Question Mariah: for someone who wants to learn how to cook, what do you think would be the best place to start and grasp the basics? Sort of start off small and simple and then slowly work their way up to more complicated dishes like what you make.

most of the stuff I make is very simple.

But, I would learn to do a few of the necessities first. Learn to make an omelette. learn to make a steak. learn to sautee garlic in olive oil. just watch some cooking videos (mine preferably!!) :) and follow along.

and confidence. Some people will never make good cooks because they doubt themselves.
Never get discouraged. Sometimes things just do not work out. Don't worry about it.

Ok, get the scowl off of your faces! Those of you who have had kimchi know how fucking delicious it is! It's cabbage that has been pickled/fermented and it can be spicy or mild. It is a Korean dish that is served with almost everything! It's low carb, low fat and very good for your digestive tract!
What You'll Need:
Scallops
Kimchi (in refrigerated section of your grocery store)
Seaweed Salad w/ sesame seeds (you can buy at your local grocery store or Japanese restaurant!)
Wasabi
Sea Salt
Lemon Pepper

Open your mind and you will devour this!!!

Those are bay scallops, right? Those are much larger than the ones found in my market. Sea scallops I can find plenty of so I guess that should suffice. But the bay ones are so much sweater than the seas.

Plasma, as said by others, find 2 things in your fridge or pantry and throw them together. Take a bite and think about something to add. Do that and take another bite. You are now cooking. The most important thing about cooking is tasting. The things you see in recipes are just guidelines. Mariah, and others just like top chefs, cook the same stuff over and over again and constantly adjust measurements as they taste. That's the fun and challenge of cooking. You put that stuff in your mouth and once your eyes roll back into your head, you have created your dish.

Nothing complicated. Try making a perfect sandwich. What do you like? Throw it on there. Taste it then add something else. Make it on a different bread. Starting to taste nice? Try it with mustard instead of mayo. Maybe a little of both. How would this taste with ham instead of turkey? Try it. With cheese or without. Find the fun in this.

The things you see me make in those videos....about 80% I have NEVER made before and am making them for the first time on camera. I don't do a test run on the recipes or anything and if they sucked I promise I would say so. I have said a few times that things are ok but not my type and one time I said I just didn't like something. But I simply think about things I like and start tweaking other things into it. Or I find a few versions of a recipe and then merge them and add my own twist.

just have fun with it and start simple. buy a pork shoulder and make that and then start experimenting with the pork you get. make sandwiches. make bbq sauce. or pot roasts which are so simple but so good.

let us know how it goes! :)

I grabbed Prunes and Tabasco sauce.

I call the end result the "Anal Volcano."

(But srly, made Korean style hamburgers last night with soy sauce, green onion and garlic. Were pretty good, but that's playing to my strengths since it's BBQ)

What You'll Need:
Strawberries
2 cups heavy cream

I was challenged to make cornbread from a mix that Clarence from Mobile Alabama couldn't fuck up, but with my own twist. So I shopped for a decent looking cornbread mix, and decided to throw in some jalapenos and some bacon. Once I started thinking, I came up with the idea to make it in a cast iron skillet, in the bacon drippings!
Here's what I came up with. By the way, it was AMAZING! I added an egg which made it nice and moist too! :)
What You'll Need:
cornbread mix
diced jalapenos
bacon crumbled
cook bacon in cast iron skillet remove and leave grease
pour cornbread mix into skillet with grease and stir.
add in jalapeno and bacon crumbles
bake as directed on your cornbread mix package!

spent the day on my boat at a sandbar fishing and drinking too many IPA's with friends. we caught 14 pompano and some bonnet head sharks. just cooked the pompano with some panko and lime with rice and it was awesome! and yes, I made the rice my god damn self! :) if you aren't familiar with pompano here's a pic before & after :)

Interesting fishes, the pompano is the silver one down? Do you release the sharks back after catching them or? Aren't pompano's poisonous? I don't know much about them.

yeah the pompano is the silver one they aren't poisonous they are delicious flaky white fish yeah i release the sharks I love sharks and when i hear people kill them when they catch them it pisses me off beyond belief. the bonnet head shark is very much like a little hammerhead they are very odd and swim right up to you I was on my raft and there were 4 or 5 circling around me before I went to the shark lab in bimini I would have freaked but now I understand them and know they have zero interest in people for food. they are just curious. so I would NEVER hurt one. when we spear fish we've had a few bullsharks that get too close and had to give up the fish once we gave up the fish but he kept after us circling they are scary because they are so big and have more testosterone than any other animal on earth but they are very tentative we got back to the boat and he stayed around for over an hour. it was creepy but again, curious and the bleeding fish is what attracted him.

yea, sharks are interesting, seen only once in life, in a aquarium as a kid when was 7. it is interesting they don't lay eggs, they give birth to living sharks, similar like humans. so the bonnet sharks don't atack humans, but they can touch you, interesting fact.

no sharks "attack" humans. they don't have hands so they bight to see what things are. almost always any bight is because of limited visibility or because a person looks like something they are used to eating like seals. I have been in the water with dozens of sharks at different times, 3 times bull sharks and one time a very large lemon shark and an enormous hammerhead. the rest were reef sharks and a white tip reef shark which I have a video of. the bull sharks are known to be killers and so aggressive which is pure media hype. I spent an entire day at one of the top shark research labs in the world in Bimini and they said when they put fish out for the bulls they will circle it sometimes for 40 minutes before they eat it. the only time they are aggressive is when they are challenged by other sharks. that is the testosterone but they are very cautious. when great whites bight its' because they feel challenged or because they are confused thinking that people are seals.

Sharks are amazing creatures and the technology that they have around their noses is amazing. there are thousands of sensors all around their noses and mouths and if you touch their noses or turn them upside down it scrambles the delicate balance and they go limp completely.

checkout this video of sharks being catatonic this was done in Bimini at the UNEXSO shark lab
