I want to watch a rivalry like Ohio St/Michigan with the talent of a New Orleans Saints/San Diego Chargers game. I want the atmosphere of The Coliseum or Baton Rouge and the unbeatable mystique of Peyton Manning and Brett Favre. I want the passion, heart and pride of the college game and the brutal playoff gauntlet of the NFL.

I can't choose just one.

To my knowledge, Peyton Manning is the closest thing we have to a real QB. Manning calls his own plays. All the other QBs in the league do what the coach tells them--even audibles are decided for them.

The NFL needs to get the game back into the game.

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
College football is an absolute joke. They design the game in such a terrible way, but fans eat it up because they have no idea what real football is. You only have to have one foot in-bounds to complete a catch? The clock stops after you get a first down? If you fall down while carrying the ball, you can't get back up and run with it? Terrible. Just terrible.

You need 2 feet to run but only 1 to catch....

There are plenty of dumb rules in the NFL too. Starting with OT, then there's all the different ways to analyze and penalize defenders for tackling the QB.....

The innovation in the game of football happens at the college level, not the Pro level...

The same rules apply to college quarterbacks too, sooooo...:dunno:

College football is pure crap though. If it's so innovative, then why is the only level of football that plays the way they do? Even middle school and high school don't buy into that style of football. College football, for the most part, is extremely boring and totally one-sided. A top 10 ranked team vs. a total crap team that nobody has ever heard of? Yeah, THAT'S entertaining.

Let's not forget the whole BCS and the lack of a playoff system.

There's about 30 different college bowls now. So everyone gets to win!

It reminds me of a George Carlin bit about school kids never being called losers when they lose 'cause it hurts their feelings.

Having said that...I don't hate college football. I just think it's the kids game and the NFL is the mens game. That's all.

I voted college football. Good arguments for both sides have been stated and I like to see a good college team vs. a good college team as well as a good nfl team vs. a good nfl team. Hate to see a matchup of power house against little sisters of the poor, whether it is college or pro.

Sadly we have too many power houses vs little sitsters of the poor in both college and nfl (although the nfl is trying to make all teams suck).

--The QB protection bullshit starts in the Pro game. I'm all for protecting a QBs knees, but trying to limit contact with the QB will only inspire QBs to start taking dives and fishing for penalities.

--Pass Interference at the Pro level is a joke. The pass defense rules are more fairer in the college game.

--The Spread Option, Wide Receiver screens, the bunch formation, the pistol offense gained prominence at the college level and are either being copied into the NFL now or they already have been assimilated. We can give the NFL credit for popularizing the Wildcat offense, an offense which really isn't used much at the college level or hasn't been met with much interest thus far..:dunno:

-The BCS is a joke. No argument there. A playoff is the best way to settle things but it may mean the end of one of the greatest advantages of the college game--the bowl games. It's not simple to just install a playoff system.

--Even the NFL has cupcakes--hello Cleveland, hello St Louis. Nobody cares or remembers when an NFL cupcake beats an NFL power. EVERYONE remembers when a college power gets upset....

--The NFL regular season is just a formality to get the best teams to the playoffs. Every game actually does matter with the college game.

I like college. Nice, concise season, fun to watch the students play. There are crappy things too - like the BCS. The on-campus excitement of College puts it ahead of the NFL for me.

I do, however, enjoy me a good Sunday afternoon NFL game.

True, but you only get to watch 3 games on sunday, CBS, FOX and Sunday night. Your lucky if they have a double header. College football last pretty much from noon till midnight on Saturday with games on all major networks all day long.

A good point. And as I watch all my football with no pants on, I clearly prefer the Saturday game day. Nothing like a pantsless day.

I do have to be careful when I have the spicy hot wings, however (he said, from experience).

MMMMMMM Now Lurking your making my mouth water.

Yes, the same rules apply, just not as much. Mainly because so many QBs are mobile in college, the refs give the defense the benefit of the doubt.

In the pros you're not allowed to breath on the QBs.

What are you talking about!?!? Many high schools run the option, spread, wildcat, pistol, pro, etc......

College football, for the most part, is extremely boring and totally one-sided. A top 10 ranked team vs. a total crap team that nobody has ever heard of? Yeah, THAT'S entertaining.

ESPN had a list of Greatest games of the decade. The fans voted on their top 25. 1-4 were all college football games.

Also, have you seen some of the NFL games this year? What will happen if the Saints played the Raiders? Plus, there's two undefeated teams! Where's the parity?

Let's not forget the whole BCS and the lack of a playoff system.

Yes, that does suck, but it does make the regular season exciting.

What's bullshit is the Colts and Saints probably not playing their starters for the last few games.

Conference Championship Weekend is the greatest weekend in the NFL season. That is must see TV for sure.

But the college bowls on Jan 1....c'mon...it's porn for the sports fan...
