Interesting how the very last paragraph is totally appropriate for the current situation if you only change one word from it...

It is hard to imagine that the president of the United States would violate over 200 years of history with a civilian government peacefully transitioning power to a new chief executive every four or eight years. But Trump has shown himself to be a different kind of president, one who is an ideologue willing to ignore the Constitution and the will of the people in order to ram through his agenda, no matter what the cost. It does not take a lot of imagination to see where Dr. Carson is coming from, nor to see that this plan could be taking shape this very moment in the White House.

Not going to click on the link dodgy source but I am a republican for more than half a century and I never heard a peep about that just more noise to get people riled up news gets everyone worked up over far fetched hypotheticals instead of covering news like historical mid east peace agreements, jobs reports, polling that doesn't fit

I think they should stay limited to 2 terms and there needs to be a lotmore scrutiny after office in the private sector with lobby firms etc for all fed office holders really

If we were to believe that Trump could really get away with what Putin did in Russia, there wouldn't have been the Impeachment Hoax. Pelosi, Schumer, Nadler, Schiff and the rest of the Hoaxer Gang would have mysteriously disappeared or met with mysterious deaths or horrible accidents. In Russia you get with the program whether you like it or not, or else you disappear, die or have bad accidents.

The ability to just up and declare that you're going to be President until 2036 just does not exist here in the USA.

Not sure what you don't get we in the US are the culture we are because of the Constitution we don't take chances with human nature we just make more perfect government with constitution that guides us and our laws. We made rules against pinochets a long time ago

And what I am apparently not making clear is that the Constitution is only good if most Americans believe in it and feel it is in their best interests to have it. If that ever changes that is where the possible problems lie. Remember Germany was a democracy in the 1920's and early 30's. As the economy collapsed from war reparations as well as the Depression the people lost hope. National Socialists(Hitler) promised a better life. People believed it. Worked for a while.
