I like old school rap, when it was fun and goofy.....Doug E Fresh, Young MC, Biz Markie, Run DMC, Grandmaster Flash, even some Geto Boys. Rap these days , for me anyways, is all garbage, they all sound the same, im so so so sick of hearing about how much money these assholes have, bragging about ho's and bitches, i mean, these are role models? These people have to know they are a big influence on the kids who listen to this shit, thats what they want kids to learn? That money is the key to life, and women should be treated like ho's? Sorry, thats not rap, it's not "Hip hop" its lyrical trash. Well that's my :2 cents:

At the end of the day there is a lot of shit out there - but there's
plenty of great hip-hop, and for every taste - and it's really not all
gunz & hos - check out jurassic 5, gangstar, sway and a hundred
other more positive and musically intelligent mcs

with you saying rappers aren't hip-hop artists
As far as i've always been taught there are 4 elements in hip-hop
- b-boys
- graffiti
- mc's ( ie rappers )
- dj's
( see DJ Q-Bert's "Wavewisters" animated movie )
So - hip-hop is not all about rappers, but they do form one of the parts of it !
i should never have stepped foot in this thread but I just have to say that Hiphop is not something that you can be "taught", its about culture, art and just expressing your thoughts not something you can learn from vh1
And although I tend to stay away from artists such as Master P, Chamillionaire, Mike Jones, ect they are still hiphop. Because Rap is a term given by record execs and money fiends in there attempt to make money of it and they know nothing about "hiphop".
That's what happen when you are commercial and only do music for money...
I don't have a problem with rap aslong as the lyrics are not stupid like most famous stuff who only talk about Pimp, slut, gangsterism, sex, drugs and all this immature crap... I also hate these rap fans who think gangsterism, drugs and guns are cool... maaaaan... They are ridiculous!
