couple hours, and we're gonna be super busy all summer, traveling all over the place, shooting, and taking care of other things.

That's okay Harley - I'm still a big fan ...

... but it's not that unusual you know, there is a thread for this FYI

I'm too picky with my coffee to make it myself. It's never the same when I make it :( I've tried all sorts of things. The regular coffee with creamer and sugar, a keurig with flavored coffee and mixing some sugar, creamer, and ice, and even mixing the coffee and stuff in a blender with ice to make a frappe. It's never very good, so I just go out for it. No biggie.

Hmm. My cappuccino machine has measurements on the bowl, carafe, etc. so it generally comes out the same every time. And quite good. The only downside is the time it takes to whip it all up... but its gotta be less than going to the store. :dunno:

But I like my coffee cold, either iced or frappe. So I'd have to make it the night before and keep it in the fridge til morning. What I do is buy the 4 pack starbucks frappes that they sell at most grocery and drug stores (they come in a bottle), so I have one of those every morning then head out to either McDonald's for a caramel frappe or Starbucks for a chai tea latte.

Nah I don't think it's unusual, I didn't doubt that. I'd just feel really silly doing it.

Glad you're still a big fan! :)

There's a great method of brewing cold coffee. You use less water, and put ice cubes in the pot. The ice melts, makes it the right water amount, but the end product is cold. Check it out. I love a good Vietnamese iced coffee.

Don't even have to do that with a cappuccino machine, because you're brewing espresso. You're dealing with demitasses, so a small amount of hot liquid. You just steam/froth less milk and make up with difference with cold milk. :dunno:

EDIT

Oh, if anyone is keeping track of topics discussed in this thread... you can now add grocery shopping habits and coffee brewing to the list. :1orglaugh

I love coffee, but I'm never going to get this "cold coffee" malarkey. I tried a can of iced coffee from a vending machine in Tokyo, because I'm a "try everything once" kind of guy, and it nearly made me heave. I knew it would, but I just had to try it. Not for me. I can't even drink my coffee once it hovers around "lukewarm" never mind actively chilled.

Then again, my mum heaves at the idea of hot squash. I made myself a warming cup of hot Vimto the other day, but you can do it with orange squash, blackcurrant, pretty much any cordial.

I'm with your mum on this one. I even keep water in the fridge to ensure ice cold squash.
If I want something warming (other than tea or coffee), then Bovril does the trick - Chicken or Beef.

What he is talking about is akin to Kool aid, but comes in concentrated liquid rather than powder. He is not talking pumpkins.

Iced coffee, lattés and cappuccinos can vary heavily in quality, and Tokyo vending machines probably aren't setting the bar. You still might not enjoy it, but it might be worth trying it again, and making sure you're trying a quality product.

Ahh ok that makes sense now. I'd probably prefer that cold too, there's not many drinks I like warm.

Agreed. There have been some chilled, iced, and frozen blended coffee drinks that I ended up throwing in the trash because they were so awful, but those are few and far between. You definitely gotta have quality stuff.

Back from vacation! Had a great time in Chincoteague last week feeding the wild ponies apples, grilling every night on the porch, and had a camp fire on the beach. Here's some pics from one of my latest sets released on my site :)
