Man, I'd forgotten about this video. I was at a buddy's house watching this on cable, and Depp was just hitting it big, and I remember saying to my friend, "Isn't that Faye Dunaway??"
There was a time when I shied away from Jeff because he had this whole "90s alt-pop-rock hackneyed douche" image about him. Then I gave this album a try ... and then another try ... and then another try. The guy was such a fucking terrific force of nature. Demi-godly powers in the way of songwriting and performing. It's like he heard a shit-ton of prog-rock, grunge, Americana, choral music, Nico, maybe even other stuff ... and just built an album out of the influences.
