i think if my team the gators could be # 1 IF THEY IMPROVE ON DEFENSE.

Hmm.
LSU did what most of us thought would happen, win the BCS title game against Ohio State, and in a convincing manner. 2 straight wins for the SEC conference and 2 straight losses for Ohio State, which is quickly becoming the Buffalo Bills of college championship games. All in all, this crazy season proves that a play-off system is needed. I would suggest that the NCAA take the top 8 teams, seed them 1-8, 2-7, etc, and play them in 4 bowls, with the semis in other bowls and then play the championship. 7 bowl games. What bowls? Fiesta, Rose, Orange, and Sugar, with 2 others, like Cotton and Holiday. Rotate what bowl gets the championship. And a clear cut national championship team.

My Final FINAL Poll.

1. LSU - (12-2, won BCS Title Game) Are the Tigers the best team of 07/08? Possibly. Survivor of 07/08? Definitely.

2. USC - (11-2, won Rose Bowl) The Trojans are probably suffered the worst loss of the season (to Stanford) this side of Michigan's loss to Appalachian State.
3. Georgia - (11-2, won Sugar Bowl) The Bulldogs are possibly the best team in the nation ...to not play for its conference championship.
4. Missouri - (12-2, won Cotton Bowl) The Tigers are another "what if" team with a strong dominating showing in their bowl game.
5. Kansas - (12-1, won Orange Bowl). The Jayhawks capped off a wonderful season with the BCS's best bowl game win.

6. West Virginia - (11-2, won Fiesta Bowl) Mountaineers quickly turned a loss to Pitt and loss of their coach into an overwhelming win against Oklahoma.
7. Texas - (10-3, won Holiday Bowl) The Longhorns are left wondering how they could have lost the games they lost...
8. Virginia Tech - (11-3, lost Orange Bowl) Even though the Hokies lost, they had a tremendous season, being in the top 10 all year.
9. Oregon - (9-4, won the Sun Bowl) The Ducks suffered the worst injury, losing their QB, and with him, a chance at the National Championship.
10. Tulsa - (10-4, won the GMAC Bowl) When a team wins their bowl game by 56 points, like the Golden Hurricanes did, they have to be ranked.

Thanks to everyone for making this a fun season at FreeOnes!

BCS National Champions!!

Down go the Buckeyes....AGAIN!!! :1orglaugh

The 2008/9 Top 5 I posted earlier...was my own. I haven't found anyone posting 2008 rankings yet.

Speaking of next season...here is the Out of Conference schedule of what a real team looks like..

USC Trojans
@Virginia
Ohio State
Notre Dame (okay, let's "assume" the Irish will be .500)

Here is another typical LSU OOC schedule..psst..I am embarrassed for them and I don't like LSU!

Sat, Aug 30 North Texas Baton Rouge, La. (Tiger Stadium)
Sat, Sep 06 Troy Baton Rouge, La. (Tiger Stadium)
Sat, Sep 13 TBD Baton Rouge, La. (Tiger Stadium)

Gee, LSU...I hope y'all don't spend many late nights planning for that "Murderer's Row"...

Here is Florida's 2008 OOC
Hawai'i at home
Miami at home
The Citadel at home
FSU

Well, Florida...props for taking on the 'Canes. Let's hope they're atleast decent next year. Hawaii looks weak now that June Jones is gone. The Citadel..do they even play football? What is lame about The Citadel is that it is right before the FSU season-ender..nothing like feasting on a cupcake before a big game....

2008 Georgia Bulldogs OOC
Georgia Southern
Central Michigan
@ Arizona State
G Tech

Props for heading to Tempe, Bulldogs. Too bad it's not early on when the heat would certainly be 100s. GTech game looks soft now that they're breaking in a new coach.

On paper...SC has the toughest OOC schedule on this list...:thefinger

OOC of my GOLDEN EAGLES for 08:
10/18 @ Auburn
TBD Boise State
9/20? Louisiana Lafayette
9/13? @ Arkansas State

USC is known for its strong OOC schedule, and I think thats why they get more props mid-season/late-season when all the victories come in and analysts realize lots of teams have racked up wins against no-bodies. I could almost scheduling one team as a breather but 4 games and have them be your entire OOC test? LOL.

CptHa: Do you know if So Miss's games against Auburn and BSU will be televised, and to the West Coast? I wanna see!

Let's take a minute and all think about all the pussy Pete has access to at USC....aaah..

Now, let's think about all the NFL-calibre pussy that awaits him in Atlanta...MILFs...Strippers (remember those strip clubs the New York Knicks got in trouble at a couple of years ago)...Southern Belles....

I think he's gone!

Tough schedule or not, this may hurt:

Report: Falcons looking to meet with USC's Carroll

http://cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/story/10567211

I think the only way Pete Carroll leaves USC is if Atlanta offers him unlimited power and a TON of money... and even then it would be a hard decision. On paper, why would Carroll leave a GEM of a football institution, one that is not in any sort of decline, and he being the Prince of the City for the toxic mess that is Atlanta? The Falcons barely made the playoffs with "all-pro" Mike Vick and now that he's gone, they won't be a factor for a long while! Carroll's enthusiastic approach to the game will fall flat on the Atlanta players; they might get pumped up, but as the season wears on, lets face it, they will tune out his rah-rah ways because they gunna get paid... Carroll will not be able to threaten a grown-ass man. The same reason titsrock said he could leave (the women) is the same reason Carroll should stay away...the Falcon players have that same access (and look at their record)!

Long post short: Unless Pete gets G.M./Head Coach titles and is able to bring in Trojan staff and USC Song Girls...I don't expect him to leave sunny California.

Once in a while there will be a person that's good at coaching both in the NCAA and pro levels, Jimmy Johnson comes to mind as the only recent one off the top of my head, but more often than not some people are only good at one level and not the other. Carroll definitely seems like somebody that is a lot more suited to where he is now. Both sides are littered with examples of people that just don't make it when they transfer over. Not only are recruiting and drafting different and require different skills, but it's a lot harder to punish people in the pros. The Coaches don't have as much control over the players there and have to know how to handle superstar personalities and their agents.

Not sure about TV for those two, if any, the Auburn game will be a regional broadcast, on Lincoln Financial (SEC's reg. 'caster) and the Boise game might get put on a Thursday for ESPN like they did with the last game.

Yeah. Rivals has USC at number 1 and Georgia at number 2. Watch out next season for Oklahoma--who they have at number 4. They're returning practically everybody.

UCLA just hired Norm Chow as offensive coordinater.

Interesting. Coupled with the hiring of Rick Neuheisel as head coach, it appears UCLA is finally intent on developing a football program that's on par with its basketball program.

WOW!
I think it's a superb hire for the Bruins... and should be a cause of concern to the USC Trojans!
