Man, I'd forgotten about this video. I was at a buddy's house watching this on cable, and Depp was just hitting it big, and I remember saying to my friend, "Isn't that Faye Dunaway??"
There was a time when I shied away from Jeff because he had this whole "90s alt-pop-rock hackneyed douche" image about him. Then I gave this album a try ... and then another try ... and then another try. The guy was such a fucking terrific ***** of nature. Demi-godly powers in the way of songwriting and performing. It's like he heard a ****-ton of prog-rock, grunge, Americana, choral music, Nico, maybe even other stuff ... and just built an album out of the influences.

Robin Gibb is cupping his ear to prevent his voice from going out of tune. He called it "centering his tone" ... It doesn't help that Maurice starts singing much later in this song.
