Who is the worst hip hop artist/group of all time!!!

ok HeartBroker & iamforever - i got the spelling of megadeath
wrong !

& iam - you're probably right that there's More violence in hip-hop
but i'll give you some metal song titles

pop metal - iron maiden - bring your daughter to the slaughter
weirdo metal - cannibal corpse - entrails ripped from a virgin's c*nt

or for some rock mysongeny from the old school

try "peaches" by the stranglers ( soundin like the dog pound in disguise  )

scary eh ?

and there have been the infamous black metal murders / crimes / church
burnings in parts of the scandanavian metal scene < can't remeber the
name of the band but there was one where they were knockin eachother
off at a fucking hellofa rate !>

( and - though i'm not sure of the truth of the music connection - there
was loads of freakin out in italy a few years back over teenage murderers who were meant to be influenced by the dark forces of rock < think marilyn
manson was also mentioned > )

finally - about the rap / violence thing - you've got to remember the group
who purchase the most hip-hop cds, whether in the us or europe, are middle
class white kids - and you don't see many of them packin glocks or going into
the pimp game - even if they've heard tupac talk about that kind of thing !

:2 cents:

oh no. somebody stop me! nobody here. here i go.

first: "bring your daughter..." give me a break.

black metal murders? exactly, what is black metal? and quite frankly, im surprised you didnt say dimes. good thing.

manson was also mentioned in the colombine murders. a lot of good that did. just the media and the parents passing the blame on to someone that had nothing to do with it.

last: middle class white kids? where do you live? and, yes the ones that think they are "down" do carry guns. again, where do you live blakey?

what else do you have so i can throw it away?

I used to like it when it first came out back in the day - Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Sugarhill Gang, Doug E. Fresh... - way back!

"that muther fucker only sings about how much fuckin money he has" - legzman

That quote pretty much sums up ALL the artists now, IMO, from what I know of the "music" now.

I've let this goto 3 pages before I thought I'd just point this out. Apart from the odd one or two and the artist Jod has posted here, most of these aren't Hip Hop artists. They are rappers and most rap isn't Hip Hop. If you don't know the difference between them you won't really understand what it is if I explain it.

Such artists as..
Puff Daddy or whatever he's calling himself now.
Eminem
Dr Dre
50 Cents
etc...

These are all rappers not Hip Hop artists.

Also to all the heavy metal heads in here. Why you posting in a thread that has nothing to do with you. I think your just looking for either a arguement or to get this thread closed. If you can't give a valid opinion on the subject, just don't post. Thank you.

i have a valid opinion. every one of my friends listen to that shit. i have no choice when i am at their house or in their cars. like i said before, only tupac will i say is an "artist". that is it.

ok iam - thought the way you were talkin you knew more that
maybe you do
anyways - i'm no expert myself - death or black or satanic metal
quite a well known phenomenon eg the band Deicide - sing about
rape & murder etc

check out this web page < not written by me - before you go off on one
but just something i got on a quick search - gives some info re an old
programme that i saw. You don't need to believ me but there has been this
band in norway killing eachother & burning churches etc >

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/this_world/4446342.stm

in my last post i was deliberately trying not to advocate the whole manson is evil thing - which i don't believe, he is just very good at creating a marketable image & selling it to teenagers < wasn't he a music journo or something before doing music himself ? > - actually i think he seems quite sound when i've seen him interviewed though i'm not as keen on his music as on his choice of women < dita, rosie et al. >

finally - thought it was a recognised fact that white people bought the most rap records these days - high disposable income, wanting to appear "street" etc - certainly this was known by Death Row records back in the days of Tupac

I live in Europe - where, by and large, even the kids who think they are "down" don't carry guns - they are primarily used by gangsters / drug dealers
- where i live they are much, much more likely to carry knives - which don't get too many "big ups" in hip-hop !

i know that story. did you know that acdc was also pegged that way? so was sabbath. those stories go hand in hand with metal.

manson, no matter how much i hate his music, is an artistic genius like you said. and as far as white people buying most of the rap: wrong!

