100 Greatest Guitarists

I just saw the list that Rolling Stone had for the 100 Greatest Guitarists of all time and I must say that the list is pretty stupid.

100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time

How is Johnny Ramone in the top 20? That's a big load of shit. And Jimmy Page being 9 and Jeck Beck being 14. They both should be in the top 5. And also Kurt Cobain being 12, I mean I love the guys music and he's one of the greatest song writers, but he is a shitty guitarist. LES PAUL 46....OMG!! The guy invented half the shit you can do on guitar and he's 46 that's sad. Keith Richards sucks too...not top 10 material. Angus Young 96..wow, I'm not even gonna say anything about that. I also dont really like Eddie Van Halen at all, but he is one kick ass guitarist...atleast top 20. And where the hell is Billy Corgan, Jerry Cantrell, or Dan Auerbach. I think that's pretty much all I have to say about it for now. It's pretty stupid....Rolling Stone does horrible lists.

Jimi Hendrix. Jimmy Page. Robin Trower. all guitar gods, few give them respect anymore because they're old and no one cares about them. A shame really.

i pretty much agree with the top 10 except for richards...hes good but not that good, garcia should be there, harrison and the edge should be higher too...but what a list...damn

pretty crappy list, granted jimi hendrix and jimmy paige are very good quitarists, ANGUS YOUNG of AC DC is 96? far far below the u2 and red hot chili peppers guitarists, that right there is ridiculous, terrible list.

that's a pretty old list...(Posted Aug 27, 2003). all lists suck anyway. just think about every time someone posts their favorite pornstar list, more often than not it's full of girls i can't stand.

my favorite: 61 Ike Turner
"hit me again ike, and this time put some stank on it!"

i was kind of surprised that none of the strictly guitar players made the list. like joe satriani, joe johnson or steve vai. i don't necessarily like their music, but they can play the guitar just like they're ringing a bell.

Eddie Hazel and Ritchie Blackmore should have been ranked higher. I thought the list was actually pretty decent. Everyone will have their own personal idea of where their favorites should rank. Billy Gibbons and Steve Vai should be in the top 20. To be honest, I think The Artist is one of the best guitar players around right now.

Steve Vai is good, but I hate the shit that he plays. Just shredding crap....I hate that stuff. Put him up against Jeff Beck in terms of versatility and Jeff Beck would kill him....kill him......anyday.

First off, mark tremonti is missing from the list, which is ridiculous since he is one of the best all round guitarists ive ever listened too. as is joe "top gun" satriani, which is a travesty. the pearl jam guitarists are also not on the list and to include cobain in that list and not the pearl jam guitarists is a joke. the thin lizzy guitarists are not on the list, those guys were some of the best non-american guitarists ever. eric johnson is also notably missing as is frank zappa and wes borland. the list seems like the editors of rolling stone sat around a table, came up with the names of a few big guitarists and put them in a list numbering them 1 to 100.

I got to the part where Stevie Ray Vaughn was lower than Eric Clapton, and then I stopped reading. Actually I got to the part where SRV wasn't number 1 and started to lose interest immediately. Eddie Van Halen 70th COME ON! Mark Knopfler (as previously stated) should be in the top 20. Carlos Santana behind Keith Richards and Kurt Cobain (who shouldn't even be on the top 1000 list). Steve Morse wasn't even there. John McGlaughin should be in the top 20. Oh, never mind.
