Valiant effort from Lewis but in the end just did not have enough tyre to get past the Red Bull.

Yep, good race overall, especially near the end. It was looking iffy for Bottas and Ricciardo, but they survived.

Seemed like Lewis' front/rear aero balance was off. He should have been able to go MUCH deeper on the super softs. But he reported that he had too much front wing and that was causing the rear to slide, degrading the tires. Between that, the bearing problem in the transmission and the seat bolster issue at Baku, Mercedes AMG seems to have more than a few "quality control" issues.

But I believe that Seb and Kimi are running short on power unit components. So unless there's something in the rules that allow for those parts to be repaired/refurbished, seems like they're going to have some grid penalties before season's end. Course, knowing how Merc did last year, two or three of Lewis' engines will probably explode in a ball of fire every time the Ferraris get a penalty.

Verstappen started this year by comfortably beating Ricciardo but right now he can't buy good luck. Its either his car or other drivers taking him out of the running at the moment.

Also I think this race was the final nail in the coffin for Kyvat, you can make a mistake and hit Alonso, but when it also takes out a Red Bull driver your days are numbered (as if they weren't already).

I agree with you on Kyvat. His shelf life due date is now past.

Ah! Silverstone! Big changes are on the horizon (seriously?)

Verstappen at least has a lot of fun driving the simulator around the track

What were your guys thoughts on #F1LiveLondon? It looked like it was pretty cool! I'm pumped for Silverstone- one of my favorite GP'S

Oh yes, Silverstone is a great Grand Prix. And it cones at a time where the competition is well underway, and the top drivers already have their knives between their teeth.

Ferrari had an engine update, and Ricciardo has to start last

That wonderful moment when a McLaren is fastest in qualifying, just a pity we didn't get some more rain after Q1

Max Verstapüpen REALLy smoked Vettel from the start.

Now he is in 3rd position, behind Hamilton and Raikkönen

This GP was crazy. You'd think that the medium temperatures would make things easier, regarding tires, brakes and so on.

But damn, some guys were unlucky today

yep :) That last lap was insane! I also loved the Max/Vet fight at the beginning, nothing like wheel to wheel racing. Ya'll know I'm just happy that Max's car got to the finish :D Can Kvyat just get out of Formula 1 already? :brick:

I laughed at Vettel's radio communication after his battle with Verstappen.

"he shoved me off the track!"

Yeah he did, the corner after you did the same to him. I know it was predictable but it still made me laugh at how he's always playing the victim.

Solid race by Hamilton after his London absence, it helped that all his rivals had various problems to contend with over the weekend but he'll feel justified that taking a break for a few days was the right call for him. On the other end of the scale, Palmer is struggling badly to convince anyone he's got a future in F1, doesn't help when in your home GP your teammate has got upgrades that you don't have access to and that your car breaks down again. I'm not saying he would've scored points but like Verstappen has in previous races, his car is letting him down a bit too much.

Right now I'd be tempted to take the outside bet for the title and put my money on Bottas, very solid drive and didn't lose his cool when he first tried to pass Vettel.

Yep, this made me think that something really has to be done about the penalty system in place at the moment. Supposing that was Q3 with mixed weather conditions... and Alonso managed to qualify on pole... he would still start back of the grid due to a 30-place grid penalty. Nobody wants to see that.

Rather than punishing the drivers for mechanical issues, could they not just dock constructors points or something?

I was joking that we should make a drinking game, every time Vettel's hand goes up in the air you have to take a drink

DTM driver Lucas Auer will get his first taste of Formula 1 machinery with an appearance for Force India during the post-race test in Hungary.
The Austrian drives a BWT-sponsored Mercedes in DTM, the same backers of the Force India team that led to the pink livery this year. Auer – the nephew of former F1 driver Gerhard Berger – is currently second in the drivers' championship and will drive a half day on each of the two days of testing at the Hungaroring.

Goping WAY back to the ages of Häkkinen and Schumacher:

An epic Silverstone race, with incredible car handling from Häkkinen (Go to minute ~15:00), and a very unusal win from Schumacher

I think we better make it beer or we'll all be sideways before the halfway point.
