Yes and just like bluray was 10+ years ago a concept and R&D thing, it then becomes the new standard.
yes but there were many concepts, not all became the new standard.
in the first post you sounded like Holographic disc for sure will be the best which nobody knows
PS4 will continue to use bluray ofcoarse but by that time they will be like they say, into different wavelenths, quad layers and so on, in the BD format. BDXL (100gb) disc are already being pushed for release.
I am sceptic about BDXL cause it is incompatible with existing players
so if a studio released a movie on BDXL then it would be incompatible for alot of players
i would like more the Pioneer way of doing it which they have promised is that 1TB that they are working on will be compatible with all players
Having tv seasons on a single disc...that would be sweet.
yeah it would be but not happening atm
also as disc size increase the resolution will also increase so we don't know if a season will fit on it
and also studios would not use something like BDXL which doesn't work on alot of people's blu-ray players and hence the sales will be low
another point is that if a season is on a disc the price will be the combined of all the seasons that we pay now and many people don't pay that much at the same time but like to pay in small amounts so studios won't release then too
Not likly on newer shows $$ but good for older shows, id bite and purchase that anytime to save shelf space.
studios don't care shit about Shelf space, kif they price 10 seasons of 'Friends'
for a hefty price, nobody would buy
but people would buy some seasons for a small amount and then another few seasons
sorry for discussing all this but the reason i did it was because i have been tracking tech and sales for a long time and companies don't launch the product untill they think they are going to be profitable
