NFL '18 Season Thread

We are 4 days away from the start of the 2018 NFL season, so today we honor quarterback Brett Favre. Favre was an 11x Pro Bowler who won three consecutive MVP awards in the mid-nineties (1995, '96, '97). He currently holds the record for most consecutive starts by any NFL player at 297 (321 including playoffs), a streak which lasted from September 27, 1992 to December 5, 2010. Farve won a Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers in 1996 (XXXI) and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016.

Season seems to be coming fast but not much hype.At least every one is getting paid guaranteed money for once.

It has been 214 days since a meaningful NFL game was played. Today, the long national nightmare known as "The Offseason" finally comes to an end. Football is back.

Not for PIT RB L. Bell. Dumb ass. He gave up ~ $850K check by not reporting Saturday by 4:00PM EST..

Two ties already in this young NFL season (PIT-CLE, MIN-GB).

Bills cornerback Vontae Davis allegedly quit/retired at halftime of today's loss to the Chargers.

The Panthers lost to the odious Falcons. Cleveland found a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory against the Saints. The Tampa Buccaneers are 2-0 and if MVP was awarded today it would go to Ryan Fitzpatrick or Patrick Mahomes.

Yeah, very uncharacteristic to have 2 ties already after 2 weeks of games. But, compare it to Soccer. With this many games played, how many ties would there already be in Soccer? :D

If I played for the Bills I would have quit, too!

The streak is over. The Cleveland Browns have won their first game since December 24th, 2016. 635 days.

A better QB than showboat Newton will ever be. For sure ;)

The Bills will be starting Derrick Anderson at quarterback this weekend. Nine years ago, the Bills lost to a Derrick Anderson led Browns squad by a score of 6-3 despite Anderson only throwing for 23 yards.

That's kinda funny.

LeVeon Bell still has not reported to the Steelers which is contrary to earlier rumors that he would report during Pittsburgh's bye week.

Carolina comes back from a 17-0 in the fourth quarter to defeat the Eagles 21-17.

Drew Brees becomes the fourth QB to throw for 500 TDs (nice catch, Ben Watson - against your former team!), and also the third QB (I'm looking at you Peyton Manning and Brett Favre) to beat all 32 NFL teams. Congrats to a class-act, and true competitor!

An undisputed Hall of Famer, one of the all-time greats, a master at his craft and a I wish he would retire already. :) . Congratulations, to Mr. Brees.

The Dallas Cowboys have traded a first round pick to the Raiders for wide receiver Amari Cooper. This gives the Raiders three first rounders in next year's Draft and leaves many Dallas fans and NFL observers scratching their heads.
