The Belgians make literally THOUSANDS of types of beer -- another favorite of mine was "kriek" beer, and the best was made by Lindemann (I think that's how it is spelled). It even had a cork in the bottle! It cost about 4 Euro per bottle (francs then), and it was the most amazing cherry beer I have ever had!
Such a small country, but they seem to have a beer or two unique to every town or city (and their fried are fantastic!). Those Trappist monks and their beers....lol Dutch beers and German ones are a close 2nd-place for me... DAMNED fine beers. Dutch and Beglian "schnapps" are wonderful too...so many from which to choose...
"Lucifer" beer was potent. I started drinking it on a train from Brussels once and, 3 hours later, I was pleasantly "wrecked." I wrote a song on the train and later recorded it... LOL Thank God I made my way home and crashed in bed just fine... :nanner:
