I doubt many fishermen (or other tradesmen) see themselves as capitalists first if at all. Fishing is little more than a means to pay for their shelter, food, clothing, etc. I doubt seriously they are particularly philosophical about it beyond their ability to do it or not and that impact on their livelihood.

This disaster is showing the systemic failures of Big Business and Government. It does not surprise me that BP would be a sinister money-grubbing company in the face of a disaster they created. I hold them in little regard and have no doubt they will be crying to the American Tax Payer to fund their cleanup no matter what the fuck they say.

It shocks me that STATE AND FEDERAL GOVTs are not acting with more urgency.

If our State and Federal Gov'ts are nothing but puppets for Big Business....do we really have a stable nation anymore?

CEO (of BP, Exxon, Statoil, whatever ... ) * Yes * . USA : * Remind the oilspill april 2010, you have a masterplan + a plan B + a plan C to re-lock your drillhole within 24hrs. in case of emergency ? * CEO : * ....äheemmm, Sir , not yet ....but ... * USA : * Leave our coastal waters NOW ! *

And the same for all of em who are drilling ALREADY without knowing how to react in cases of disaster. BP should be completely removed out the mexican gulf because of being a liar and bullshit-teller from 1st minute on.

Being a fan of pro wrestling, the way I look at this un-fucking-believable disaster is that the federal government and BP were like tag-team partners. The regulators just bought the oil company's assurances about "no danger" so long as the money kept pouring in.

Since the disaster, Obama has been as effective as Bush was in dealing with Katrina. Both of them are like Nero, fiddling while Rome burned. Did the feds do absolutely everything they could possibly do to prevent the eco-genocide that has been carried out here? Not in my eyes. And Bobby Jindal seems to have more momentum at doing something than the feds, though I'm sure the state was every bit as back-slapping as the feds were toward the oil companies, so long as they thought there was a dollar flow coming from these wells.

Everytime I hear Obama or crew with their "We're going to keep our foot on BP's neck", I just think that's Obama-speak for "Attaboy, Brownie!" because the effect is the same.

A bunch of do-nothing money-grubbing incompetents, that's what these people are. And when the going gets rough, they show what they're made of - nothing useful, unfortunately.

Reporters of German TV-broadcaster N-tv wanted to talk about the situation with fishermen from Louisiana, but they could not.

One of the fishermen said, they´re NOT allowed to talk with the press, because they had to sign so to BP. Them fishermen are now engaged from BP to clean up the mess BP left to the coast.

I didn't watch the press conference, and I don't know what she asked exactly, but I see Obama's refusal to bring our troops home and end our double occupations/democracy-building as the greatest mistake he will ever make.

Think of all the money that we would have now to fight this oil disaster? Think about all the military personnel and equipment we could throw at this thing? We have nothing because we're still bogged down fighting useless, endless 'wars.'

It will look incredibly cynical and political if Obama declares "Mission Accomplished" in August and brings our troops home right before elections. It's too late for him. That's a typical Bush/Cheney tactic (use the military to win an election).

This oil disaster is now the greatest natural disaster in the history of our nation. He could've seized the opportunity to rally all Federal forces to stop this leak and begin the cleanup and instead he chose to adopt a very lawyerly approach of "wait and see what facts develop"

It's too late. He could've rallied the Gov't, kicked BP aside, been declared a hero and NOBODY would go against him in the coming election or on any policy item.

This could've been his knockout shot to the tea gaggers and the Conservatives.

It all could've started with him bringing home the troops from Day 1 of his administration....
