Today's Key Match-Ups:
Atlanta at New Orleans--The Falcons are fighting for their postseason life. And two of their last three games are against winning teams. It's do or die. Brees and the boys are passers first, but Atlanta has Abraham and Babineaux. They won the last meeting, but the secondary gave up over 200 passing yards in the fourth quarter ala Drew. Smith might opt to run Turner down the Saints throats and play possession. Edge to the Birds if they run well and pressure Brees.
Miami at Buffalo--I like the Bills. Always have. Even when OJ was playing. And the Bills love to play the Fishies in cold weather. Problem is, this game is being played in Toronto in an indoor stadium--part of some marketing deal or something. Gets worse. Trent Edwards is likely out, and God bless him but Losman isn't very good. Besides. They only managed three points against SF and their 23rd ranked defense--and that was with Edwards. Edge Miami.
Dallas at Pittsburgh--Dirty, gritty, grimy smash-mouth football. That's what the Curtain needs to play against Dallas. Both teams are scrapping for the post season, but Pitt faces road games against both Baltimore and Tennessee...you gotta win those homers. Roth and the boys have been about as consistent offensively as the weather. Barber may not play, and that's good news for the Steelers. If Roth can keep up a 90+ home game QB rating in the cold of Pitt the Steelers should prevail. Besides...I've always been a defense kind of guy. Edge Pittsburgh.
Washington at Baltimore--The Ravens remaining schedule ain't no picnic, while the Skins damn near is. The Warriors playoff hopes are pretty much crashed no matter what. Baltimore is peaking and Portis is playing hurt. The Birds must keep pace with the Steelers because they are within one game of three other teams for a playoff spot--and they can still win their division. Edge Baltimore.
Tampa Bay at Carolina--This one's for the division lead. Gruden is pissed off about having to go to Carolina on Monday night. Needn't worry. The Cats can't stop Garcia. He nailed them last time, and the Panthers ain't been stopping anybody of late. Hmm...they can't stop Garcia and they've given up over 130 yards rushing in the last four games. I think owner Richardson may need more than a pacemaker. Edge Tampa Bay.
