Fudgesicles are pretty amazing. I could sit and eat an entire box of those things. But I think usually I prefer fruity stuff without dairy. Dairy is such an asshole to me, makes me all bloated and makes me gain weight- I once gained 10 pounds in a single month because I had a glass of milk at breakfast every morning, plus I don't like how thick some dairy products are. When I make smoothies, they're more of a slushy since all I put in them is fruit, ice, and some fruity juice. No cream of any sort.

You saying you gained 10 pounds in a month makes me wonder what kind of milk you were drinking, in addition to any other things in your diet that might have been out of place (it's the trainer in me, I'm sorry).

Smoothies are meant to be slush IMO. If you add dairy, I consider that more of a milkshake.

I ate very healthy growing up, much more healthy than I do now. Home cooked meals every night with every food in the pyramid, always a meat, grain, some veggies, and usually some sort of fruit mix, and good lunches. Didn't get many sweets since we were poor, so usually I'd snack on triscuits with cheese, peanut butter and bananas, yogurt, etc. Nowadays I eat pretty crap food, like hot dogs, cheeseburgers, pizza, lots of pasta, chips, cookies, frozen meals. Every now and then I'll cook something healthier like fish and potatoes or steak and broccoli. Don't get much fruit so I drink a lot of v8 and make smoothies like I mentioned before.

The trainer in you? So you're a... personal trainer? That's nifty.

That's the tough thing about being older and living on your own, it can be hard to get yourself to cook for yourself. I know there are plenty of times where I have wanted to say "screw it" and order a pizza, but I try to make meals at home as often as I can (not only because they're healthier but because it helps save money too). I find it helps to make a lot of things at once and fill your fridge and freezer with them, so then all you have to do is open either door, look, and select as opposed to gathering ingredients and crafting something when you don't feel up to it.

Yes, I am. I've never thought of it as nifty, but thank you very much.

I don't have much room to store food. I share a fridge with 2 other people (boyfriend and roommate), and the roommate has a tendency to cook something and instead of putting it in a container, he puts the entire pan in the fridge. And my boyfriend buys food in bulk, so there's all this food of things I'm not interested in eating. He has a whole pork (or is it turkey? can't remember), which I don't like, and it's been sitting in the freezer for like 2 months. I'm not eating it, so unless he cooks it and eats the entire thing himself, it's gonna be there for a while.

So I go grocery shopping probably at least twice a week for just a few things that'll hold me over for a couple days. Wish I could do grocery shopping like a normal person and only go like once or twice a month to stock up on things.

Is that what normal people do? I go weekly. I guess it's not surprising that's not normal.

I have to go at least two times a week, since I buy for the household. Once or twice a month sounds too infrequent to me.

Coming from someone who goes at least 2 times a week, I think you sound plenty normal....in this thread anyway. In the "Coolest Rockstar" one, I'm not so sure.

Oh well now I don't feel as bad! Though I do still feel weird for going to the store every other day for another drink. If it's not more pre-made lattes, it's more v8 juice or tea.

Maybe you should get yourself a juicer and a cappuccino machine. :dunno:

You can't shop twice a month and cook fresh, for the most part. In a few weeks, I'll have produce coming out of my ying yang from the garden, so then I'll have to shop less, as I have all the meat I need for about a year, all the produce will come from my garden, and I make my own pasta and bread. Then shopping slows down. But during non-growing months, I'm at the grocery store three times a week.

Maybe you should start making cooking videos. It works for other OCSMs who don't have a tenth the lovely personality you do...

I do. I have around 25 fruit trees, raspberry bushes, strawberry plants, kiwi plants, and blueberry bushes. Nothing quite like fruit picked and eaten while still warm from the sun.

I have a big family. We eat a lot of preserves, pies, and fruit. We also manage to give quite a lot to the local homeless shelter. We commit to providing all their fruit needs for one month of the year.

hats off to you, sir! thats pretty awesome

I'm too picky with my coffee to make it myself. It's never the same when I make it :( I've tried all sorts of things. The regular coffee with creamer and sugar, a keurig with flavored coffee and mixing some sugar, creamer, and ice, and even mixing the coffee and stuff in a blender with ice to make a frappe. It's never very good, so I just go out for it. No biggie.

Dirk, you have Kiwi trees? Where do you live? I've never seen a Kiwi tree. Or is it a bush or something? Send me some! I love Kiwi.