and you live in europe. i actually envy europeans because you dont have kids walking around thinking they are bulletproof. american youths are in a serious need of an ego check.

lotta good points,
outkast rocks! public enemy,run dmc

but for all the dumbasses with diamond encrusted dentures, with monotone voices, like 50 cent, paul wall, ying yang twins, lil' jon,
jesus, did anybody see ying yang twins on cribs, even dave chapelle had to knock em .
i'm sure that there are probably a handful of real artists who are struggling to breakthru but can't because the music industry is saturated with these "characters". because that's what there looking for, what can they market.

poggy - you make a valid point & sound like you're coming
from my side of the arguement - but i think i gotta disagree
with you saying rappers aren't hip-hop artists

As far as i've always been taught there are 4 elements in hip-hop

- b-boys
- graffiti
- mc's ( ie rappers )
- dj's

( see DJ Q-Bert's "Wavewisters" animated movie )

So - hip-hop is not all about rappers, but they do form one of the parts of it !

;)

deaded - i saw the ying-yang twins on cribs - what a pair of pricks

they've not had any hits or anything over here so i didn't know them but i've
never seen such a couple of weirdos making more annoying sounds & noises - makes me wanna cry that those two got enough money to get their house on
cribs

This really has nothing to do with the actual topic but personally I blame the record execs. In every genre of music, it's always the record companies trying to get a jump on the next big star that they'll sign almost anyone, quickly flooding the market with sub par performers and killing the scene. For example: 1) the metal scene in the late 70's and early 80's. Can anyone say Hair Metal? 2) The grunge movement early 90's. Now we have whatever this Emo shit is and 3) the origins of the thug life rap today -'gangsta rap'.

IMO music (whatever the genre) is best when it's made by musicians for musicians. Before record companies and radio friendly edits and music videos. For christ sake when was the last time you saw a music video that had anything to do with the song it's for?

As people have stated, there are many rappers and hip hop artists that are quite talented and creative (and a lot of rock and metals bands that are shit). You just dont hear about them. The ghetto-fabulous trend is in but it will end and then they'll be something new to hate.

I'm in no way a music elitist but i find the majority of popular music these days to be quite sad. Rock, rap, pop, etc. It all follows the same pattern.

Jesus this is a long post. Anyway my vote goes to TI from ATL movie
"What you know about that?"

Have you noticed that recently all you have to do to have a hit rape song these days is just repeat the same line over and over

_Mike Jones
_Catch me riding dirty
_What you know about that
and so on.....

Rappers aren't hip-hop artists.

I'll try to explain this simply, yes they can be part of a hip-hip track. But you can also have a hip-hop track without even having a rapper on it.

It's all in the title of the thread, everyone is supposed to be naming there worst hip-hop artist or group. Hip-Hop can be a style of music and not many of you are even naming artists who've even done a hip-hip track. Such as Tupac, mentioned in this thread a few times, was a pure rapper and never did a single hip-hop track in his short career.

Blakey comments are correct and wrong in this case. All those are elements of hip-hip life, but as I say, the title singles out the music, not the overall scene. So this is what you should be looking for not rappers. On the British scene theres not many around, but out of the few Roll Deep are by far the best up and coming at the moment. But like most hip-hop artists now days, struggle to get into the popular music charts, as there just full of plastic pop bands.

Nobody's mentioned 50 Cent?

For me, he's the absolute bottom rung. I can't bother getting angry at needless flash-in-the-pan artists that people forget about 10 minutes after it was a hit.

50 Cent, on the other hand, has long outlasted his shelf-life and started to smell rotten long ago. He is the merging point of all the worst points of hip-hop. Mumbled ineloquence, simplistic to the point of stupid beats, glamourizing criminal lifestyle, and non-stop selling-out, leaving us with a terrible movie and a terrible video game instead of just bad music.

I couldn't agree more, On top of that he claims to be a thug and snitched on errybody G UNOT

I would have to say The Group Dead Prez, The are awesome lyrically and have something to say and there beats are nice HOWEVER they are a bunch of naive musicians who have no clue how American politics works. And dilated peoples are insanely overrated. Just MHO (and those dudes are hip hop)
