Soccer is a better word than football. I don't see Americans ever calling the sport football. Like it or not, the American market is "THE FUTURE" for World Football :thefinger
Yeah, right, soccer is a better word for a game that's about kicking a ball around with your feet. That's why it's called "Fußball" (football) in German, "zúqiú" (football) in Chinese, "calcio" (kicking) or "pallone" (ball) in Italian, "fútbol" (football) in Spanish, "football" in French...
But because America is the market of the future (not China by any chance or India or Russia), as some Americans claim, all the world has to call it soccer. Sure. Well, at least you managed to scare the Japanese into calling it "Sakkâ" (Soccer) instead of the words they have for it like "kemari" or "shûkyû".
I somehow can't stop thinking, that this "lottery" for the Europeans play-offs was faked. Honestly, how big are the odds that in every pairing an underdog goes against a hands-down favorite?
Don't get me wrong, I really like, what Bosnia Herzegovina has done so far in the qualifyings, but Portugal, I don't think so. And when push comes to shove, everyone knows that France is amongst the top teams worldwide. That's why the Republic of Ireland, as charismatic as they may have been so far, will be eliminated. Same goes for Russia and Slovenia. No real expert seriously expects Slovenia to kick Russia out of the world cup. The only tight pairing is Greece vs Ukraine. And still the Greeks will win this no doubt, even if only by a hair.
