The coconut rice sounds nice.
oh, rice is something sacred in my house. you don't fuck with rice. and yes, a rice cooker is always more than acceptable, but not necessary. i finally bought my girl one this last year for christmas. ive been making it on the stove my whole life.
i don't measure, my girl does. i use the filipino finger technique to measure mine, she uses a cup system like bob. except we turn to a boil, then cover it, but then we simmer (this is stove top) until its done. about 16-20 minutes or so, depends. the rice tells you when its done by not coming off the sides of the pot when tilted on its side.
lol I have a rice maker actually. I am contracted to film one video for every day of the week, so with my travel schedule I usually film 4 videos one night and the other 3 the next. So time is an issue and if I can buy some nice sticky rice for $2 a quart to suit my purpose, then it makes everything so much easier.
Remember, after each video I have to wash the dishes and cutting board, put everything away and prep for the next one. Rice is time consuming and adds to the dishes when buying it is so much easier for what I'm doing.
make a little better sense now?
and Bob, that burger was AMAZING!
oh there is this machine called a "Ninja" which does slow cookers, fryer pasta maker all in 1 machine. i watched a video where this chick puts the raw spaghetti noodles, sauce and everything in at once and it cooks it lol supposedly the thing is amazing.
I found the video! here's the link to it on amazon http://amzn.com/B009T7H0QM
dont get it twisted! I would NEVER cook spaghetti like this lol but this thing is supposed to be awesome as a slow cooker. you can brown / sear your meat in it as well so no need to do that on the stove top prior to adding to the slow cooker which would be nice, one less pot to wash lol
in Curacao they use peanut sauce a lot...is that Dutch as well or just the islands?
Yep, we have a lot of Indonesian restaurants over here in the Netherlands because of our history with that country and the Indonesian people brought the peanut sauce with them.
It is especially popular to put it over our fries even in combination with mayonnaise and sometimes chopped raw unions, yummie!
