Ronaldo,Rivaldo,Roberto Carlos, and all the other good Brazil soccer players
LOOK FOR THE REPEAT
I think that Rivaldo will not be in the next World Cup :( Kaká will replace him on the tournament

No more Rivaldo... he doesn't play for the national team anymore, thank god (cheating bastard) - remember what he did against Turkey? And he spent half of the game rolling on the floor once they had the lead against Belgium and England as well. Even when he played for my wonderful Milan, I hated him.

Now; Brazil are formidable, but it's not ust Roberto Carlos and Ronaldo.

Their best and most influential player is Barca playmaker Ronaldinho. Amazing! Perhaps the best player in the world.

They have Milan's gifted playmaker Kaka. Brilliant!

They have Madrid's new influential tough guy Julio Baptista.

They have Mardid's new wonderkid from Santos, Robinho - look out for him.

They have the Italian league's most fearsome striker (after Sheva) - Inter Milan's Adriano - who is arguably better than Ronaldo.

They have Lyon's gifted hero and free kick maestro Juninho Pernambrucano.

So I would say they are STACKED... the team picks itself. But defensively, they are a bit frail, and this world cup it will be a case of Brazil needing to gel well, and score more than the other team - expect to see some 4-3s and 3-2s on Brazil's world cup trail.

Still I think Holland, Italy, England, Argentina and Germany all have a chance to win it, and who are we to count out France and Portugal?

Fox

Brazil doesn't have a bad defense, they just have an overwhelming offense. They've got Dida, Cafu, Lucio, Roberto Carlos (yeah he's a defender!) and Emerson (defensive midfielder).

As someone stated before me, England and Argentina have a tradition of going through the group stage and losing against their first real challenge and there is no way they'll both perfrom like they did in the friendly match just no so long ago.

I'd put my money on Brazil, Holland and Italy.

Congrats to Australia for Qualify for the first time since 1974....now only if Canada could ever qualify again....oh well 2010...but i have Portugues Parents (i was born in Canada) so rooting for Portugal

Did Czech play the second leg against Norway yet? How did they do?

(my TV's busted so I'm pretty out of it).

Switzerland lost against Turkey 2-4. But Suisse is qualified for the World Cup, because they won the first leg 2-0.
But Substitute players and security(!) of Turkey attacked players from Switzerland after the match. I hope, Turkey will be pubished for this.

Czech Republic won against Norwa 1-0 and is qualified. First leg: Norway - Czech Republic 0-1.

And Spain played draw 1-1 versus Slovakia and is also qualified. First leg: Spain - Slovakia 5-1.

WE'RE OFF TO GERMANY 2006!!!! :D

The Aussies are threw after beating Uruguay 4-2 on Penalties, after winning the 2nd leg 1-0 in Sydney in front of 83,000 fans to bring the agg score to 1-1. :nanner:

In the aftermath, there we're allegations that in the tunnel prior to start, The Uruguay Players w're kicking and abusing the Aussies.

This brings up a point. In Australian Rules Football (AFL - not soccer) the teams have seperate changerooms and tunnels into the ground - usually at opposite ends thus violence in the tunnels can't happen - what hasn't FIFA applied this in the round-ball code? :dunno:

Anyway for the first time in a long tim Soccer is on the front pages of the Newspapers here in Australia... Normally in Sydney it's Rugby League covering the front page and in my home city of Melbourne it's Australian Rules on the front page, back page and 30 page lift-out (yes the city LOVES Aussie Rules this much). Most people today are talking about the re-birth of Soccer in Australia and that it won't be the poorer cousin of the other Football codes.

:glugglug: But CHEERS to the AUSTRALIAN SOCCER-ROOS for breaking the curse and making it to the World Cup for the first time since 1974.

Strangely in 1974 (the only ever World Cup we've played in), it was in West Germany, for 2006 we'll be playing in... GERMANY!
At least this World Cup, us Aussies won't have to barrack for another country.

We won't win the world cup, but how sweet would it be for us to beat England.... again!

TRINIDAD MADE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THEY WON IN BAHRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JUSTICE IS DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THEY AVENGED UZBECKISTAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And at 34 Dwight Yorke will finally get to play in a World Cup... I wish so much that I could spend a night with the mother of his child, she is so beautiful. But she has fallen for an Australian, with more muscles than BNF and Van Damme put together, and I'm sure he's very happy with the Socceroos penalty shoot out win over Uruguay that means Cahill, Emerton, Kewell, Viduka, Schwarzer and co will also get to play in a World Cup.

Espana are going too (yay) and the Czechs, it looks like, and Switzerland beat Turkey but POOR TURKEY, to be in a group with Greece, Ukraine and Denmark, get a playoff and then go out on away goals, and miss out on a World Cup in the country where more Turkish immigrants live than any other country... Germany 06 would have been like a home World Cup for Turkiye.

Oh well, well done to the Swiss.

TRINIDAD BEAT BAHRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO OIL WEALTH IN FOOTBALL!!!

Hear Hear!!!

Justice has been done for Uzbekistan..........

Turkey could face World Cup expulsion (November 17, 2005)

"Turkey could be banned from the 2010 World Cup in the wake of the the violent scenes which followed their play-off defeat to Switzerland in Istanbul.

"We will act tough," FIFA president Sepp Blatter said.

"The catalogue of sanctions extends from a simple warning to suspension of the federation, which could mean exclusion from the next international event."

The teams drew 4-4 on aggregate Wednesday, but Switzerland reached next year's World Cup in Germany on away goals.

After the final whistle, objects were thrown onto the pitch and there was scuffle between players in the tunnel on the way to the changing room.

"In the truest sense of the word, fair play was trampled underfoot," Blatter said.

"This is unworthy of football. Football should promote understanding among peoples. This didn't happen here."

Blatter, who is Swiss, said he found it "difficult to speak as a Swiss and as a FIFA president about something that concerns both Switzerland and FIFA. But it's my responsibility."

"If a team that has won cannot celebrate on the pitch and instead have to run off like thieves, then something is wrong," Blatter added.

"Anything can happen - from nothing at all to the suspension of the Turkish federation or even a ban on participation in the next World Cup.

"What disturbs me the most is the lack of respect shown the official Swiss delegation from their arrival until their departure," he said.

Meanwhile, Turkish officials accused Blatter of being biased.

"Blatter's comments were extremely unfortunate," federation vice president Sekip Mosturoglu said.

"This was not a one-sided event."
"

Sorry to say that, but I'm glad the Turkish team didn't make it to the World Cup 2006 in Germany.

Germany has so many Turkish immigrants it'd be like every game is a home game for them. It's just a pity for them for having a tough group, getting to the playoffs, coming back from 2-0 and losing for away goals. Soccer is a cruel cruel game.

Brazil will not only win but Ronaldo will become the highest scoring player in World Cup History... he only has to score three more goals and he scored eight last time.

Talking about Ronaldo he is photographed with a topless Brazilian sports model here http://www.theladsguide.com/photo-gallery/soccer-star-ronaldo/ does anyone have any links for any more of her pics ?

I heard his gf said he's a sex maniac.
Just to enrich your knowledge.

Quick update (but you probably know this if you're a footy fan):

Following countries are seeded for World Cup 2006:

Brazil
England
Spain
Germany
Mexico
France
Argentina
Italy

Under the seeding system used by Fifa, England came out second to Brazil and Italy narrowly beat the USA into eighth place.

The main draw for the tournament will be made in Leipzig on Friday evening.

We checked it out thoroughly and we feel that FIFA's system, while flawed, worked out generally okay... the only change we would have made would have been to include Holland in the seeds, and put Mexico with the 4th pot (along with their regional rivals US, Costa and T&T, to keep them apart), and then moved Serbia from their own pot into the European pot in the spot vacated by Holland.

But other than that, these groups are perfect... the toughest group possible is Brazil-Holland-Paraguay-USA or that might not be poss (Braz/Para), so I would say England-Holland-Paraguay-USA. The weakest group possible is probably Mexico-Angola-Switzerland-Trinidad - if 2 North Americans are not allowed together then it's Mexico-Angola-Switzerland-Saudi Arabia. That would be one hell of a group (jk).

I am buying tickets for the tournament as soon as the draw is announced. Anyone who wants to go can get tickets for 20 pounds sterling/30 euros/40 dollars. www.fifaworldcup.com

The draw will be shown live at or around 8PM GMT, 9PM CET, in the USA it is live on ESPN2 at 3PM (or it might begin at 3.15pm) on Friday. The wife and I will be watching it in Queens, New York City before heading into Jackson Heights for an Indian meal, in case you care.

My only comment is that it feels...odd, hearing that England was seeded in 2nd place...
